My left-brain is telling me not to get overexcited and ultimately disappointed on the evening of the 27th.

My right-brain is jizzing itself.

Very excited!

Can anyone tell me when we can expect to be able to watch the keynote online?
No one knows for sure.

Historically, Apple posts video to its website a day or two later. They don't stream video from their live events.

As with other product announcements, you should be able to follow the proceedings via liveblogging from the standard tech media sources (Cnet, Engadget, Gizmodo, etc.).

I'm actually quite excited, hopefully this will be a great event, we haven't had a truly good one since the iPhone announcement.

As a long time Apple stockholder, I seriously beg to differ. :D

As a longtime Mac user (i.e., owned Macs through the dark days of the 90s), I seriously beg to differ too.

Actually, I'm just happy not to see the word beleaguered in every article about Apple.

Apple used to actually stream the events live, this stopped at MacWorld 2005 IIRC.

I am pretty sure Apple is unveiling their new web site that is integrated with all of their devices that lets consumers rate their favorite and least favorite products as quickly as a few key punches.

Apple will be announcing iRate on the 27th of January.

Something tells me to advise you to stop responding to these posts for the next week, if you want to remain sane. Instead, start amassing posts like those to quote on the 27th.

Haha, ya. I haven't been giving in much lately, but it boggles my mind that some people still think they will get Mac OS X on this thing! I just am not looking forward to these delusional people all whining after the event!

Oh well... I am EXCITED! :D

Read again. I said I am hoping there is SOMETHING for me on the 27th. I am not saying a tablet would replace my macbook. I did not buy the macbook late in the cycle. My girlfriend received one FOR FREE for her scholarship. I had a MBP 2.6 since it came out in JUNE 2009. We just traded. I now have the 2.8 + a 14 day return if i want to.

so your gf gave you a 14 day return policy?? lol. just keep your laptop man, nothing to get all worried about.

me, i'm looking forward to the new technology.

I'm an artist and the invitation image spells content creation as a main selling point in my humble opinion ;-)

If the product does content creation (hopefully as responsive as sketchbook pro on a Wacom), and does it well, I'm sold!

All the other consumer ebook/web stuff will come as standard but in an apple refined fashion.

Wonders if the image was actually created on the device/software itself?

Girlfriends who have return policies would be great. Take them out to dinner and get some sexy time and you don't like it? She has to pay you back for dinner.

This made me laugh.

'Come and see our latest creation' sounds pretty broad to me...could mean the rumoured tablet, new creative software...coloured Macs, perhaps? Or I could be totally wrong. :p

I agree with you. The new iLife/iWork is going to be focused for the Tablet.

Haha. LOL.

the brandnew one came with a 14 day return policy and it's free. We just traded. Im more than willing to keep this machine but hey if you buy a brandnew car today only to find out a newer model could be out tomorrow and all you gotta pay is 15% why not right? We'll see. Im still hopeful of a MBP update but if not, I would gladly keep my laptop. It is more than sufficient for my needs.
:D:apple:

I am certain that alot of members here are more than willing to get a newer model if it will only cost them $340+. Thats just the point im trying to say. No big deal.

Multi colored MacBooks? Like Dell's.

Invoke-Full-name-of-your-favorite-Diety-here, folks....

Take a breath, people. Calm down. Relax. Lower your guard just a bit.
It's only a device... non-materialism... non-materialism... higher consciousness... oommmm...ooommm...

(are they relaxed? Guard dropped a bit? Good, then I'll just slip by them in line, here at the ol' :apple: Store, and scoop up one of these AmazingAwesomeFreakishlyCoolWunderKindE-gasm devices while they are meditating... mwa ha ha ha ha!!!!)

I have to say that your avatar is EXTREMELY disturbing to me. WTF would PETA say?

Why is it labeled as an "creative" event when all signs point to the tablet being a media consumption device?

Take the word consumption out of that.
Also think about the more traditional meaning of the word media.
Not the industry but materials used for conveying a message both production and delivery.

So it could be a "media" device and be about both creation and consumption.

Oh? You have proof of a tablet? Where? I wanna see!

Everybody is speculating. What if it's not a tablet?

There's a lot of hints pointing at a tablet but we could all be just taking the hints the wrong way.

Remember when everyone was CERTAIN the iPhone nano was going to come out?

Nope. Never even heard of an iPhone Nano. I think if Apple don't unveil a tablet, people will be very disappointed with whatever they do unveil.

Well after the event you can make a People Who Wanted the iSlate to Run "Full" Mac OS X Instead of an iPhone OS Variant: Come Here to Whine for Therapy thread.

I'm also excited for next Wednesday. :D (As well as any notebook updates on or around the event.)
