And you're comfortable leaving a new iPad in your hotel room?

I'd rather leave my MBP if I had too.

Interesting point. The MBP could be secured with a Kensington lock/cable, I'll admit. However, the iPad can slip into one of my wife's larger purses and brought along if need be, or can fit in the small in-room safe in most hotel rooms. Not so my 17" MBP. If the iPad gets damaged (or stolen), I'm out much less money too.

Maybe a beta version to Devs as a 'one more thing' item

It seems like this will be the first multiple product release.
The cant go solo for the first time ever... usually the release every product on its own... But that cant happen due to Lightpeak/Thunderbolt.

They HAVE to be released around each other. From a business point op view... ussualy not smart. But this can trigger compleet refreshes for people. For example me. I switched from windows 1 year ago to a 13" macbook unibody non pro. I love it now after a year. I need loads of tools, and couldn't find them in the past. This problem isnt there anymore.

Lion is also in the mix is my guess.. Its easier to release Lightpeak with its own OS. No backward compatibility problems.

Nice date picking by apple. Day 2 of CeBIT in Hannover (traditionaly the Day the new Products are having the big presentations for the media)

On the other Hand CeBIT has shifted back towards business clients and this does not seem to be a major target group for apple these days...so the date could be a coincident. But then again I doubt apple will pass up a chance to steal away the thunder from Asus and all the other tablet producers showing up in good'ol'germany.

Clearly, it will NOT be the year of good grammar.
:p

Why, because the sentence ends with 'of'? Strictly speaking, English doesn't have prepositions; Latin does. It was those pesky Victorians who erred in Latinizing English grammar.

March 2nd....

DUAL (2) core processor
DUAL (2) core GPU
TWICE the screen resolution (2x).......(Maybe....)
TWICE the RAM (2x)

iPad 2

I can totally see them milking that.

It will be a retnia screen, even though it doesn't make any sense. There is the same lighting effect on the screen of the iPad as the iPhone 4. The current generation iPad stock photos don't have it. This proves it is going to be retnia.

I maybe going too far into this...but apart from the obvious (huge number 2, ipad etc.)...

The battery icon is visible, longer battery life perhaps??

As someone said before...maps app is visible, so apple's own map service...a revamp?

Way too far!

That does seem to fit, though I shall be a spectator only, as an iPad doesn't fit my life at all.

Only the ignorant think that. Just not possible with today's tech to deliver twice the resolution at the price points they have established.

Riiiight, last year everyone thought Apple's tablet would cost at the minimum $1000. Of course they must have been all ignorant to think that Apple spent tons of money to get the best prices for their iPad.

Who is to say that Apple will not do that with iPad 2? There are basically two things going for iPad 2, Light Peak or Thunderbolt and Higher Resolution. Everything else makes the iPad 2, camera, ram, faster processor just an iPad 1.5. And it makes the "iPad 2" to have have similar specifications of all the upcoming tablets.

So if that is the case what makes it better than the others? iTunes and it's apps, but you don't need an iPad 2 for that....an iPad would be just fine but higher resolution, no other tablet will come close to touching the iPad 2.

Yay, only 1 more week until we can read all the posts by people who are disappointed by the features of the iPad 2.

The Apple products cycle

1) Speculate about features
2) Read news stories of feature speculations
3) Read other speculations countering the speculations
4) Speculate about the speculations about speculations
6) Set your hopes unreasonably high
7) When a product is announced, start complaining about what wasn't included
8) Curse Apple
9) Purchase Apple product anyway
10) Return to #1

I just hope the main focus is iOS5 and iPad 2 is the one more thing. I want to know whether or not to jump ship from the iOS platform come this summer.

About time for an Apple conference. :D Hopefully they'll fit in a couple minutes of Lion too, since they made it sound like they are talking about everything in 2011.
