The icons are much bigger than an ipad2 , compare your own finger near the icons of your iPad 2 or iPad to the picture. I think theirs Going be a bigger version of an iPad.

You are looking at a standard (~27") TV that is connected to a new Apple TV with 1080p resolution. The hand is mocking a touch on the TV, a metaphor for the fact that you can use your iPad3 with touch, and you can see it on the TV in full 1080p via AirPlay. The picture is rotated so that you can't immediately notice that the device isn't on the table but hung on a wall like every other TV these days.

That's my answer and I'm sticking to it! I better get props if I'm right!

Ever tried to load a webpage on an EDGE connection? This site isn't just desktop users.

Ever heard of the mobile site, or Tapatalk? Works fine. Again, your bitching about small images is completely unnecessary and whiny. Typical for Mac Rumors, I know, but unnecessary and whiny nevertheless.

If you don't like it, report the post and keep OT crap like this out of the thread.

Apparently you missed the people quoting me, agreeing with me, and saying there are bandwidth constrained.

I am a newbie, but... what i meant, is that on the 7th, Apple is launching a tactile iMac...
Oh, okay.
Well... except that they won't be launching a tactile iMac, of course. ;)

So for all of you that are pinning your hopes and dreams on a quadrupled 2048x1526 sceen:

Would you buy it if this "retina" version was the next logical leap in screen scaling:1600x1200?

Yes, apple would be adding some fragmentation with introduction of a new screen resoluton that isn't at a multiple of other screens. They did twice before. Iphone->ipad->iphone 4.
Sorry, that's just wrong. The iPhone 4 didn't add fragmentation that way. To applications, the iPhone 4 screen is still 480x320 points, exactly the same as the older iPhones. On a 2048x1536 pixel iPad, applications will still see a 1024x768 point screen, just like they do on the current model.

The thing about the "retina" display implementation on iOS (and OSX from 10.7 forward) is that you don't have to redesign the UI, change tap targets or anything like that. You just add double-resolution artwork and you're done – nothing else changes. If you don't provide double-resolution artwork, it compensates by simply pixel doubling, therefore maintaining full compatibility to older applications.

Really? You picked that up did you? What gave it away?

Maybe if you read the last line and the person I was replying to you might get that it was a lie as sarcasm, deliberately constructed to be unbelievable. *sigh* Context is dead.

Another Aussie? I'm hoping the ssd will be 128GB. We are travelling at the end of the year and we want to use an ipad and forgo a laptop.

Yes. :)

Personally I don't mind, I have the 32gb iPhone 4S ... thinking maybe on the iPad 3 I should get 64gb? I also want it sort of as an laptop, but I won't matter if it doesn't do everything a laptop does :D

I'm a wannabe photographer and want to store photos for a few days, plus music and videos.

Raw photos take a fair bit after a few thousand. Though I might get by on a 64gb one.

I have the 64gb 4s and I've filled about 5%. But I only have 4gb of audio.

Anyone else notice that the finger in the announcement is not to scale with the icons? It's much smaller in proportion to an iPad icon.

ipad 3 + Siri

If Apple brings Siri to the iPad 3 would it just be on those with cellular capabilities or could they also bring to wifi?

Yes. :)

I got the 64GB 4S and I've only got about 6GB free. Most of it is from apps, too

i got like 40gb used. rest is free, for holiday photos and videos.

On ipad its a different story. thats more like a computing device and my 64gb ipad usally has about 1gb free. wish it could contain more.

Will there be a spoiler-free thread with the link to the keynote once it's posted?

MS Office on iPad 3

Just putting this out there…
It seems to me that in a few days time Apple will be making a big hoop-la announcing the new iPad - a lovely new retina display, a faster processor, and nearly 1mm thicker - nothing which is really going to get the average punter out there saying “I've got to have this”. What would though given what we think we know is coming? In mid February we had the rumours that MS are working on Office for the iPad, and someone saw working versions of this, but all denied by MS. Office on the iPad would be that big thing that pushes it way out in front of the other wanna-be tablets, and would get the iPad even faster into the business environments Apple are pursuing. So does anyone else think that maybe some bigwig from MS will be presenting Office for the iPad 3 in a few days?

The big worry is that Apple make it only available for the iPad 3, like Siri is only available for iPhone 4s.
