Just a rumor. I am banking that the new MacBooks are going to be available the day of the announcement or the day after.

You would think they would try to have them immediately available because who is going to purchase an old Apple laptop after this announcement especially with the cheaper prices?

all apple has to do is update their website with the new laptops and have a preorder button. if apple does come out with cheaper prices, expect the white macbooks to go down in price quite a bit.

They don't have "sales" Just a quick "special". Our local store even gave out T-Shirts! I love my Apple T-Shirts. I have a lot of them. lol.

As do I. I got them at the local Goodwill, though, at $2 each. I could make a killing on eBay if i sold them. But they're all too cool to sell; not that I'd ever wear most of them (only the tan and black logo shirts).

I Can't wait to be one of the first guys with one of these at like a local olivers or starbucks everyone will be like :eek::eek:

and ill be like :D:D:D:cool:

And this gains you... what? Money? Chicks? Oh, that's right. NOTHING.

I didn't understand this mentality in high school either. I guess I'll never get it.

Thought? Although not a speed demon by todays standards, the Pismo is still gorgeous; curvaceous and soft to the touch. The TiBook defined "thin", like Twiggy. The Alu G4s and MBPs never appealed to me. I´m having great expectations for these new models, though.

I'll probably never get rid of my near-mint Pismo, even though it's in temporary retirement. My iBook G3 800mhz just has better video and is faster. I'm sure I'll pull the old girl out once the iBook's video croaks. Not if, WHEN.

I hooked a friend up with a $200 TiBook 550 from a seller on Craigslist in beautiful condition. (Heh! The ad's still up- http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/sys/837246595.html). If i weren't such an honorable person, I would have kept it for myself. I had never seen one in person. What a sweet machine. It'll be my next purchase, if i can find one in the same condition.

Not sure if someone posted this thought already (I looked but didn't see anything), but often spotlights are lit up against curtains (i.e. a theatre curtain). The curtain then lifts to reveal what's behind it. My thought when seeing the invite was that the notebook is the "curtain" and the real new product will be revealed, not necessarily exactly what you see on the invite.

Yeah honestly. I wonder how many buy a Mac just because they think they will impress people. I will buy my first Mac when these come out, so I'm not going to get too preachy as I'm not even a Mac owner yet, but I'm definitely not buying one to try to impress others.

awwwwww-shucks . Let's go . I just hope a beautifully redesigned MBP takes center stage .

The NEW iPhone 3rd Generation ;)

I hope so, I'm still looking forward to seeing a more powerful iphone-type device that can handle heavier computing. Come on Apple, I know you have it in ya. Reveal it and shock the world yet again !

Yeaaahhh!!

I've been waiting since november of last year for an aluminum Macbook!
I'm sooooo happy :D

What could be the specs? Any idea?

Good point. I didn't think of that. Good job of making me feel stupid. :D

I wouldn't get your hopes up. There hasn't been a "One more thing" for some time.

I guess everyone has any number of reasons why they buy something, and I'm sure that status isn't the only reason that they use a Mac. I'm a design fanatic, and I've loved Apple's designs (with a couple of exceptions *cough*puckmouse*cough*) since Steve returned to the company. OS X was the capper of my love of Macs. I've never been a status-seeker, so I guess I'll never understand that mentality. I just don't see what it gains anyone. Respect? Admiration? I don't need that kind of shallow ego "boost" from people I don't know or don't like. Now if it were to gain me money, then hell yeah I'd be all for it!

Besides, everyone I know that buys things to impress people that they don't like (i.e. my neighbors) are currently broke and wondering where the next meal is coming from, since they've wrapped their entire existence around credit and status. Pity.

And let's hope that redesign is a MBP thicker by 0.3 inches (therefore increasing the stuff that can be put in it, like dual HD's), that is cooler, that has an actual high-end graphics card, and that isn't priced at twice the industry average for the identical hardware from someone like HP.

wasnt there a thread about the shipment about 2months ago?
i guess the macs are already rdy for sell... just waiting for an announcment...

sure i understand that almost everything u/we do and buy is to impress more or less.
u are what people think/say u are... more or less ;)
i studied it...

but to buy the latest to just show off is just stupied...

I'm making a prediction here: you are going to complain about the new MacBook/MacBook Pro after the announcement.

I'm going to make a prediction: you will be right. :p

As for me, I'm going to be giving Apple another 10 months to provide reasonably priced, reasonably-specced hardware. If by then, Apple doesn't satisfy, I'll be forced to buy a PC.

Am I the only one who sees something other than a laptop in that picture?

Long time lurker and figured no better day than today to make my first post. I don't know if this has been brought up by anyone else (I think I have been through most of the 900+ posts so far and didn't see it) but could that "laptop" featured in the invite actually be a glass trackpad?
T-5 days.

I agree with some of what you have said but I would like a smaller form factor MBP with just as much computing power. THAT'S wsup.
