3:18am right now.
Not to put a damper on your day, but if my memory serves me properly, the 2nd generation iBook was announced and became available 6 weeks later. Hopefully it won't be that long for us to get our mitts on the new MacBooks
Just hold on a sec there..... We'll find out on the 14th![]()
...does anyone know...
It's taken me a while to come to this conclusion but truly, noone knows anything. The sooner we all accept that the better! Every Apple launch is different, every time....
I've been speaking to people I know connected in various ways - and they know as much as me. That is...
Nothing!
I'm just hoping I can get my hands on it in time for my gig. If not....... I don't know what I'll do, but I'll just have to be flexible. I think I can get away with turning up to work at 10am on Wednesday so I'll pop by Regent Street at 9 and see what's occurring. Also, calling up will help![]()

Just came across this on another site...
According to some information on the site I found this from, Nvidia has been relatively quiet in terms of tech summits regarding mobile graphics which goes hand-in-hand with Apple's philosophy of keeping people quiet. We also heard that since Nvidia is working on the next chipset, employees have been "parading" around the office showing off the new Mac notebooks. In the picture above we see the CD drive located in front of computer rather than the side (which would suggest a Macbook Pro). Also, since Nvidia is a graphics company it would make the more sense to put the high-end model on the main page rather than a mid-range model. The image above seems consistent with the *slight* tapering of the edges and all aluminum design.
Now I wonder how well the mock-up images will compare to the real deal on Tuesday?
By the way... Perhaps we'll be more accurate if someone can use the dimensions of the CD drive (pictured above) and give us an estimated length of the computer pictured... (I don't have a Mac so..... haha)
I really hope that they include Wi-Max into the new macbook pro (or whatever they call it). That would be sick. And don't say it's impossible. Two laptops on the market that I know of already have Wi-Max in them. Plus, it's been available since like 2006-2007? I think. A few years either way. I'm gonna buy one regardless of whether or not it's included.
Soon-to-be owner of a new MacBook Pro!!!

you cant see? there are 2 drives in the front.
ok, maybe there are 2 drives, otherwise the mockup is just not as good as we thought.. Normally was the drive at the right, no? And now it's at the left, so maybe it's just not been photoshopped that well...
It's just a generic representation of a Macbook Pro, not a mockup of the new one being released next week. Take that NVIDIA picture with a grain of salt. It has nothing to really do with the new MBP.
Follow what this guy had said. You can really play the system if you keep your eye on the ball. Take out a good credit card. (examples on moneysavingexpert.com). Buy the MBP/MB, and the month before the interest free period ends take out a new credit card and balance transfer all the money over to the new card. Card companies will do this for you automatically and will ask if you want to do it when taking out the new card. You have to do very little work.
This is good because
a) you don't then pay monthly interest for example on the £1500 you spent on the notebook. You pay a small one off fee to transfer the balance typically about 2% of the total sum you're transfering. (much less than what you would be paying if you stuck with your original card.)
b) When you transfer a balance to a new card, card companies tend to give a much larger interest free period than the interest free period for purchases. For purchases it's usually 3-6 months. For balance transfer its usually 10-18 months. This gives you plenty of time to pay off the amount monthly, paying substantially less. And not to worry, if by the end of that interest free period, you can move to another card again doing the same process.
c) You can cancel the old card as there will be nothing left outstanding on it, and this will improve your over all credit score.
There's more information about all of this on moneysavingexpert.
ps. I am siked for my new MBP. I've been waiting since late Aug, not too long, but starting to need it!

ok...not to fully join the 'when will it be released' band of merry folk,...but almost.....do you think that we will be able to place an order for them prior to their release date, if it is per say, 6 weeks from 14th oct?...
you could order a few days before the event and hope you get shipped a new machine , or you could just wait , see what is said on the day and what sort of time period we will have to wait or wether they will be available immediately .
patience is a virtue ,...................that I'm running thin on , roll on the 14th

I feel really happy that I don't have classes coming Tuesday (fall break), so I can sit in front of my PC (I don't have a Mac right now anymore, but will get a new one as soon as possible) and get the news right away,...![]()
I hope that apple release the keynote stream quickly after the event. I've even subscribed to the apple keynote podcast!
