You all got it wrong.

First, they will yap endlessly about the iPhone XR and XS, which by the way is the most popular iPhone ever. Then customer satisfaction and developer preference and of course adoption of iOS12 which will be the highest ever, most popular mobile OS and the usual stuff.
Then they will show the new iPad followed by what will seem like an endless stream of super-boring demos, at least 2 of which will focus on misplaced usage of AR.
Then it's school manager. The demos and endorsments will go on until you loose the will to live.
Finally, when you're just about to burst into tears, Tim Cook will announce the new MacBook. It will replace the current Air, and the non-TB-MBP. The pricing will be sub $1000 as promised but severly underpowered at that price. Expect sub 2GHz CPU, 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD. It will have 2 ports just like the nonTB, it will come in all the same colours as the MacBook, except space grey. It will have the T2 chip, but no face/touchID.
Then, as a final "one more thing", they will show a very vague promo video of the upcoming Mac Pro with almost no tangible information that will make the crowd go wild.
Thank you all for coming...

And no, there will be no new mac mini, but it will be silently removed from the Apple Store after the event.
I’m super excited because I want a new iPad, but I have to agree, this sounds about right. Hate those stupid AR demos. Look like a bunch of idiots up there. If I saw people doing that in real life I’d probably think they were disturbed and call the cops.

Finally! My 24" iMac early 2009 is so ready to retire at this point. I will basically buy anything with decent specs, but Mini is my first choice if it is finally coming!

Holy crap that made me sad...

I think the sliced Apple indicates what I have thought all along. I'm predicting that the Mac mini will share a case design with a new Mac Pro with the Mini getting mobile processors and the Mac Pro configured with Xeon/ECC. Either will be usable with any of several options for eGPU and storage and I/O via TB3. I think the term "MacStack" will replace "Trash Can" as the unofficial name.

I am thinking maybe something that resembles the old OWC MiniStack but one a much higher level, with much better integration, cooling, etc. Of course that look will be new, but the concept is there.

I doubt it will feature the SuperDrive, though.

Love it, kind of hope so, I'd be into swapping back to a desktop, but I don't want an AIO - my MBP stays "docked" like 98% of the time, and I have other machines/devices if I really need something portable. I'd love to see an Apple designed stack that offered an eGPU as an option, then they can keep the costs down on the main "slice", and/or offer a mid-range GPU option, and have a whole chassis to handle cooling for just the GPU.

Fingers crossed - if there's really a new Mini - for a 32GB option too :)

Oh, I don't fit into the vocal minority on internet forums. I don't mind it being thinner. I would actually applaud it if Apple found a way to do it without sacrificing performance. Also Fusion needs to go anyway. Its 2018. Every Mac should be SSD as stock configuration here on out.

Totally agree. It's just calling making things 1mm thinner a redesign. It may be slightly redesigned, but not nearly enough, IMO, to market it as a redesign.

Except for Macs, which are actual computers that are more powerful and capable in every way.

Well they are both actual computers, but I think the iPad is Jobs’ ultimate vision of the personal computer. I remember watching videos of him discussing the future of computing, which were thin clients with cloud access. It’s pretty exciting to see how far we’ve come. Macs are great too, but they are relics when looking towards the future.

I'm already camped out for the iNothing. But I think your guess at $1200 is way too low. I want to pay iEverything for iNothing because Apple really needs the money.

Here, take my kidneys please! And pass me that Barclay Card Super Platinum application ;)

Come on now. We can't take both your kidneys, you would die and we would have nothing to harvest later. You can shear a sheep many times but only skin it once. Tim is the GOAT at figuring how much blood he can get out of the user base. It's down right painful at times to watch the herd swear they are moving to Windows and Android.

After the smoke clears they accept the minimum price and the justification process of how they can get the highest spec mac pro starts. The hard questions of if they should finance their purchase or use their entire emergency funds begin to creep into the forums. The amounts got broke into how many dollars a day it averages out to be and comparisons involving Starbucks come up.

Then shipping dates drop and they get angst that the machine they were never going to buy and didn't need in the first place will be delayed. Then they begin to consider cancelling l the highest spec model or the most popular color so they can get it a day or two earlier. Some have even been known to emigrate to New Zealand to be amongst the first to get it.

Although I jest the main new product I would like to see out of this is higher profits.

This is a crucial keynote for Apple. It will show us their direction for next few years. If there is nothing interesting (nice tech for a reasonable price), I will have to get out of the ecosystem.

Interesting and at a reasonable price has not been a hallmark of Apple in the Cook era.
