reading any iOS tread makes me feel more stupid with all the weird and infantile comments posted around (like if it were a bad cold just spreading the hole forum)

I'm just saying that they could announce the ipads now and then make them come out at june... I'm just saying (I don't know if anyone has said this but I want to point it out anyway)

Predictions:

(1) iPad 2 - Front VGA camera, HD video back camera (poor still performance), A5 dual-core chip, better graphics, 512 RAM, larger speaker, thinner, lighter, same screen (except it may contain less glare).

(2) iWork - upgrade for the iPad + Mac version to follow in a few weeks.

(3) Photo-booth for iOS - video recording and photo effects

(4) iMovie for iPad - Following the camera news, and the iPhone app, Apple will create an iPad version.

(5) iOS 5 developer preview - not sure what will be in it, but I imagine they may show it off now.

You mean the disappointment coming from Android tablets that can't even start competing with a one-year old iPad? Absolutely.

Smoke'em, Apple...leave none alive!

Apple is about being ahead of the curve. With the iPad 1, they were. However with the upcoming iPad 1.5 (if it is missing the 2X increase in resolution) will be on par with the other tablets coming out over the next 12 months.

If they did this, there would be a riot. Like, full on geek riot at the Apple Store.

I think they ship a week later.

I don't think they'll explicitly announce the amount of RAM, regardless of whether they update it or not (just like they didn't mention it for iPad 1).

Thunderbolt is also the name of a phone. You can buy thunderbolt cables now but they are connector cables for that particular phone. If this is the name of this new type of cable, it will get confusing until that phone goes away.

Here's a tip then... The Apple ones will be the ones that are solid white and cost about 4x as much.

I'm not expecting them to announce it, but I doubt it will have 1 gig, and it will definitely have more than the current 256.

I also expect Photobooth for iOS.

It's so funny reading all the "OMG, no 2x resolution?/I'll have to wait yet another year to get my first iPad" posts. You guys are hilarious. :D

Very excited to see what the new iPad will have...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

So could it be that mysterious mdp size hole in the iPad 2 case design is meant for tge integration of light peak into the mdp in the new MacBooks? Is this why they timed things like this? Can we expect the iPad 2 to no longer be an oversized iPhone and now be a portable external touch screen?

I've only always wanted 4 things from this update:

128 GB Flash (or SD that could store and access music and video), 4G, a smaller 7" or 8" form factor, and 512+ RAM. I'll get the latter but not the other three.

I could care less abour a camera (absolutely no use), increase processor speed (nice but speed is currently not really an issue), or Light Peak (what the heck would THAT be used for anyway).

Probably wait for the iPad 3 or go with Xoom.

This. Why is everyone waiting for iOS 5? What happened to 4.3-4.9? Aren't there enough significant improvements in iOS generations to wonder? It's like asking "When is Mac OS 11.0 coming out? Hopefully they'll preview it next wednesday" There's plenty left between 4.3 and 5.0. Just saying.

And I'm definitely buying this one. I'm guessing 1GB ram and dual core processor. FaceTime camera of course and personally I'd like to see a USB drive or that Thunderbolt drive as well.

I hope you realize that iOS 3.1.3 was the last one for the iPhones before the 4.0 upgrade. iPads had iOS 3.2 remember?
Apple (or any company for that matter) doesn't have to release an update from 4.3 to 4.9, they are just going to release 4.3 and then release 5.0 afterwards.
You can't compare iOS to the Mac OS X, because iOS just moves way too fast, development wise.

On topic: the tagline suggests that we might see more than just the iPad 2. Here's hoping.

March 2nd for iPad 2.... Haha

You make the same error the iPod competitors made: as long as you compete on hardware specs, you think you've trumped Apple. We see how well that worked with the iPod, and the same will be true with the iPad to a lesser degree (people will buy Honeycomb tablets more than they bought iPod wannabees).

The entire system that Apple has built for their iOS devices is what sells, not the hardware specs. Only the geeks care about that. The other 90% of the market wants to know that everything just works, they can get the apps they see advertised on TV, their music collection works, they can get books from any source they want, etc.

So keep pushing the idea that the market will crush the iPad because of hardware specs. It's the other 90% of the market that will continue buying iPads by the millions.

Does anyone think they will announce anything about the iPhone 5? I'm really interested to see what's going on with that.

Hoping for an across the board storage doubling to 32, 64 and 128GB. Then I could really carry my entire music library and a large selection of movies and video.

1.2 ghz processor, vga front/rear cameras, same screen, new speaker, 512mb ram, thinner, lighter, better battery life. This is what I expect.

This seems less likely given Apple's (supposed) investment in the cloud.

What if this means no revamped Macbook Pro until after the event? Wouldn't that seem like strange timing to release the new Macbook Pros on Thursday and then a week later host an event?

I don't see that happening. I have an order for 2 x 17" and 1 x 13" in and they have both been delayed until after thursday. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't hold my orders until March 2nd.

What!!

Something must be wrong....

I just checked the mail and I didnt get an invitation!!! Dang!! Let me text good ol Steve and see whats up....
