This is extremely exciting!! I have been waiting since June. This will be the first Mac that I own. I am a student, web developer and do computer repair. My 3 year-old HP laptop deserves retirement. After making the wrong move and purchasing a Vista machine in June (which thankfully has a buyer and will be out of my hands next week) - I'm ready to go Mac!
I have visited the nearest Apple store (about an hour away) a few times in the past few months and almost bought a current Macbook Pro - I'm soooo glad that I waited!
I know nothing is ever written in stone, but if they are released the same day, does anyone have a guess at the time these machines will be available? I'm assuming as soon as the event is done. I am just trying to make some tentative plans... maybe go crash at my friends apartment the night before... he's only like 5 minutes from the store.
I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but yesterday I discovered that on the Online Apple Store, there are hidden "new" icons next to the Macbook and Macbook Pro. If you go specifically to one of the computer pages, such as for the
Macbook Pro and view the source code, look for "new.png". The icon that appears next to both of these products contain a stylesheet class called "new-icon", which as defined by the external stylesheet "aos-family.css" includes the style "display:none" which is why your browser does not show the icon yet.
The "new" icon is ready and waiting to be turned on by removing or overriding this one line of code! Those who know how to turn styles off in their browser (Firebug is my best friend) can see the icon appear, it is the same one that currently appears next to the iPods.
I'm very excited! Good luck to everyone on release day - I hope there are more than enough to go around!
