OLED is still a benchmark for screen it's still too expensive for ipad use, for TVs mini LED's still don't have enough dimming zones. Go read reviews on new Samsung TV still have blooming in dark scenes.

Mini LED costs more than OLED to manufacture.

You don't seem to realize this iPad Pro 12.9" has more dimming zones than a big 2021 Samsung TV.

When I saw the mission impossible segment I thought it was an ad for the new iMacs. When I saw it was placed in the iPad, my brain cells shattered outsides my skull.

Now I am confused, is the iPad ridiculously over powered to have a desktop chip in it or is the iMac crippled because it has a tablet chip in it.

10,000 mini LEDs
1,600 nits
2,500 dimming zones

Hopefully, OLED fanboys will finally understand why mini LED was selected for all future Mac and iPad Pro devices.

Because OLED, while still infinitely better than that poor, poor spec you just bolded... would be at risk for burn-in due to the static nature of computer and tablet screens.

Apple today introduced the next-generation iPad Pro with the same M1 chip found in the latest Macs, Thunderbolt and USB4 support, 5G connectivity on cellular models with mmWave support in the United States, and more.

Apple says the M1 chip in the new iPad Pro provides up to 50% improved performance compared to the previous generation. The M1 chip's integrated 8-core GPU offers up to 40% faster graphics than the previous generation.

The new iPad Pro is available with up to 2TB of storage, which is double the previous limit.

The TrueDepth Camera system in the iPad Pro features a new 12-megapixel Ultra Wide camera that enables a 120-degree field of view for a "Center Stage" feature. It keeps you in view as you move around, panning to keep you in the shot.

The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro comes with an all-new Liquid Retina XDR display, with up to 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness and 1,600 nits peak brightness. The display consists of 10,000 Mini-LEDs, with an ultra-high 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. This new display is limited to the 12.9-inch model, and not available on the 11-inch model.

The new 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, while the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,099. Pre-orders will begin April 30, with availability beginning in the second half of May. No specific release date was provided.

Apple also announced that the optional Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is being released in a new white color.

I see the "up to 16GB of RAM" but I don't see any choice on the webpage. Will it be exclusive to the 2TB option like 2017 pro 6GB?

The zones being the only thing you can mention, because the rest makes obvious why OLED could never power these. OLEDs don’t get to 1000 nits, much less 1600. And HDR being an actual thing, a pro device needs it.
The iPhone goes to 1200 nits peak what are you talking about.

So I should be able to connect the new iPad Pro to my 27” Thunderbolt Display as long as it has another power source? This also makes a good case for buying the Magic Keyboard now since I currently have 2018 iPad Pro and it seems that the new 2021 iPad Pro works with it as well

Would buy it in a heartbeat if would support dual boot of iPadOS and MacOS
Do a remote connection to a desktop computer with whatever OS from an iPad... how’s that experience? 🥸🥳 ... why there is no XCode to develop apps on an iPad is a completely different question...

Hopefully next years with the M2 will have 2 ports. It's definitely powerful though, I'm also guessing next year the 11" will get the mini-LED screen. My 2017 will last another year or a few.

iPads have a long life :)

I am thinking at the next iPadOS : iPadOS when you use the ipad without a screen attached, MacOS when you attach a screen.

It's very obvious now that soon apple is going to make a device that runs both iPad apps and also MacOS apps. If this iPad doesn't do it, then it'll be in the next generation or two.

iPad Pro with M1 with up to 16 GB RAM. The M1 has virtualization support--a first for the iPad Pro. WWDC might be very interesting this year. Those are huge upgrades. Apple could use that extra horsepower to virtualize macOS Big Sur on the iPad Pro.
