Well, Apple has enough cash on hand to buy Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. Sometimes, buying all of your competitors doesn’t make sense, because it puts you under insane regulatory attention.
Apple's market cap is 2.11 Trillion. Microsoft 1.91 trillion. Sony 76.24 billion.

Well, as long as you don’t consider...

Google dropped Android developer commission rates to 15%...developers will eventually drop support of iOS en masse until Apple drops their rates. If Apple does drop the rate expect a continued race to the bottom.

They DID? When was that? Oh, yeah, it was right after Apple reduced THEIR cut to 15% for developer’s that make less than 1 million a year. :) Developer’s won’t drop iOS for one very important reason, iOS users, as a whole, pay for more apps than Android users. Now, is it because iOS users have more money? Is it because on Android it’s trivially easy to pirate? Who knows, but year over year the amount of money developers make on the smaller iOS market is a significant part of their revenue. The same app on Android? Well, as it’s likely to be pirated anyway, there will always ads and IAP, few “premium” one time purchase apps.

You say that like it’s news, or that it just happened, but they did so on October 21, 2021! Where’s that en masse exodus from Apple to Google?!?!

Probably the same place the mass exodus is for pc gaming to Mac gaming.

Ohhhhh, your whataboutism is showing!

And your false equivalency!

?
?
I wonder if EA gets bought by Apple if Disney would have another developer do the StarWars games.

Not saying Apple is going to by them. It is probable Amazon may though ?.

If Apple acquires EA it changes everything, but if Apple stays essentially in the light/casual gaming sector, where they are now, Google will do whatever they have to do to secure Android on Pixel phones to lure iOS mobile developers and users their users to Android (which they've been successful with in the past.) Google has been slavishly copying Apple's customer service model for some time now so they should be viewed as a threat.

Also, Andrew Wilson is a horrible CEO for gaming, hence why EA is in the position they are in now...searching for cash. Whatever nonsense clause they have regarding Wilson and the transition, if it's even real, must have been eroded from any realistic M&A discussions early on.

If Apple does acquire EA, Battlefront 3 will probably get fast tracked. The Disney-Apple relationship is/always has been great AFIK.

We can only hope they buy it, not they make all titles available for Apple Silicon, but it is a start.

Google did so after Apple dropped the commission to 15% for developers selling less than $1000k per year.

I don’t know if Apple should buy EA or not. It could possibly help the MacOS gaming landscape, but it’s really hard at this point to tell by how much.

I have a 2016 MBP that I use everyday, just not for gaming. It was a new $2000 computer that only has integrated graphics. This was after an Apple price increase. I bitched about then and gave up on Apple for any serious gaming. I‘m likely up for a Mac upgrade soon and might consider going to a MacBook Air. My home built PC handles all of my serious gaming needs.
Yep, you get rorted and still go back. It's such a win for them.
