Every year......all you people do is whine and complain about “No changes” because it doesn’t affect you or “ugly design” because you’re unfamiliar with it. The iPhone 4 is like the ONLY one in history that y’all didn’t cry about.
people whined so much about the iPhone 4 leaks being ugly that Steve made a joke about it during the keynote lmao

Battery life and signal strength is getting worse every year, the notch is an ugly limitation that prevents enjoying full screen content. What we get instead? New Animoji.

The battery life of the XR was a giant leap forward. Signal strength is stellar, and any poor performance is likely not related to the iPhone, but to other network factors, and the notch is a complete non-issue. I'm watching Netflix with a notch right now and I don't even see it. Try again?

I don't understand why this forum is full of people who torture themselves every day commenting how unhappy and dissappointed they are with Apple, instead of simply buying another brand.
does it really escape you that there are plenty of people that buy apple products but still hate apple and the product they brought?

you realize that this is not incongruent and paradoxical?

people paid $1000 for a phone with basically no leading features. using screen tech from galaxy s5. they are allowed to say whatever the hell they want.

I mean the people who are 5 years in this forum complaining in each article everything Apple does. If I bought an iPhone 6 and I didn't like it, I sell it and that's it. If I then buy an iPhone 7, 8, XS and keep complaining... then that is masochism.

I'm happy the camera is going to be better, but man the design looks sooooo bad... But I'm not sure what else you could do if you're adding another camera...

That is because Ivy is not designing...he has been "out to lunch" for a few years now before he decided to leave...

I have feeling that anyone announcing how “how this is the greatest iPhone ever” will be akin to the Peter Dinklage GOT hostage video.

https://mobile.twitter.com/ellievhall/status/1127950034639704064

“Is it just me or does this clip of Peter Dinklage talking about the Game of Thrones finale look like a hostage video?”

On what basis won’t it be the best iPhone ever?
Without being hysterical it’s hard to make an argument that iPhones aren’t by definition better each year.

Rounded corners on the LCD itself would be problematic from a software and a usability point of view.
No, it doesn’t.

You are talking about the ‘notch’ which is a special case, since it was added and implemented without any particular thought behind it (just like the ‘Home’ gestures to replace the Home Button) - the notch is going away anyway.

The rounded corners will remain - and, again, do not pose any particular programming or design conundrums.

The battery life of the XR was a giant leap forward. Signal strength is stellar, and any poor performance is likely not related to the iPhone, but to other network factors, and the notch is a complete non-issue. I'm watching Netflix with a notch right now and I don't even see it. Try again?

... and yet, Apple has suffered a 20% drop in premium unit upgrades, every year since the iPhone X was released.

The notch wasn’t the reason for that - but a combination of the removal of the Home Button, and increasing the prices idiotically did the trick.

The prices would have been less of an issue, had they not destroyed their iconic User eXperience and interface - that’s their fatal flaw.

On what basis won’t it be the best iPhone ever?

Yes, by the specs, of course it will be ‘better’, but using that same argument of using specs only, most Android phones will be ‘better’ (with ‘better’ cameras, or ‘better’ resolution).

Apple’s forté used to be the User eXperience and intuitive interface — and as long as all we are getting is the same tired design, some uglier camera bump, and not significantly improved functionality (like the Pixel’s NightSight mode), claiming that “iPhone is the best iPhone ever” will sound exactly like Dinklage.

I’ll be very interested in watching the body language during this Apple Event.

Apple (ie Tim and staff) know that they have dud iPhones this year. Appearing to sound excited will be quite an exercise in acting ability.

Next year’s models will be the ones to watch, when they can wipe the mistakes of the Ive era clean away and start with a fresh design and being lost features back.

So glad Jony Ive is gone.

That is because Ivy is not designing...he has been "out to lunch" for a few years now before he decided to leave...

This is actually the last of the Jony Ive “phoning it in” designs that Apple is stuck with, that’s why it sucks so much.

2020 designs will be done by the new design team (same that did the new iPad Pros), and the software and hardware will bring pre-X features back, finally.

Are they going to keep the XR and Xs in the lineup or scrap them? What about the 8?

Buy innovation only.... ok, im out for this year. Thanks for this advice lol

What innovations could they be? A triple camera is hardly an innovation at this point in time. Maybe they think the new green and purple colors are innovative? I also doubt there’ll be any noticeable improvement in night photography.

Yes... add more lenses..
Is it still iPhone or iCamera???

What is this camera madness in phones???
Or resolution and screen size...
It's a phone!!! :))

How about lowering prices and innovation on the battery consumption.
Maybe some form factor change. Maybe a cool phone without that ugly blotch of cameras on the back???
Maybe a phone that doesn't heat up so fast?
Common Tim... sticking to my iPhone 7 plus till it dies otherwise.
The day and Age of a phone being only a phone has long gone. Way more people demand a phone to do way more than what a phone supposed to do.
It is not just Tim causes that, it’s the combined might of us customer causes that, the frenzy of phone screen and camera quality. We deserves that, not Tim.

The notch is ugly and maybe the worst design ever. if you don't see it and don't mind then that is fine - there are a people who actually see it and don't like it - especially comparing with the rest of the mobiles nowadays.

New iPhone colours, ceramic watch, maybe two subscription services, new iPhones & iPad with updated CPU and camera.

I’ve bought iPhone every year since iPhone. I think I might draw the line this year and not get iPhone XS’s it’s the same phone running for 3 years now.

I will stick with my XS and hope these rumours are not true.

I like it, but is there anyway you can put a back background on it? Also, I think instead of the theme "By innovation only" it should just be "Innovation Only" on the wallpaper, and quite frankly for Apple as well.

I, for one, personally thinks that sounds much better.

:apple:
In Apple’s case, it’s a little play on words, based on the phrase “by invitation only”.

As you allude to, it doesn’t make as much sense when it stands alone (without the context).

Combine that with a company making more than it knows what to do with but so desperate for even more. Apple used to be about solving problems. Let’s hope they focus on customer experience and not so much this attempt to monetize us while making things worse. That’s been Apple this year with services.

They are a business that I have no control of. I buy their products or I don’t. You and I don’t have the same opinion here, as I’ve been happy with Apple products the last 5 years.
