Not sure if this is related to problem but my ultra 2 locked itself while I was wearing it this morning. It then displayed a message saying I had to wait 45 minutes to unlock it. I believe this is what happens when you enter a false pass code more than 3 times, but I hadn't touched the watch. Strange.

I use the list view rather than the grid view and after scrolling to the app I need, when I tap on it, the menu just scrolls down instead of opening the app.

After a few taps (it could be one tap, it could be 7/8), the app opens.

My brother also experiences this, very annoying.

I have Ultra 2, he has Ultra 1

A lot of posts about glitches and annoyances. Unless you have actually experienced it, I get that it is hard to understand.

I did have it happen once last week. My Ultra 2 screen was popping with multiple apps opening one after the other 1/2 second intervals, the vibrating was constant, touching the screen did nothing. The only way I could stop it was a force shutdown reset. It has not returned since then.

Strange to see this article today after having something like this happen to my iPhone 15 Pro Max the other day. It was so strange, activating different things on my display randomly while I was just looking at it. And then my own touches weren't working, or would only partially work and snap back, like flicking up the home indicator. Haven't had it happen with my Apple Watch Ultra 2.

…you think Apple is doing this to disable your blood oxygen sensor?

If you believe that, I have some custom crypto for you to buy, only $10,000 per coin!
I'll take any $10,000 Bitcoins you have laying around, though!

Sorry, all I have are DoodyCoin and DerpCoin! I’m sure they’re JUST as valuable, though!

Classic Apple Support: make customers do time-intensive “Erase and Reinstall,” when they know full well the only thing they will actually do is tell them, “Engineering is aware of the issue. Keep your device up to date. No further troubleshooting will be provided.”

In an internal memo shared with Apple Authorized Service Providers this week, Apple said it is "aware of" and "investigating" a touch-related issue affecting some Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 displays.

"Some customers may report their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 is experiencing false touches on their display," reads Apple's memo, obtained by MacRumors. Apple said some customers may describe the issue as "ghost" touches.

The issue may cause the screen on affected Apple Watch models to "jump erratically" or exhibit other unexpected behavior, without any user interaction, according to Apple. The memo said the issue can also result in an Apple Watch starting a phone call unintentionally, and prevent users from entering the device's passcode.

Apple recommends that customers keep their Apple Watch's software up to date, suggesting that the company is hopeful it will be able to address the issue in a future watchOS update. Apple did not say how widespread the issue is, or provide a timeframe for a potential fix. It is unclear if defective hardware is a contributing factor.

Apple has instructed technicians not to repair affected Apple Watch models while it investigates. In the meantime, technicians are told to ask customers who are experiencing this issue to force restart their Apple Watch by holding down the Digital Crown and the side button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models were released in September 2023.

Who ya gonna call? 👻

Do these "ghost" touches occur when the Watch is running a workout app and users are exorcising? 😜
I had this one. I originally blamed it on a very wet run in the rain where I thought the thin (soaked) coat rubbing against the face while exercising caused it. It continued for about 6 minutes before I rebooted the device (AWU2). Haven't had it since.

I had problems a day or so ago. Entered passcode and it would register, then the dot indicating the number would disappear. This would happen repeatedly. Did a soft reset and haven't had issues since. Glad it's been purged of ghosts for the moment - it was annoying.

Is this a paranormal investigation? 👻

I've had it happen a few times during workouts. It'll just jump to the next interval randomly, or stop the workout. Both times, I was wearing long sleeves, so I assumed the sweaty shirt had rubbed against the display and it mistakenly took that as human touch. Guess not... (and yes, I know you were just making a pun :D).

i've had the opposite issue. i touch the screen and it often doesn't recognise it so i need to tap again. very unresponsive and slow.
Yep. This happens on my Ultra every day. My work day starts super early and my alarms won't respond tap after tap to shut off while wife screams for me to turn it off so she can sleep.

On another note, the action button on the Ultra needs a redesign as it is always accidentally clicked on. I set to the flashlight and it is accidentally turned on at least three or four times throughout the day. I think it needs to be recessed so that bending your wrist a certain way doesn't accidentally click it on.

I am having this issue with an AW 8

I'm not having this issue yet on my Series 9 but I've only had it for about 6 days. I bought it new from Best Buy when there $299 + tax. FWIW, I've disabled the always on screen figuring it'll extend runtime/battery life somewhat.

It was an upgrade for me from a used Series 4 I bought from Woot years ago.

Way too often, my Ultra switches to the compass without my doing anything. I hope this is it and they fix it! It's really annoying.

Hopefully it is not a hardware fault and a software update can fix the issue. Hoping to see a fix soon.

I had this happen to me with my AWU2 on a flight in November. The siren went off and nothing I could do would stop it, until I eventually managed to force reset. I've never turned it off/reset before so it took me a while to figure out how to do so! It was extremely embarrassing. Hopefully this gets sorted soon.
