I assume that this will only work with you ordered directly from Apple
You must not live in the US and know the consumer law here.. the manufacturer is responsible for warranty claims. you can go though either the manufacture (apple) or the authorized seller (vz, sprint, att etc.).

If you bought form Sprint, they can take it back, but it is Apple, inc that warranted you that the product was free from defects.

Apple absoultey has to replace or repaid any iphone that is imperfect out of the box if you bought from them or any authored seller.

Dont forget you do NOT need applecare, apple has the same obligation with applecare or not

I live in the USA and know consumer law but when I contacted Apple they told me to get it replaced by Verizon since we have no Apple stores within 400 miles of the area
 
I also noticed a very very small dent in the bezel but most def not even visible enough for me to call for a replacement. Good work getting a replacement as we all deserve to spend our hard earned money or a product that should be flawless right out the box!!! I don't know what happened with the making of these phones. I find it hard to believe they will keep giving people free **** and replacement phones much longer because who's to say you didn't jut drop your phone. I went ahead and put a full body ghost armor on mines and my bumper gets here Monday. I'm handling my phone like a new born baby until then lmao!! Everyone speaking of this OCD **** must don't care about there money because I want the product that I buy to at least r scratch or dent free out the box.
 
On hold for a Sr. advisor now. The CS rep told me that my issue was absolutely ridiculous and that no product should come out of the box defective. Just as a background, I have the 32GB black and I have dings, mars and dents on the sides but what really gets me is a large scratch on the screen itself. Makes me crazy but it seems they are taking care of it now.

EDIT: They are not taking care of it they are transferring me to AT&T saying that they cannot help because I ordered from AT&T

I called UK support (I'm an american living in the UK), and got an irish guy I could barely understand. I believe he said they know of the issue, and its not cool to get a phone with marks out of the box. Although, I think he said I should try contacting my carrier (Three UK).

Yep, apple said nothing they can do please call Three.

EDIT:
Three can't replace it because I got it from the Three store. Now in addition to over 10GBP in freephone fees, I will now have to spend another 6GBP on the bus back to the Three store.

why would you go to any store?
apple is sending a return prepaid box for my sprint bought two which I dont have to return till the new ones come. get to keep charger aswell.
why would you lay down when some kid at apple who deosnt even knows their own policy give you a brush off?
 
Just got off the phone with AT&T and they are sending out a new 32GB white version to replace my black one. It will be at least a week they said but I can use the black one until then. Really hoping that this one comes out of the box undamaged.

Wait a minute....it costs 6 British pounds to take the bus in the UK?? Here it's like a dollar or two to take a bus across town in Florida, so that surprised me.

Let the OCD begin. This was predictable as the sun coming up the next day. My favorite is I think I have a super tiny speck under the screen!

I feel sorry for you all as I slipped mine in the Sedio Surface case with holster and have done nothing but enjoy my new 5. :p

When you spend the kind of money these devices cost, you expect and deserve perfection! Apple quality is normally second to none. I'm disappointed to read this. My black one delivers Friday.....hope it's better than some of these I'm reading about.

You said you are familiar with consumer law yet don't know that buying it from Verizon has zero to do with Apple's warranty? Take the name of anyone at apple saying Apple doesn't warrant it.

You said a manager said this? record that because it is fraud of them to claim such a thing. (eitehr that or you are relating it wrong). Just look at the apple warranty: apple warrants it and you do NOT have to go through the vendor such as verizon or sprint
 
just got off the phone with Apple Canada and the rep seemed kind of oblivious to the issue but offered me some options like genius bar etc (no freebies). She told me to check with my carrier first and then go from there. At the very least now I have a case opened with Apple about the problem if there is ever any discrepancy with the condition of my phone if I need to bring it in. Apple needs to figure out whats going on and fix it

*I did buy the device from Rogers (canadian carrier).*
 
Phoned AppleCare support.
They have made a note on my account about this issue. I opened the box yesterday and had two little nicks on the left side of the phone, under the volume buttons.

She didnt offer anything to compensate, other than noting it on my account, which gives me 30 days to decide wether to replace the phone out or not.

I'm completely satisfied with this solution. Thanks Apple for standing behind your products, it's the least you can do when you charge a premium for them :)
 
Out of the millions that got their phones yesterday it's probably 40 people from this forum complaining only (if that).

Let's demand a press conference from Tim Cook!!

If I have to "really look at my phone" to see problems (should I use an electron microscope?), then its probably not much of a problem.

Gadget owners are the biggest collection of OCD cases known to man.
 
believe me I record all phone calls to customer service and get all names first and last and ID info if possible. I called Snapple again and they took care of things for me :cool:
 
To those that asked, I just got though by using 1-800-MY-APPLE. I didn't do anything special, but the rep asked his co-workers about what to do with me. Apparently, the rep wasn't informed of the process to dealing with this, so he got the process, and that is where I got my replacement and free extras.

Also, I just got an email this morning that my new iPhone and replacement parts are on the way.

It's brand new there shouldn't be any dings or scratches. The day you accept dings and scratches on brand new devices is the day QC is no longer needed and we might as well sell defective machines. Who cares it's defective right?:confused:

Unless its a huge dent I'm sorry it's pointless also unless its on your screen. I have a mark so small I only noticed it when I went looking for it. And to return for something worse not worth it.
