I ran the image through an in-house AI to analyse every hex code contained in the image, including the background grey (#F8F8F8). 143 separate colours were detected. Using an algorithm to discern the median of the bi-linear interpolation, sequenced with the quadrature of the Gaussian noise, I just had to finally convert the exported topology via a histogramic equalisation to render as a hyperfocal image.

Take me now!

Totally agree. It's just calling making things 1mm thinner a redesign. It may be slightly redesigned, but not nearly enough, IMO, to market it as a redesign.

I agree as well. Like when Apple added a couple of millimeters going from the iPad Air 2 to the iPad or from the iPhone 6 to the 6s, and from the 7 to the 8. I don't consider those redesigns myself.

And It sounds a little silly discussing millimeters versus inches, but I do think if they were to shave off an inch off the bezels, and an inch or two on the chin that I would consider that as a redesign. I think once we see how much bezel they could potentially eliminate, the iMac will immediately look noticeably different from its current iteration and should have no problem standing out on its own.

It’s pretty exciting to see how far we’ve come. Macs are great too, but they are relics when looking towards the future.

If macs/desktops/laptops went away and all we had were ipads, that might be OK as long as key elements of the desktop/laptop experience remained. iPads are great for taking in content, but for creating content and productivity, nothing matches the OSX-type of arrangement (vs. the simplistic iOS layout), physical mouse, and physical keyboard. Mate an iPad with those 3, plus improved data storage & input/output ports (since going wireless would still require charging or plugging in of that which was prevsiosly connected via cable), and now you have something.

- for content, iOS/iPad is fine.
- for productivity, iPad is not ideal in MANY cases, maybe even most, despite Apple's best attempts with those silly commercials last year where the "smart and connected" girl was clueless as to what a computer was. (eyes roll) :)

Buy a Macbook Pro or a Mac Pro if you want to drop that much money. Makes no sense to spend that on a Mac Mini.

1. There's no new Mac Pro yet. If it's announced I'd definitely consider it. (Though to be fair there's no new Mac Mini confirmed yet either - but seems to be more likely than Mac Pro)
2. Spending $1000+ on a display when my $150 BenQ monitor displays code just fine makes no sense.

Oh, and if Apple "innovated" an Ipad that you could pick up from the table or ground when you find it lying glass/face-down without having to grow fingernails or sliding a piece of paper underneath it, THAT would be nice !!

It’s kind of amazing that Apple built the Steve Jobs Theatre to be used just once a year.

I would have thought that a major iPad and Mac event would be hosted at Apple Park.

It's probably used for all sorts of employee events and private events, plus the cost and efficiency savings from each event they are able to host there versus leasing, prepping and staffing a San Jose or San Fran facility is huge.

Wonder what hook they will throw at me this year. I currently have the 10.5 Pro, and feel it is an awesome device that I don’t “currently” feel I need to part ways with!

I could always hand down to parents and sell their 2yo 9.7 Pro, right?

Most products updated in one event ever? Sure seems likely!

Doesn’t Apple usually release Mac hardware refreshes a week prior to these events. I hope a refreshed iMac is released around Oct 23.

::fingers crossed::

Spending $3000 on a Mac Mini for coding makes no sense. You can hook up the Macbook Pro to your $150 monitor just fine.

My theory as to why they're holding it in NYC: it's a more centrally located world timezone.

If it's as big a product reveal as we're thinking it'll be, Apple will want everyone to see it. 10AM EST is still only 10PM that day halfway around the world (Japan, SK, and coastal Asia). Still early enough to watch the Keynote.

I predict the new Apple Pencil will be amazing, that they will focus on content creation with adobe on stage - NYC is a major center for art, and Cupertino is not so much. (I grew up in NYC and now live in Silicon Valley, so I speak from experience :)

It’s not apple’s fault you don’t have octopus tentacles with suction cups on them. Evolve, dude.

Nice, it’s on my Birthday, and I’m free all day. I guess the new iPad Pro is destined for me.
Thanks.

What’s your social security number?

I’m super excited because I want a new iPad, but I have to agree, this sounds about right. Hate those stupid AR demos. Look like a bunch of idiots up there. If I saw people doing that in real life I’d probably think they were disturbed and call the cops.
Out here in the Bay Area we see roaming hordes of Pokémon Go players pointing their devices at open spaces and doing whatever it is that Pokémon Go players do.

It’s pretty funny watching them.

You know, when Apple literally has machines that haven't been touched in 4 years, it's really not fair to call people whiners. There are certain expectations about tech products that Apple has been neglecting in regard to their computers. It's not whining.
Just because it's warranted doesn't mean the word whining suddenly loses its meaning. It's still whining.

Kinda fear they'd do something like that. Heck, when Apple introduced the Touch Bar MacBook Pro, they spent most of that 1.5 - 2 hour event talking about the Touch Bar. As useful as it is, to me, that's worth maybe 15-30 minutes. Not over an hour.
I challenge you to prove that. My memory is that they spent about 15-20 minutes focusing on the TouchBar.

No, that’s not true at all.

I’m definitely not expecting anything that isn’t iPad related. All these artsy logos point out to that, and Brooklyn chosen because of its history of being artsy.
