I noticed the same behaviour on my Series 3 and Series 8, too. It turned out that the inner sleeve material of my coat becomes "conducive" when it's wet with sweat or moisture. Whenever I move my arm or wrist, the sleeve material would mess with the touchscreen. I have shown this to the Apple Genius Bar a couple of years ago, but they asked me not to wear this coat during the rainy or foggy days or when I'm sweating. They also suggested that I activate the water lock on my Watch. Geesh...

Ghost touches are normal on my Xiaomi smartphone. I can detect them by displaying a circle wherever a touch occurs. Not sure if Apple offers than option. Those ghost touches sometimes follow or unfollow people on Instagram or send random gibberish messages to friends. So sometimes I noticed I have sent someone a message like "errsspppppppppppppppppppppppppp".

When using the Amazon app I am very careful, because in theory the right combination of ghost touches could even order random stuff on Amazon.

I was having exactly the same issue on my Series 7 back in 2022. Somehow it went away. For what it’s worth I noticed it was almost always triggered by wiping the screen with an alcohol containing wipe, so stopped doing that.

That one is a bit different. I think anyone who ever exercised wearing an Apple Watch and a long sleeve nylon shirt experience that. Here they are talking about touches experienced by an uncovered watch, out of the blue.

Watch Ultra 2. Problem with the super great numbers and letters showing up without touching anything. They won't go away only with the restart.

I had this problem for the first time with my Ultra 2 a few days ago. Rebooted the watch and things are fine once more.

In an internal memo shared with Apple Authorized Service Providers this week, Apple said it is "aware of" and "investigating" a touch-related issue affecting some Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 displays.

"Some customers may report their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 is experiencing false touches on their display," reads Apple's memo, obtained by MacRumors. Apple said some customers may describe the issue as "ghost" touches.

The issue may cause the screen on affected Apple Watch models to "jump erratically" or exhibit other unexpected behavior, without any user interaction, according to Apple. The memo said the issue can also result in an Apple Watch starting a phone call unintentionally, and prevent users from entering the device's passcode.

Apple recommends that customers keep their Apple Watch's software up to date, suggesting that the company is hopeful it will be able to address the issue in a future watchOS update. Apple did not say how widespread the issue is, or provide a timeframe for a potential fix. It is unclear if defective hardware is a contributing factor.

Apple has instructed technicians not to repair affected Apple Watch models while it investigates. In the meantime, technicians are told to ask customers who are experiencing this issue to force restart their Apple Watch by holding down the Digital Crown and the side button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models were released in September 2023.

I was shocked, I thought my watch had been hacked! Out of nowhere it went crazy, sending texts making calls, just super fast random things I couldn’t stop it. In the end I took my watch off and because I always have passcode enabled, that stopped it but it kept trying to input the code but kept getting locked out and try again in 43 minutes! Weird as, only happened once but freaky!

I had the ghosting happen randomly 1 time few days ago on Ultra 2. Was kind of scary because it tried to make a call and then it locked me out from entering me PIN for a minute after too many failed attempts when I needed it. I restarted and immediately updated to 10.3.1 so hopefully don't see that issue again.

i've had the opposite issue. i touch the screen and it often doesn't recognise it so i need to tap again. very unresponsive and slow.
My too. Very annoying. The previous update fixed it and this recent update screwed it up again. Apple’s quality control is declining over the past few years.

The only ghost I know is the Apple Watch change face ghost.

Well I know this is weird but since it is about Apple watchs I just bought the apple watech se 2 two weeks ago and I have a car a take to work and the radio stop working 3 years ago which was not a big deal to me but the strangest thing is my radio started working again for no reason shortly after buying my new watch i think 🤔 maybe the ghost in my watch decided to resurrect my radio instead 🤣😂

I'm glad I saw this. This just happened to me this morning with my Ultra 2. I don't wear my watch to bed. I took it off last night and set it on the dresser. When I put it on this morning, it said that it couldn't be unlocked for 12 minutes. When the 12 minutes was up and I went to unlock it, there was already something pressing the keypad buttons and it locked again, this time for 90 minutes. 🤷‍♂️

So now I am wearing my old AW8 and it's working fine. Is there any way to get around this and get the watch to work again?
