Apple iPhone 4 Dock + Bumper=?

iphone 4 + bumper will NOT work in iphone 4 dock, test this today..was let down.

also was told its not a smart idea to use the universal dock because of how much "wiggle room" there is when you dock the phone. this was stated by an apple genius.. oh well.
 
Bummer. Yeah. Looking at the pics, you can see the space there. Well, when you're wrong, you're wrong! Looks like I was wrong! LOL
 
Just got my Bumper and Dock delivered, and I can confirm:

The phone WILL NOT connect/sync/charge in the dock with the bumper on.

What a complete waste of money on the dock. I can't believe Apple would display the iPhone 4 with a Bumper on and sitting in a Dock, as if it was made to go in there, when they knew full well it wouldn't work. Well, guess I need to return the dock and get my money back.

Yea, this does suck. Confirmed this just now as well.

Well, I think you can get away with using the Universal dock. I think if you're careful enough, there shouldn't be a problem. I think I'll be exchanging my iPhone 4 docks for some universal ones.

The pic from the back really doesn't show anything, and in the picture from the front, you can see a lot of the dock connector showing, so I wouldn't be so certain that the pins are actually making contact. Usually the phones have to be seated well to make a connection.

I'm also in the same boat, got both the dock and bumper today, imagine my disappointment when they didn't play nice. The dock is exactly as I expected it and what I wanted, the bumper beside not working with the dock, is an otherwise crappy product, I do not recommend the bumper at all.
 
Just pop the top of the 3Gs dock and the 4 + bumper fit fine. I'll cut the top tomorrow so it's got support and put it back on...

ipad dock won't charge the ipad with an apple case so I doubt it would charge an iphone4 with a bumper...

The iPhone with a bumper will fit in a universal dock with no insert. BTW, I love the bumper. It looks awesome and it gives a much nicer "grip" than the naked iPhone 4. To each his own.

Yep, received my bumpers and docks via fedex today, no fit on the dock with bumper. It does fit the Universal Dock but gives the warning that the device "is not optimized for the iPhone, that you may experience noise caused by cellular interference and decreased cellular strength."

I had one universal dock sitting around, probably will be returning the 4 docks and buy another universal for my wife. I may look into using a dremel on my 1st gen iPhone dock. I've read on here that the 1G dock works with the naked ip4 - it also has more plastic to dremel around whereas the ip4 dock is a bit skinnier and looks more fragile. Also dremeling the connection on my griffen car charger so it will fit with the bumper.

Thanks Apple for really thinking this one through!
 
Jesus saying, but the bumper is used to protect from damage and dropping etc. Outside things - why not leave it naked while you're inside and put ti on before you leave.

because after taking the bumper on and off every day ti will not fit well after a while...

Don't bother trying to modify the 1G dock to fit the iPhone 4 w/bumper. I did it last night and it didn't work. The problem is the connector on the dock isn't tall enough to make the connection still. I practically shaved away the entirety of the plastic on the dock in hopes of making it work.

I'm thinking about the universal dock as a fix as well. Just afraid about how loose it would sit in the dock. Anyone have pics or video demonstrating the fit?
 
has anyone tried using their bumper in a clock radio? my 3GS fit in my radio with my Ivyskin Quattro 4 case, wondering if the bumper will fit

Doesn't fit in my Logitech Pure-Fi Anytime system. Really sucks. I was looking at the SendStation Dock Extender as a work around, but apparently that doesn't fit it either. :mad:

Did you have a case on your previous phone and it fit? What doesn't fit? Is it too "fat" with the bumper, or does it not allow the connector all the way into the phone?
 
Nope.

I bought the bumper and the doc. It does not fit. It can rest in the doc, but it can't actually connect or charge.
