First pos.... argh dammit!

The logo is lit from an outside light source there, wonder if that has any significance ;)

(I very much doubt it, but we might as well cover the possibilities!)

Glad to hear it. Was starting to wonder!

Did any notice that they put the period at the END of the sentence??? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!?!? I think it means that they are getting out of the notebook business.
Watch out for Hop ons! You're gonna get hop ons!

Hi guys!

When the first "Brick" case image leaked someone measured the dimensions to check form factor and screen size of that computer....

Based on the Apple logo that we see on the event invitation image, could someone measure the form factor of the notebook that we see on the image?

The logo seems to be very large compared to the overal lid size... Maybe a subnotebook? a 10" ~ 11" US$ 800,00 subnotebook?

I compared the size of the Apple logo with the sitze of the complete cover. It's the same like my 13" Macbook!

This announce definitely made my day ... and will be finally able to sleep better ! I LUV APPLE !

man, this takes a load off me. Told the wife not buying a laptop for her until after next week. Had there not been an event, my wife would have hung me because I have been putting her off for weeks.

lol

HaHa
I'm in the same boat we've been looking at PC laptops today instead for something cheap inbetween the release.

In the past I remember that the online store has product displayed the same day it is announced but how about the Bricks and mortar stores? I'm in London, UK and am flying to greece on the Thursday. Does anyone think they will be in the Regent Street store on Wednesday or in Dixons at the airport on the Thursday next week? I know there is no real answer to this question unless you work for apple but could everyone give some guesses?

Thanks and a big WHOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!!!! :):):):):):D:):):):):)

I have a midterm in TWENTY FIVE MINUTES and I'm still stuck here reading this forum... I may fail. But at least I'll have a new MacBook!!!

I don't think there are any hidden meanings in the graphics of the invitation. I simply feel that the spotlight is pointing to Macs now because many Mac users, including myself, have felt that Apple has put the Mac on the back-burner lately.

Finally! Next decision Best Buy or Apple.com?

My first Mac. Should I order online or try BestBuy? Will BestBuy get it at the same time? Same exact price for same features? Pros and cons of each retailer? Tired of waiting so time matters, but so does price. Guide me!

I'm going to be sad seeing my Blackbook becoming old hat obsolete. There will have to be significant gains to motivate any investment in a new model during these times of financial uncertainty.

Is the Mini ever going to pick up any of these upgrades?

well, it's an event so that means it's better than just a small speed bump.
but then there is not a lot to update to. only the more obvious things like less weight, led screens, montevina and that.

so i guess they will unify the three lines (MBA, MB, MBP) with a similar look. Specs will be what is realistically expected here on the board (no Blue Ray, no Touchscreen, no WIMAX, no Quadcore and such stuff).

And there is some hope for a real price drop at the low end books.

Well, I will wait another 6 weeks till the rev A problems (if there are any) are worked out and then buy whatever book is light but fully featured and powerful with a great screen. could be a top end MB or a mid range MBP.

good that i bought a new battery for my Powerbook G4 last week. so i can wait a bit more now.

I just yelled in the middle of my Chemistry lecture. (on the iPhone) I'M SO FRIGGING HAPPY!!!! HAHA TO ALL THE OCTOBER 14th HATERS!!!!

Best Buy usually gets them 2-4 weeks after the Apple store's do. Better/easier return policy w/Best Buy though, plus a lot of them are Apple certified now to take care of AppleCare warranties.

I wonder if this is the new touch screen iTablet PC.
Basically, a Macbook Air, but there's no folding - it's just the screen part and the keyboard is touch screen.

This makes me wonder.

I've never really thought about getting a MacBook, I've always been happy with just a desktop. But if this alledged $800 pricepoint means a sub £500 MacBook I may finally take the plunge for when I'm out and about.

Which means of course that if Apple are pursuing an aggresive pricing stratagy to increase marketshare, it will have worked! :D
