Part of me hopes you're wrong ( a $999 macbook ) and part of me hopes you are right ( an $800 device ).
 
I registered just to ask this all important question: WHEN WILL THEY BE IN STORES?

I NEED to have it by the 31st. (I'm in law school and we take exams on our computers, but we have to register them with the school by that date. I DO NOT want to have to register my dying powerbook G4; I don't trust it).

I'm relieved, but still a little nervous.

How long has it taken in the past?

Relese DATE!?!?

Ok, so the event is next tuesday the 14th like I have been waiting for forever..... But what about...When the laptops will actually come out!?!? What is the past history with these "Townhall meetings" between when they announce the products to when they actually come out. Need to know this.:cool:

Good point. Let's take it further...

Why do computers have firewire slots? I mean, really, not everyone needs them so why bother?

Same goes for dual ethernet, optical audio and that silly backlit apple logo: does anyone actually CARE that it glows beyond that first few days of "honeymoon" period?

longtime lurker, just went thru the reg. process to say YAY!

... now I only have to convince myself that my 30-month-old MBP is NOT desperately in need of an update. I mean, what the heck, it's still under applecare! I don't think I'd buy one immediately but now I might start saving for Xmas :)

You have problems if you are willing to call attention to yourself over a notebook. It's also very rude to be on the phone during a lecture.
 
So..... no mac mini update, or xmac then?

*sigh*


WTF is Apple thinking? Those are needed to the mac product line like freaking 100000x more than a slightly better laptop.

I doubt sales would be affected that much, most people who need a laptop go out and buy one and don't follow these sites.
 
My guess was just a wild guess.

There usually is something cryptic in an invite though. This one just says the spotlight turns to laptops.
Not very cryptic if ya ask me.


One More Thing ?
 
MacBook Air?

While the MacBooks and MacBook Pros definitely need a refresh (finally!!!), I sure hope Apple gives us a 15" MacBook Air. I'm ready to throw down for one of those!

It's probably anodized aluminum with carbon coating.

Ah, but light does NOT travel in rays. Look up the double-slit experiment.
 
So i've been lurking on this forum for about a year i think :b
Now finally I simply had to make an account, can't wait till 14th October! :D
Then i'll finally make "the switch" to a Mac xD
 
This is great news, but...

I have a MBP in transit from China as I speak...damn

But I shouldn't complain, its an replacement from Apple Care for my 1.5 year old MacBook that was having wireless card problems. It does say my delivery(which was priority overnight) will not be till the 14th...hmmmm (I know I am being wishful - but I need to kill time waiting for my new MBP)

who knows, maybe the most substantial change will be the design change and I love the way the old one looks.
