Now someone that was getting theirs in October is getting pushed to November! Someone's gonna be pissed! :p
I feel bad, I really do. But I mean, Apple should look at it like this. I should still be at the first of the line. I didn't get a working product I paid $799 for. Not to sound spoiled, but I believe you should help all customers that ordered first and have issues, then, if they are widespread, fix them then send out to other customers, so the others don't have the same issues.

I would rather wait longer if I know Apple is going to change something to the 5 .

What # are you guys calling? It says Apple Care is closed.

It is open 24/7. I called 1-800-MY-APPLE.

Disappointed to see several blemishes along the right side bezel. Visited the Apple Store today for an exchange. The staff were happy to exchange but did not have stock of thr AT&T black 32GB unfortunately. :(

Give em a call, you could have a new iPhone in the mail tomorrow.

UPDATE: Apple is overnighting me a brand new iPhone and throwing in an extra cable, adapter, and headphone set. I cannot be happier.

Be sure to report your problem! The senior advisor also wanted me to send pictures to him, which was no problem for documentation.

:apple:

Waiting for my call back from the senior advisor tomorrow. My iPhone has a dent into it as well as the new Earpods have major scruffs on it! Not good quality control on this batch, but hope they can make up for it.

My guess is Apple is gathering serial numbers and batch numbers. They will trace this back to one manufacturing line in one factory. Firings will follow. I received a black iPhone today and its immaculate, and tough. Others here have indicated the same. So it's unlikely that all black phones do this. It also seems Apple is ready and willing to make good with customers over this. If I had this issue, I'd be calling them and getting it seen to.

I don't think it's about firing people (although that's probably up to Foxconn than it's Apple) that it is to diagnose the problem. From what I gather from watching the iP5 intro video (with Jony Ive), the side is machine shaved and the blade was probably pushed to its limit before being replaced. They need to either limit the use of each blade or use better blade.

Yes, the QC could be better but if most of the workers are probably given a few seconds to inspect before it goes into the box.

I just got off the phone...they offered me a free 30 pin adapter for the inconvenience...now I basically have to take it to a store or send it back to Apple for a replacement...not happy though I guess it is better than nothing.

Telling the automated system "replace damaged iphone" has them transfer you to Apple Care which is closed. I just scheduled an appointment for them to call me tomorrow.

I've gotten the 1st batch of iPhone 4, 4S, iPad 2 and iPad 3. All of them had to be exchanged because of cosmetic issues except the iPad 3. You'd think I would have learned by now. :)

You hit the jackpot! I've been fortunate that I don't have any problems with mine though :D.

You've jinxed it...

Scratches are a very real & noticeable issue.

I'd prefer not to have them, but now that Apple replaced mine with a new one that has smaller yet still very noticeable scratches I'm going to cover it with a case.

Yeah, I'll probably drop mine in a few minutes.

I can't believe the amount of problems people are having though. Like I know scratches happen, but this is crazy.

I have to baby mine until next friday. That's when my Otterbox arrives.

Let us know what your problems were or post the pics that in your mind and theirs warranted an overnighted replacement. Not to say it isn't warranted, but I personally don't think the tiniest imperfection would warrant that and some people may take that as a cue to demand replacements unnecessarily.

And I know immediately someone will say, for what I spent on my iPhone, I want to get a perfect phone until I damage it myself sort of retort, and I don't necessarily disagree with you, I just don't know to what level people should be crying "new phone, new phone" at every tiny blemish.

Am I missing something? What good is a 30-pin with the new iPhone?

I have one small nick thankfully and you have to look for it
Same here, except three small nicks. Nowhere even close to being worthy of needing a replacement. And it happened after. Was perfect coming out of the box.

Is there a best phone number to call about blemishes on the phone, i have one side all scraped up, and a huge glob of excess glue on the side, not sure how this passed inspec.

called applecare earlier today to see what they say about it
got me a case# and appointment at the store monday

ill try to call them back tomorrow

White AT&T phone.

The printed lines in the back are slanted. There are minor "scuff" marks on the metal band on the bottom left side. My best guess is that something pushed the frame during manufacturing, that caused the frame to be misaligned with the printer and it also caused the minor scuff on the side by friction against the rollers or whatever was trying to keep the frame steady. Not sure if this is bad enough to cause me to return the phone. There is something unique to have a phone with a slanted printout in the back, kind of like when there are mistakes done with coins at the mint.

Thanks OP. Was disappointed to find on close inspection a small dent on the corner near the headphone jack. no black scratching off (yet).... on hold with AppleCare, going to ask for a while one (I'd rather have black with aluminum instead of white/aluminum or black/slate...)
