And that is another example why apple has became a greedy company that do not focus on the consumers.

This is about as silly as the EU demanding that the European Catholic Church creates an app to help facilitate Christians into converting into Muslim Extremism.

Equating computer companies to religions. The next level in fanboyism?

Plenty of people, and thank god they exist as it gives apple a reason to improve their product... you know, like taking 7 years to allow users the option of having a custom keyboard.
Including me, if they drop the headphone jack I'll have to switch to an Android phone when my current iPhone finally breaks.
That said I've never had an Apple product break on me so it may be a while off!

Remember that whole kerfuffle with iMessage users switching to Android? Those affected didn't get text messages until they eventually addressed it a while later.

I don't believe that will cause a significant number of people to switch to Android phones. I do see significant numbers switching to cheaper Android phones now that subsidized phone contracts are gone or at least delaying their next iPhone purchase.
Why? When you go to buy a phone now they quote you zero down and a monthly installment price vs $199, $299 etc. Nobody is going to go Android because iPhone is $27/mo and an equivalent Android is $23/mo.

Google doesn't need an app. Just use your gmail account within exchange and sync all your info, data, etc to Gmail. Then disable imessages. Now, start Android phone, enter gmail credentials, wait, then profit.

Imessages probably won't transfer, but that's due to Apple not releasing any API's for that.
Why do people assume everyone is a user of Google services? The only Google app I use is YouTube.

This should be a standard on every platform in this generation, due to the technology is widely available and affordable to everyone. But it should be the platform tranferring to who develops the application. Like Apple developed the app Move to iOS or the Adobe Move to Lightroom. It shouldn't be hard for consumers if later on they decide to switch. After all the money invested and personal datas like contacts should go with them, obviously there are some exemptions. But for the most part like music, movies and some apps. The money we paid went to the same producers and developers or else that's double dipping. I have no intentions to leave Apple for now, I still like the the iOS and OS X. Another reason that I'm still with them because I already heavily invested on them. Music would not be a problem because I know how to move them to other platform. But the movies I bought from iTunes is the one I'm worried about except when I want to switch to PC only. Streaming should be a solution for this to keep customers if that's how they want instead of punishing them. If later on I decide to leave Apple, I should be able to stream my music and movies that I bought from them. Just my two cents.

Why would other manafactures follow apple, when thier units will have advantage over the iPhone by keeping the 3.5mm.

Because, thanks to Apple's vision, they, like you, will all eventually realize that an outdated, space-hogging jack is not necessary for a good audio experience. Are you new at this? Android oems have followed this model for the last 7 years.

They don't focus on consumers yet consumers can't stop buying their products o_O

Why would Apple need to create such a tool?
They made Move to iOS and published it on Android play. I'd expect Samsung and other companies to make a similar app and try to publish it to the app store. The only move required by Apple would be to accept the app and that would be the end of it

Note: having read comments on here, many people have not read the original article, and missed the point on why the pressure is on apple, in two words people : markert dominance . EU regulators butting in cause the big telcos are complaining!
and usually the most arrogant and childish comments come from people who missed the original point

Google didn't build tool to help very frustrated android users to help move to iphone.

If Apple has an app to switch from Android to iOS, then they surely know the files and processes involved. They would only have to switch most of the data back and do the opposite of the import scripts. Yes I am greatly oversimplifying the process, but my point is that Apple COULD make that app. Not that they ever would.

Software= yes! They do really nice things to make your life easier.
Hardware= Have you used their mice? Seen what they plan to do with the iPhone? Experienced an iPhone battery life?

How does that response have ANYTHING to do with what I said?

Polkatuck said that Apple not helping people switch from an iPhone to an Android was 'another example why Apple has become greedy and anti-consumer'

I laughed at that, as that makes no sense.

And you now talk about Hardware and Software?

I don't get it.

You don't realise the implications of this , though I suspect you think the apple headphones are quality and a wireless version would be perfect.

space hogging jack....lol....yeah I can charge and listen to music.... Think it through !

The way things are going in this suicidally PC, socialist hellhole, that is entirely plausible.

And thanks to Obama, the Western civilization's last hope, the US, is headed exactly the same way, just lagging behind a bit because of its late start...

I find it comical that you've "thought it through", yet you assume that Apple hasn't thought it through. Don't you think that they will come up with some sort of solution? Perhaps wireless charging? Why don't we wait for the product release before going into full blown complaint mode.

Please explain the implications. You'll now have Lightning-enabled Earpods that will sound at least as good as what you have now. You will have a new family of Bluetooth headphones that will sound at least as good as what you have now. You'll also have an adapter with which you'll be able to continue using your current headphones. Exactly what implications am I missing?

I did and there is no going back. I am happy with. There is no switching to iPhun, unless i see a very good reason and some missing things readded!

On another note, I sincerely hope that Apple creates a product called the iPhun!

Anything wrong with their mice? (Not that many people care; the trackpads on the MacBooks are still lightyears ahead of anything their competition produces, but I still have a mouse at home and I can't see anything wrong with it).

Apple is awful because of some rumours about future products? Wait until these future products are actually released, then you may complain.

Anything wrong with iPhone battery life? I have an iPhone 3GS where the battery still lasts all day.

All that ignoring the fact that your rant has nothing to do with the subject.

..., the Western civilization's last hope, the US, is headed exactly the same way, just lagging behind a bit because of its late start...

That's a good laugh. "Western civilisation's last hope".

I thought Android has market dominance in Europe?

I think I'll have to explain that to you. When they claim that Apple is doomed, because nobody buys Apple products, then Android has market dominance everywhere. But this is about evil Apple hurting poor little Google, so Apple has the market dominance and Android is the underdog. You see, whether Android has market dominance or not depends not on their sales, but on what somebody wants to prove.

Apple should invent a tool that if someone tries to migrate their data to Android.... well... accidents happen lol

Why would they? Because the European Communist Bureaucrats are powerful, and they can always sue and twist Apple's arm into doing a lot of stupid nonsensical things.

Are you sure it's a typo?

OH really! I'm quite sure the U.S. can teach us Europeans a thing or two about protectionism and arm twisting. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Whilst we are on the subject, where is it being stated that Google are trying to force Apple or anyone for that matter to make this app?

I doubt Google could care less about a small competitor making an app such as the one alleged in this apparent rumour. o_O

Main implication is COST. Or do you think that a wireless base will be free? Are you going to get a wireless base for home, office etc? For a price you can remove all the inconvenience of apple removing the iphone jack.

Do you believe that headphones with a lightning cable will be cheaper....nope.

Apple has thought it through..... I know it very well, I own a Retina Macbook...... accessories/adapters = $$$$. $150 in adapters, the issue with one port.......gone ;) While I am cool with that on a laptop, not on a phone. Having a decent headphone plugged into an adapter on the lightning port.....crap design. Its a usability headache, especially if you put your iphone in your pocket etc.

How about this, given we don't know about the implementation, Ill stop my complaint mode, if you stop your apology/defence mode? Agreed?
