I hope they preview iOS 5. Android Honeycomb looks pretty slick. But I bet apple has a few tricks up it's sleeve. :)

Yay, only 1 more week until we can read all the posts by people who are disappointed by the features of the iPad 2.

post of the day.

but anyway, i've been looking forward to the ipad 2 for a little bit, as it's a belated christmas gift.

I'm a little disappointed about the size of that bezel. I was hoping they would get it about half that size.
I'd be highly surprised if that is the new iPad. They can't give out a picture of it yet... It would spoil the surprise. That's iPad 1.

I also wouldn't be surprised of they have a brand new default desktop pattern, which I think will be standard every year. -- new year, new iPad, new desktop.

You apparently have missed WebOS and Honeycomb videos and demos.

Nope, watched them both avidly. Thing was i didn't see a single thing they could do that the iPad v1.0 couldn't. Sure some of the UI elements were more polished, but if you wayed up the unique features of them versus the unique features of the iPad, they still came up short.

I'll leave one exception, that was the webos URL exchange via their inductive loop charging system 'touchstone'. That was nice, but limited to webos devices. I'm fully expecting NFC across the board on all iOS devices this year.

That graphic is not very good. Very "un-apple." Does that added reflection extend off the edge of the iPad? Did the designers forget how to design once Steve left? Maybe this image just looks bad ripped out of it's context? So many questions...

That "reflection" beyond the edge of the iPad is just the actual edge of the image background. The image ends there. Look at the other corner above "March": same thing. Just looks odd because most sites have the image against a white background in a column formatted wider than the image.

They are still around, doing their jobs to pour as much cold water on Apple as they can credibly get away with. Now that they were proven wrong that no one would want an iPad, they have switched gears and are steadily predicting that no one will want an iPad unless it has . . . well, whatever it is that they are pushing this month. Retina display? Flog that idea. Camera? Been pushing that idea for a long time.

When iPad 2 comes out, these will be the folks who will ignore the good parts and instead focus on every perceived flaw they can find.

I'm not a whiner or complainer, but if version 2 doesn’t have an iSight / FaceTime camera, that will be a serious flaw. Otherwise, I don’t know what they could do to it (this time around) other than spec bumps, better battery, and possibly lighter.

Where they will compete is with a significantly different iOS 5...whenever that comes out. A pie in the sky hope is for some sort of file system and allow the thing to be used as a mountable external drive. But this is Apple we’re talking about.

I'm just hoping this event offers a preview of iOS 5 w/ a revamped push notification system. The current notification system is terrible.

+1000 Modal popups need to go bye bye. :(

Ooh please say march 9th release so I can get one from the states rather than pay the +50% the uk Market charges!!

Unlikely.. I know :(

Yeah, you're right. My guess is that the entire invite was on a grey background, but just the image was pulled from it.

Nonsense. The average person doesn't care about that. The thing will sell like crazy.

 so who did they create and market the brand "Retina Display" and pioneer the usage of higher-than-print-quality resolution in affordable consumer mobile devices for then?

Hooray for a correct rumor!

As far as pricing and buying, I believe I should have already began putting money back. Now, if the iPad were to come out late-April, the reserve will be totally possible for me. ;)

no statement is true unless it has more than 100 exclamation marks.

false!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I realize (or at least hope) you're joking, but there's no such thing as "good" grammar--there's just an arbitrary standard, although on top of that we have such nonsense prescriptivist rules as the one you're mentioning. I mean, seriously, are they supposed to say "Come see of what 2011 will be the year"?

Yes... "[t]his is the sort of bloody nonsense up with which I will not put." ;)

false!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's true.

So, a fairly obvious hint that this is the new iPad in the picture. And we also notice the only icon that is visible is the Maps icon. Something new with maps? Apple rolling out their own service?

Thats just the iOS 4 screen used on apple's website. The map icon is always in the corner. If anything its disappointing that there is no difference in the screen shown...

Yeah, and other companies cycles goes like this:

1) no one cares about rumors, 'cause their products are mostly dead on arrival
2) when it comes, it has lot of-wanna-be-features, no one will ever use more then occasionaly, rest is half baked
3) few weeks later comes another product with some different code name, with physical keyboard as a additional new feature :)
4)no one complains, no one care, 'cause already in line for apple product :apple:
