Let's face it, no one really needs the retina display.
...
and suddenly, graphic designers/editors across the world unite to facepalm.

Let's face it, no one really needs the retina display.
Price seems high...no?
I'll pass.
Does anyone know if you can upgrade from 8gb to 16gb at a later date? Or are you stuck with what you originally get like the Air?
Yes! It's exactly what I wanted. I'm so glad I'm me and not you.
Ummm is it NOT SSD. It is a FLASH drive. Its a similar but very different technology.
No Blu-ray?
Not just their entire computing lineup, but that of every other OEM's laptop in existence.
Not to blow your mind or anything, but the battery, space, processor, and other requirements needed to power a retina display make it either unfeasible for some designs (MBA) or jack the price up. Just like economies of scale are finally increasing the adoption of SSD technology that has been around for ages, you're going to have to wait for this technology to come down to your price point. But I guess it's more fun to throw a tantrum.
And on life-support...
What's so great about eliminating the optical drive? If you don't like it, don't use it.
Reserving judgement until I see the screen in person.
Hey guys! If I were you, I'd wait a year or so (painful, I know) to get the retina/ssd MacBook Pro. Right now components are expensive, but the price should drop significantly in the next year. Knowing Apple, by this time next year, the price for a 15" Retina MBP will be $1799 tops and make its way into the mainstream models.
It obviously isn't a 2.5 drive.. the images show its the same blade design they would just keep using the blade SSD's to save costs and that they already have them available with airs.
So its the same thing as the air, you can upgrade them but they are expensive.
Theres no reason for me to have a retina display, i'd hardly notice it. All I do is code and read papers.
And on life-support...
Too little storage unless you want to break the bank. I am interested to see how good this "revolutionary" this new fan is.
