Kids. I'm gonna poke a hole in your no home button theory.

The invitation is a photoshop job.

Please note the following :

The calendar icon is in focus.
The other icons are not in focus.
The bubbles are in focus also.

if this were a macro zoom photo the bubbles would not be in focus.

And unless Apple can go forward in time the calendar icon shows a future date. Making it a Ps job.

ummmmmmm.....it is their software, pretty sure I think they can handle making the calendar say whatever date they want it to. Cant you set that crap manually anyway?

I see no reason to remove the home button.

I don't like the home button on the iPad at all - a bezel solution is much better.

On the iPhone, however, I think it's a much better solution because of (a) the bezels size is smaller, (b) there is no bezel on the sides, and (c) when pulling the iPhone out of my pocket, the button gives me tactile feedback of the orientation of the phone (which is much more important than on the iPad). I can easily pull my phone out of my pocket, click the button, and know where to swipe without ever looking at the phone.

None of those reasons are valid for the iPad.

I like your ideas but the apps are too small and the dock is too small to be a tv dock
The casing looks just like an iPad case
And idk why they would have keynote on the tv?

Yea... As I mentioned before, Apple wouldn't make a touch screen iMac because of fatigue, so I highly doubt a TV would be any different. LOL

apple would never send out invites without thinking of each and every detail in the image. there's meaning in everything.

If it it has not been mentioned before:

The bezel on the extent iPads is measurably wider on the home button edge then on the sides...

...the bezel in the invite pix seems mighty wide, making me wonder if it is not indeed the home page edge. Which means...

Not meaning to inflate hopes, just pointing out...

With the finger specifically "Touching" the number 7, its a new 7" iPad. i.e. new touch device.

If that is the case then this could also refer to the see as well. Thus, there could be no retina. Or it could apply to a new 7" ipad and the larger with a retina screen.

Thanks. What's the best time to sell iPad 2? Right now? I'm a bit nervous about selling not knowing exactly what iPad 3 (assuming that's what they call it) will be and how soon it will be available. But I want to get a decent price for my iPad 2. It's in perfect condition.

Sell ASAP as the price will drop a little once the 3 is out, and eBay will soon be flooded with everyone else doing it.

There were rumors of the iPhone 5 dropping the home button (then we got a 4S). The iPad has so far showcased the hardware that goes into the coming iPhone... so maybe... just maybe... the home button rumors were true. IF this turns out to be the case, then we can probably except to see it taken off the iPhone 5.

I personally like the home button. ICS devices are going virtual buttons, and if you have a freeze or some other issue, you're kind of screwed.

Personally, I vote the image was in landscape mode. I want a home button!

Apparently some guy matched up drops inthe screen with his iPad and he said it was not in land scape mode
The home button is pretty useless because of the 5 finger pinch and swipe to switch apps and slip up with 4 for multitasking
I personally never press the button
The iPad would be the first in removing the button because of its large screen

But I do see your point in using it to reset the pad.
I will say that I don't think I have EVER had to use that to reset mine...

You guys. CLEARLY the announcement is a WATERPROOF IPAD! Look at all the water on the screen and it STILL WORKS!

Or going along the lines a previous post a new iTouch. In this case though at 7". This would actually make sense to fill the gap and compete with the Kindle Fire. Sort of make sense more then the iPad at 7" and goes with the play on the work touch as well.

just look at the standard background they used:

when the device is in landscape orientation, you don´t see those 6 big bubbles  .. so either they held it upside down or they did remove the home button.

oh and by the way, you can see the difference between retina and standard-res.

I'd be more inclined to say they are using a new image. If they step up to Retina the existing iOS5 wallpaper is going to look horrible, so they would need to re-create it. Since it's a photoshop made paper in the first place, they probably just re-created it from scratch.
