Apple Issues Invitations for March 2nd Media Event to Introduce Next-Generation iPad

It seems that Apple wouldn't have an event for just a speed bump and a thinner enclosure. I really think we'll see Retina in this thing. Hoping at least.

What about the new iPhone every year? or the iPod announcements? The iPad sold A LOT of copies.. it's something to have a press conference over. The new MBPs.. not so much. I'm waiting for both.. so I'm impatiently waiting.

Possibly a mobileme update as well?

There should be a Mac event on the summer for Lion so...

The huge 2 suggests it will be on march second. The picture of the iPad in the back suggests it will be for the new iPad. Dummy.

Perhaps this is not the 2nd Gen iPad in the invite and is simply telling people ther will be an update! It looks exactly alike, screen and all. Apple will introduce the actual one at the event, this is just to play with your mind.

No they don't. We've yet to see any kind of innovation in any other tablet.

Wishful thinking and coincidence... that wallpaper was the default when I upgraded my iPad to iOS 4.

That graphic is not very good. Very "un-apple." Does that added reflection extend off the edge of the iPad? Did the designers forget how to design once Steve left? Maybe this image just looks bad ripped out of it's context? So many questions...

I would like the bezel to be thinner. I don't need that much blank space just to hold the device, I can hold my iPod Touch without any problems and it has a bezel of like 3 mm on the sides.

But that's because it fits entirely in the palm of one's hand, surely?

The size and weight of the iPad (certainly the current model) requires that holding it in one hand requires a bezel big enough to cradle the weight with the thumb and fingers.

My thumb fits in the bezel almost perfectly, without encroaching on the screena and accidentally triggering an event.

Yes, it will be a boring keynote: no Steve and no 2x res bump.

It's sad that the technologies exist but Apple isn't interested in using them, for the moment, just because of marketing... 2 months ago it was given for sure by reliable sources the 2x resolution screen. Also, what if Apple is sticking with a better A4 and no going A5 since the display doesn't need much power?

This is my killer feature, I'm not buying this year.
