...I'm waiting to see all the witticisms the ultra-creative anti-Apple hate botters will post when the new creation is finally unveiled. That too should be pretty amusing.

1. They will b*tch about the pricing.
2. They will b*tch about the specs.
3. They will b*tch about the feature set.
4. They will b*tch about the release date.
5. They will b*tch.

iSlate?
iTablet?
iNewton?
Canvas?
iPallet?
iTab?
MacTouch?

Interesting names, but did anyone think that it could be something completely original to the device?

I mean who would have come up with the name iPod for an MP3/AAC player BEFORE it came out?

Just a thought.

The Snapple!

I really don't think the colors should be scrutinized in analyzed...though I am interested in what hidden meaning the random color blotches have.

Okay, here is my analysis of the random color blotches...

Is Apple the first to create a "Tablet"?

No!

Are there 'tablets' out there?

Yes!

Is there content for those tablets?

Yeah, sort of.

Is there a comprehensive eco system of tablet - software - content out there?

No! Just like there were MP3 players and digital songs, but no clear cut eco system to tie everything together.

The random color blotches signify that although there is everything out there for the grabbin'... It's all still a mess! A colorful mess at that.

And just like the iPod, iTunes Store and iTunes software, Apple is coming along to clean everything up and clear everything up with regards to tell us why we need one more gadget out there and in the form of a "Tablet"!

Apple's got to do it again!! :apple:

That's of course the analytical side of me...

If I were just looking at it from a layman's point of view, I'd say the colors make it eye catching in order to get my attention to read the writing on the announcement!

BUMMER!!!

I was probably the only one waiting for this to happen on January 26TH

I would be pissed to return my macbook pro 2.8 on the 26th (last day of my return) only to waste 15% of $2,299 re-stocking fee only to find out theres nothing for me worth getting from this announcement. haha.. oh well!!!

Steve Jobs is going to go up on stage with two iTables looking like Moses and give us 9 reasons why we should buy it. Then he will give us a "oh and one more thing!" and then things will never be the same.

Okay, here is my analysis of the random color blotches...

Is there content for those tablets?

Yes, the same content that is available for your windows PC

Is there a comprehensive eco system of tablet - software - content out there?

Yes, the same software as you would run on your windows PC.

Good idea about the blotches, each individual component or dependency that makes up the entire Tablet product.

possibilities

Ok, I didn't read the other 17 pages of posts yet, so don't ridicule me if someone else already mentioned this...or ridicule, your angry bytes can't hurt me.

What if the tablet is as other have assumed (think basic features of the rumored iSlate, etc.), but the killer functionality is you plop it in front of your iMac and it is a new input device. A drawing tablet matches the "latest creation" motif, but since it has a screen, software applications could overlay different buttons, etc. Also, this would add multi-touch to the iMac.

Yes, the magic mouse makes this seem a little far fetched...

Here's a name that I haven't seen tossed around for the tablet:

Canvas

The Apple announcement looks like an artist painting on a 'canvas', and artists are usually 'creating' things, so maybe extrapolating both it would be an interesting name? Anyone else agree?

If so, I wonder how I could lock myself in as the first one who suggested that 'Canvas' would be the name of the Apple tablet?

Yeah, but "Canvas" can denote a blank area or one can envision a finished painting... See canvas various definitions... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&defl=en&q=define:canvas&ei=_cNUS9jhJof2sQOOq9jaBw&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title&ved=0CAkQkAE
Canvas, keeping with the artist theme, shows us a finished product but what does a painter need to get there?

The "Palette"

Full of radom colors to be combined to make even more colors with multiple brushes and tools to allow one to generate and produce that which is within them!

Now all those random blotch colors makes sense...

See Palette defined... http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=define:+palette&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

With regards to locking in the "Canvaas" name... If it's already called the "Canvas", I bet it has been decided upon before now... Nice try though! ; )

And with regards to how does one hold it while typing on it... A Palette defined: A slab of wood, metal, marble ceramic, plastic, glass, or paper, sometimes with a hole for the thumb, which an artist can hold while painting and ... So they would put their thumb through the hole! : )

I want iphone 4G

121424-apple_jan_27th_invitation_500.jpg

Engadget reports that Apple has issued invitations for a media event scheduled on January 27th. The invitation's tag line reads "Come see our latest creation."

Apple had been rumored earlier this month to have scheduled a media event for that date at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Apple is widely expected to introduce its highly-anticipated tablet device at the event.

I will..

Visualize. A commercial in black and white.

A 1940's style diner. Everybody and everything is in black and white.

A person walks in with the ******* and sits down. It's in color. The person starts to read the New York Times. In full color.

Everybody in the diner gathers around to look at it.

Great creativity. Taught in Creative Art 201.

And that's about when the first color TV's came out. Late 40's to early 50's.

I really like this idea and think I will steal a few elements from it in my theory:
1940's style dinner all black and white
A person walks in with a device that looks like the Kindle (as Apple couldn't just put it directly in an add) and is reading a textbook/ the paper in black and white.
New guy walks in with Apple TAblet it is in color, sits next to kindle guy.
Color from Apple Tablet slowly diffuses around area and with it changing everyones cloths to their modern equivalents
Guy in Kindle still in Black and White/ old cloths
Tagline: This will change everything!
Apple Logo
Fade to black
New commercial for McDonalds or something :)
