I think so. It's been due a refresh for ages. Perfect timing to make a MESH type network. Yes it's aping Google a little but this is where the industry is heading.

Ya know, I have to say the security around these new macs has been really good. I don't feel like I've seen every part before the event yet. I like the suspense!

The title is very promising, hope is not just that -bells & whistles- oled strip in macbook pro or a jet-black finish (Acer feeling).

Generally speaking, I really don't like Tim Cook aesthetics concerning how Apple products should look like. I'm so stick into Steeve Jobs era.

Minimal. Just Minimal. Just be quiet Clowns.

"Again" is a disturbing word to use in this context. Implying what? Repetition, sameness, routine? Or perhaps it will be the thread running throughout the presentation. Thinner again, incremental minor changes again, new colors......well, you get the picture.

Maybe Apple has finally remembered its customer base and want to say hello again?

Or, god forbid, maybe they have now even run out of good ideas for invite tag lines and are simply signalling hello again to the fawning baboons that whoop, holler and applaude every trival announcement at these grundhog day events?

I remember when Apple mandated that Firewire was the future and all the fanboys duly posted about how bad USB was. Now Apple goes for USB and all the fanboys act like that's what they said all along.

Any bets on a new MacBook with 2 USB C ports, the rest of the line up stays the same!
That, plus dump Kaby Lake in and that's when I'd pull the trigger on the MacBook. Right now it's too slow (yes, I don't care what others say, it's S-L-O-W!!!) and the lone USB port plus a courageously outdated headphone jack instead of a second USB is laughable. But I expect that in the Spring, not now.

hello (again) clearly indicates they're about to unleash something Apple thinks will be monumental like the first Mac and iMac were. So what's the next step then?
Smoke and Mirrors marketing as usual.

Monumental?

That's what they want the worshippers to believe, and the posts here prove Apples got em convinced... and in control. Just look at the typical "take my money" responses before even having a clue what's coming.

We'll see if this is anything more than a vanity play... laptops in colors. Really?

Completely agree!! Even though I'd a love a new Mac, can't really afford/justify at the moment...
But surely need to extend/upgrade my home Wifi, so upgraded AirPorts would be brilliant! Fingers crossed!

I'm really pissed, I mean why does apple keeps us waiting this long without any news whatsoever of its flagship products, the ones that made it what it is. They just keep releasing new iPhones, iPads, TVs, even watches. There's no love for the most important products on the line. I'm sorry but this makes me crazy, I just can't understand what they are thinking with all the announcements that they have done in the past years. I've been waiting and waiting for god knows how much, it feels like almost 20 years since they updated these products. I hope when they do update them they give them a much needed redesign, I mean these things look like they are from the 90s. And now they come up with new macs, what is this? Really... When is apple going to update the Pippin and the Newton? If they don't do something soon I'll just have to switch to a PlayStation 2 and a Palm Tungsten. C'mon Apple don't let me down!

How much more minimal did you want the 12" MacBook to be? ;)

USB2 IS crap though. USB-C (compatible USB3 and Thunderbolt3) is a different league.

"Hello again"
Obvious throwback to 1984 when the first Mac said Hello.

Woz worked at Hewlett-Packard and the Apple I was based on the HP2645 intelligent terminal ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_2640 ). Woz offered the Apple I design to HP but they turned it down. Not once, but five times! And 'hello' was the sign in to the MPE operating system for the HP3000 minicomputer.

Just like to point out that the photos used in the invitation is from LGs marketing for their OLED displays.

To references it, google Philips OLED TV and you will see that exact frame :)
It looks more like one of the "chalkburst" wallpapers included with iOS 10 suggesting that alongside the new macs there will be an 12 in iPad Pro 2 and possibly an A9x iPad Pro mini.
