OOOOOOOOOOMG! This is the most awesome news ever and the timing is perfect :D

I'm almost at the end of my 12 month Hackintosh journey, and the buggy drivers and crashing apps since I upgraded to Leo have been really annoying me. It's going to be great to have a new, real, Mac :D Gonna buy one as soon as they come out. The deal is gonna be super sweet for me:

- Student discount
- £95 rebate on iPod (the offer is running until Oct 31st)
- £60 rebate on a printer (so a free HP inkjet!)

Do you guys think there's any possibility of Apple bumping up the resolution a little on the MB from 1280x800? I hope these things aren't 16:9. That would blow.

That would be me..
I've bought :apple: MBP 17" penryn 4Gb RAM, Hi-res LED screen last May..

btw, high-contrast invitation image..
(looks the same MBP to me..)
That's what I thought too. Maybe they are simply showing the 'old' one in the invite.

What if...

So I was thinking maybe just maybe, its an event to denounce an update? Now wouldnt that just crash the hopes and dreams of fanboys worldwide. I'm just as excited about the update as everyone else, but really, if they were going to do something truly ground breaking they would have waited til MWSF09, that being said, im expecting a new nvidia chipset in the macbook pro's and perhaps a new one in the macbook series, as well as a bump in specs and harddrive capacity, maybe new keyboard, but the touch screen track pad seems a bit far fetched.

Hi guys!

When the first "Brick" case image leaked someone measured the dimensions to check form factor and screen size of that computer....

Based on the Apple logo that we see on the event invitation image, could someone measure the form factor of the notebook that we see on the image?

The logo seems to be very large compared to the overal lid size... Maybe a subnotebook? a 10" ~ 11" US$ 800,00 subnotebook?

Assuming that the next update to the macbooks/pros will be on the 14th, when do you think the next update will be. I really can't wait till the update after the update!

/joke

So should we expect to get new MBs on the day of the event or will we have to waite a couple of weeks?

New MBs on the 14th and a conference call on the 21st. Come on apple stock!!!!!!!

Whatever they are showing in the ad, it's much closer to 16:10 than 4:3 ratio. I measured a rectangle from the visible corner to the center of the Apple logo as opposite corners and calculated the ratio from that.

I came up with a rectangle 155x102px. A 16:10 rectangle based on the 155px side would be 155x97. A 4:3 rectangle would be 155x116. So, 5 pixels off of a perfect 16:10 and 14 pixels off a 4:3.

YES! FINALLY!

So when can we expect to see these in stores??? After previous updates/revisions how long did it take them to get to stores?

New Notebooks Available Tuesday?

Hey guys. Random question for those of you in the know. Do you think Apple will have them in stores on the 14th or will we wait for a week or two or three? I know in the past Apple has shipped boxes ahead of time with Do Not Open Until _____ on them. I need it asap for school!

Yyyyyeeaeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

/shakefist at Apple

:D

Just when me, a potential switcher, was considering going for a Vaio SR (hey, 13.3 inch 2.4 Ghz laptop of good build quality AND dedicated graphics for the same price as a top-spec MacBook?), you finally come out with something concrete! I want a really good quality 13.3 notebook, with the os-X factor being a very nice novelty, but not a necessity. Oh well, I can wait a week. I just sold my old Dell Latitude (hey, their business notebooks aren't that bad...) in anticipation of an Apple notebook event. I already have a desktop I built for gaming and hard-core number compiling.

Just think, aluminum 13-inchness, with dedicated graphics, perhaps? Throw in OSX and you've got me sold over the other 13-inchers out there. :apple:

This is extremely exciting!! I have been waiting since June. This will be the first Mac that I own. I am a student, web developer and do computer repair. My 3 year-old HP laptop deserves retirement. After making the wrong move and purchasing a Vista machine in June (which thankfully has a buyer and will be out of my hands next week) - I'm ready to go Mac!
I have visited the nearest Apple store (about an hour away) a few times in the past few months and almost bought a current Macbook Pro - I'm soooo glad that I waited!

I know nothing is ever written in stone, but if they are released the same day, does anyone have a guess at the time these machines will be available? I'm assuming as soon as the event is done. I am just trying to make some tentative plans... maybe go crash at my friends apartment the night before... he's only like 5 minutes from the store.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but yesterday I discovered that on the Online Apple Store, there are hidden "new" icons next to the Macbook and Macbook Pro. If you go specifically to one of the computer pages, such as for the Macbook Pro and view the source code, look for "new.png". The icon that appears next to both of these products contain a stylesheet class called "new-icon", which as defined by the external stylesheet "aos-family.css" includes the style "display:none" which is why your browser does not show the icon yet. The "new" icon is ready and waiting to be turned on by removing or overriding this one line of code! Those who know how to turn styles off in their browser (Firebug is my best friend) can see the icon appear, it is the same one that currently appears next to the iPods.

I'm very excited! Good luck to everyone on release day - I hope there are more than enough to go around!
