Maybe a transition to black?

Yesyesyesyesyes! I really don't have anything intelligent to contribute. I can't wait to have my very first MacBook in my hot little hands!

This is the news I was waiting for! I'm looking to upgrade from my 7.5+ year old Dell desktop. I never owned a Mac before but that will soon change after using my nephew's over the summer while on vacation. I am the proud owner of a 3G iphone however since August. I almost broke down and bought a MBP last month but now I'm glad I didn't! :D

Thank God! Finally a official date. And thank you for Macrumors making my last couple of weeks veri interesting and suspense.

I am an convertee, coming from PCs, and the new MB will be my first Mac of any kind. To keep me from buying a PC while waiting I allready paid in september money to a shops account, now have only been waiting for a new MB to be released! Hopefully they arrive to the shops fast.

Best,
Nicke

If the MB doesn't have a dedicated GPU or no 12"/13" MBP introduced, I'd be pissed. Other than that... I haven't got much to complain about.

I can't see the MB getting dedicated graphics, especially not if the rumor is true about the entry-level price of $800. A lot of people, myself included, don't care about dedicated graphics and don't want to pay a premium for it. That's one of the main differentiating features that allows Apple to charge an extra hefty chunk for the higher-end MBP.

My head just exploded. So. Good.

I can finally stop whipping my iBook like a dying horse and trying to get it to drive my 24" monitor without complaining.

The wonders of apple huh? WHOOP WHOOP

I guess I'll have to settle for being the second happiest boy alive.:D Now where did I leave my piggy bank?;)

Your happiness is going to be a question of semantics. The MBP's will still have a dedicated GPU on a discreet chip. The MB's GPU will be onboard, so intergrated into a chip package from nvidia, much like how the x3100 is deployed in the intel chipset. The thing is, on the MB's, providing the nvidia rumors are true, the intergrated chip is actually going to be a lowish end geforce chip.

The MB solution is certainyl more cheaper to assemble and cool, but it will take a little performance hit. Saying that, its stil going to be massivly better than the old GMA950's and noticbly better than the 3100.

So, how does this tie in with time zones? If they do release the new books on the 14th, will us Brits have to wait until after the event has occurred to pick one up?

Or do the UK stores open them up and start selling them before the event has occurred i.e. due to time zone differences?
No, they will only be available after the announcement.

The Million Dollar Question

Where are the Mac Pro's?

I know I know, I have been a long time notebook user myself, but I think it is time to REALLY upgrade! I know Apple Inc. has never really had a media event surrounding the Mac Pro's, as they more or less just release them in the background... Any ideas? I know it has been close to 300 days since the last release... Average is like 220 days...

It's about time! I really need a Mac now for my work and I am glad they are rolling off otherwise I would had to buy an "old" one! WHOOOP!

I guess that does make sense. I'd love to see a dedicated graphics chip in the macbook, but I suppose it would increase costs. I highly doubt one would exist in an $800 machine, and I just can't see Apple having an option of having a dedicated chip. But the lack of a decent video card is what holds me back from the macbook. I've love a slightly smaller MBP though. maybe 13-14" or so.

MacWorld'09 for those.

Alright! I was starting to get worried that there wouldn't be any updates for another couple of months after waiting for the event to be announced. But seriously i need a new mbp. So hop to it apple and make sure it ships Wednesday and has a blu-ray drive.

Isn't it funny how things like this suck but really they end up being a blessing in disguise in ways.

My GF dropped my 5month old HP notebook and I was upset, but ended up reselling it w/ broken screen and got into the Mac Family w/ this macbook. I had regretted not shelling out more money for a MacBook in the first place when I got my HP Notebook so I am ultimately very happy. I got it for a really good price so I'm not upset about the new update.

At the end of September, I was getting into my car when I got a call from my girlfriend saying she had been in a car accident. Well, as luck would have it, the signal dropped and so did the call. In a panic, I left my new Macbook Air on the top of my car when I was getting in. Long story short, it slid off the top of my car and got run over by two SUV's and a car. I was devastated at the time, but I managed to get $900 for it on eBay and my grandmother offerred to pay for the rest of a new one.

I decided to hold off the the new Macbooks, and now I can choose between a new MBA, MB or MBP! I can't wait.

p.s. My girlfriend ended up being perfectly fine. It was only a fender-bender and she wasn't even at fault.

It really is funny how these things work out.

Can I get an AMEN!!!

I've never been more curious about an update! Although I'm going to wuss out and wait for reviews, maybe even for a Rev. B, it doesn't make me any less psyched for October 14.

I can't wait to see what develops.

If that's the new MBP, nicely done! I lloovee it.
Now is the time to regret  really!

That image which people keep posting has a Photoshop status/scroll bar at the bottom. Don't get too excited at that style :)

eyes start tearing...

Where's the Mini???

runs off crying....

Probably a silent update like last time, if they're not doing anything special to it. I doubt it has a profit margin that can justify spending too much time and effort over to their accounts people, as important as it may be to actually introducing people to the Mac.

--------

As to when it'll be out... it's been years since Steve stood up on one of those keynotes and said "They're out Today". Maybe 2-3 years ago? I'm sure it won't be long though, average - ignoring the tedious wait for iPhone 2.0 s/w - seems to be a couple of weeks.

Are the current ones really underpowered? I've got an octo-core at work, and it's retardedly powerful.

The image beneath could be legit if we keep in mind that the leaked photos were the part pointed by the arrow. It would make sense comparing the thickness of that part.

I actually really like it. It's like a thick macbook air. Exactly what I wanted

I'm hoping for this:
MacBook starts at $800, available in rainbow colors, exactly like a thick MacBook Air but with ports and an optical drive....
MacBook Pro starts at $1799 and comes in silver and black. Just like a thick macbook air but with ports and an optical drive.
Possibly blu-ray.

Is it possible that they were gunna hold out, but after the leaks they decided they needed to release it soon before the whole mystery is gone?
