The reason that was brought up is an example of twisting the legal system as this case is. However sometimes in justice common sense need not apply.

Hmm.... Ok, gotcha, there was the jury awards, but the settlement and agreement of the case have been sealed.

You are correct, I don't know all facts on this one apparently. From everything I have read and seen on this case.

Maybe you version of Wikipedia is missing this text: "the decision was appealed by both macdonalds and liebeck in dec 1994, but the parties settled out of court for an undisclosed amount less than 600,000.

I was going off my memory, then as soon as you mentioned the closed settlement I went and looked it up.
