I have sympathy for the poor east-coast reporters (like @ihnatko) who have the tradeoff: buy bargain tickets based on the rumored date for an event, or wait for Apple's announcement a week before the event and get charged sky-high prices. It's a dilemma.

Maybe somebody out there sells travel insurance if a rumored Apple announcement doesn't pan out. :D

There's a flaw in your theory.

You're not taking into account the difference in resolution.

;)

That doesn't make any sense. My iPhone 3GS' icon placement isn't any different than an iPhone 4 (which has twice the resolution).

And I literally just paid my credit card off this morning.... And I just got a MacBook air on Friday... I think the wife is gonna be upset with me!

I am excited for this, my iPad 1 is chugging along fine, and still does what I need but...

I feel the same way. My iPad 1 is still an amazing device that does everything I need. Gonna be pretty hard for me to come up with something after the "but...".

Why no home button?

Maybe it's really THICK now, and the buttons are just further away

Or maybe it's a TRIANGLE now...

and the buttons are somewhere else!

:D

Thats doesn't make the image change positioning... Just quality.

Your theory is flawed. LOL :p

What I meant was the wallpaper. We're used to seeing a wallpaper that is 1024X768 in size.

This new wallpaper might be a different size thus making the bubbles appear in different places on the screen.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

This is so going to be available to purchase on march 7th... Exciting...

You know they will have to make new versions of all the wallpaper for the higher res screen right, a slight change in the wallpaper doesnt mean it's a mockup.

I get what you mean, but no...
Apple just make a higher resolution version, keeping stuff in the same place.
Someone else has used the example of the wallpaper on the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 (higher resolution), and they look the same.

I'd like to toss in my 2 cents about the Home button. It's definitely needed on the iPhone. On the iPad? I never use it. I do the pinch maneuver all the time. The only place I'd see it useful on the iPad is children... my daughter's hand doesn't seem to be big enough to tell the iPad she is doing the 4 finger pinch.

I actually feel that the Home button is one of the things that makes Apple devices easy to understand. I know that wherever I am, whatever I'm doing, all I need to do is push that button and I'll be back to a known state (the app launcher).

Every time I pick up another tablet, like the RIM PlayBook, any variety of Android devices, Kobo Touch, etc. the first thing I do is figure out how to get to the apps. Left and right swipe across multiple pages is pretty much universal now, but the rest is not intuitive: do I swipe up from the bottom? Down from the top? In from the side? A soft button in the corner?

You can give the iPad to someone who has never seen one before and they'll quickly figure out what the Home button does. How long would it take them to figure out how to do the pinch gesture without you telling them?

But the question remains, why does this guy's thumb glow so much?

Kind of a weird position for your thumb to start glowing.
