Apple Invites Media to 'Hello Again' October 27th Mac-Centric Event

Wondering if a refreshed MacBook Air and Pro will also include a price drop of the rMB. Price drop of about 15-20% for the MacBook would be enough to make me ditch my 2012 cMBP, but if the refreshed Air is provocative enough, I might go that route instead.
I think it'd be very smart of them to do this. The MacBook is definitely in need of a price drop to really kickoff sales.

Not much speculation on what they mean with "Hello again"? Feels like. The Mac is back. A new dawn (with the sun rising over the mountain with the mist clearing). Re-invented? Exciting :)

Glad you remembered… it's usually not the user stumbling over it, but a kid, a co-worker or some other person from the general population.

Bought a MacBook a few months ago. Haven't missed the magesafe since.. since yesterday. My puppy jumped, yanked the cable and down came my MacBook. Luckily I had carpet, but really missed my mag safe on my old MacBook Pro.

Same thing happened this morning with my aux cable in my car. Just got my iPhone 7+

Lol not tripping though. Bigger fish to fry.

I'm always amazed and impressed when I hear of people holding onto Macs for so long and long after much better ones come out. To skip the whole lighter, retina, SSD generation for 4 and a half years takes some special willpower!

But then I think I value technology more than most and probably more than I should.

Well, some of us just can't afford to buy a new computer every year, so we hold on to our machines for as long as possible. And besides, until they start failing they perform perfectly so there is no real need to change it.

last forever

Nope won't happen. This thread proves today's love will be tomorrow's despair.

Love means never having to say I'm sorry... Just good bye.

There's nothing special about a computer built with an ARM CPU. What makes a computer special is the OS that provides the instructions for the CPU to do something exceptional.

Even that tag line seems to acknowledge that it's taken way too freaking long for them to update the Macs.

What? Tag line hints nothing about Macs! They had an event last month and just over a month after they are holding another even... and therfore, Hello again! I thought that was dead simple tagline.... the easiest ever!

PS: I take that back! Reading comments from people who seem to know more about Macs history, "Again" seem to be Mac related.

I'm not surprised that will now have 2 to 4 USB Type C connectors on the new MacBook models. Especially now that they're even moving Thunderbolt 3 connections to USB Type C.

no MagSafe connector

THATS the bit I don't get.why haven't they made a special USB-c MagSafe connector I have no idea.

MagSafe has saved my MacBook and me several times.

This is a huge step back and a loss of a unique Apple selling point.

Apple really is changing for the worse...

Apple knows what the Pro market wants:
- A thinner and smaller desktop computer.
- Pro colors (Space Grey Pro, Gold Pro and Rose Gold Pro)
- iMessage Pro stickers so that your clients can say how much they love your work.
- Pro software like iPhoto Pro and iMovie Pro.
Interesting that iPhoto is mentioned...iMovie Pro makes sense...I don't think iPhoto will be returning to the Mac.

At the moment I have difficulties imagining that oled bar to have any real use. It could very well be the most superfluous addition to a MB ever, break its clean design and just add to the price.

Sorry I show my age, I meant Photos Pro, which includes more filters than the normal Photos app
I don't know what you mean by, "Show your age." I mean, I remember using iPhoto on my Powerbook G4 and getting upset when it wouldn't run because it got updated. My main point is that I'm not sure Apple would do much with the Photos app. Maybe at a later date we shall see something but as of now, anyone who is editing photos are using actual "pro" appps such as Lightroom, Photoshop, Apature, and anything like that.

To be honest, I'm not really excited about the new Macs.

The reason there haven't been any leaks on new products (except the possible oled function key row on the mythical MBP) is clear:

Leaks of Apple products are generated by Apple to keep the rumor mill churning and interest high. They aren't "leaks" but carefully crafted Apple teases.

The power of wishful thinking is a strange thing. These were the leaks... that's all there is.

You just missed the sarcasm in his original post. Apple has been deliberately pulling out from the "Pro" market and the early signs were in their 1st party software, Aperture > Photos, Final Cut Pro 7 > Final Cut X or iMovie. It is just so that now their hardware lineup has finally caught up with the same agenda.

I'm OK with the lack of USB-A, the lack of thunderbolt, the lack of an SD port. But I am not really OK with no MagSafe that must have saved me many times over. I would much rather have 1 MagSafe and 3 USB-Cs than 4 USB-Cs. After all, the power adapter is the single thing that we ALL connect most and I don't think anyone would complain about having a dedicated port for it.

My wish for MacBookPro is:
8GB Graphic card of a current Nvidia or AMD technology
Decent FKeys for shell/ssh usage
Slimmer lighter case

hello (again) clearly indicates they're about to unleash something Apple thinks will be monumental like the first Mac and iMac were. So what's the next step then?

Lets take a look at the background of the Apple logo...

Space and smoke...or is that clouds?
What is infinte? Space. What can (theoretically) provide infinite storage space (at a premium of course)? iCloud?

Next generation MacBook Air - make it an A series processor with Cloud based...everything....

Tim has repeatedly told us the future is wireless, as in separation from anything physical. We've all seen quite a few articles speculating Apple is looking at services as a bigger and bigger chunk of their revenue. Apple services = iCloud. What's a (theoretical) way to drive even more people to the cloud? A Cloud-based Mac. The logical evolution of the MacBook Air?

Just throwing some thoughts out there.

Not that I'd want that but hey, I haven't seen any other interpretations of the image LOL.....

The colors are Final Cut Pro, the clouds are iCloud project sharing, black is the New Mac Pro.

Yeah, wishful thinking...
