They are still around, doing their jobs to pour as much cold water on Apple as they can credibly get away with. Now that they were proven wrong that no one would want an iPad, they have switched gears and are steadily predicting that no one will want an iPad unless it has . . . well, whatever it is that they are pushing this month. Retina display? Flog that idea. Camera? Been pushing that idea for a long time.

When iPad 2 comes out, these will be the folks who will ignore the good parts and instead focus on every perceived flaw they can find. iPad 2 will sell tens of millions of units anyway. These folks won't notice. Instead they'll be moaning how iPad 3 "had better have . . ." whatever they decide then, "or else everyone will be disappointed."

They will never cease being wrong. They will never cease not to care that they are wrong. They have an agenda that has nothing to do with accuracy and everything to with picking sides.

I still love the "because it sells alot means it great" argument. Or "Because it sells alot it doesnt need to add X features."

Oh no!

I peeled back my LCD to see the whole iPad behind the number 2 calendar sheet. But not it's broken I think. In fact I can't see whar i"m tuping oh noes

Yeah right........

Apple sells millions of these things with very small updates because they've brainwashed people like you with marketing campaigns. The iPad 2 will be far inferior to the specs of most othe 2011 tablet releases. This will be a ridiculously minor update.

You mean the original iPad? And definitely! They will probably knock off the price in just a few weeks.

Yeah whoops got a little ahead of myself there with the "2." lol, but ok. Guess I'll be returning it, I hope it gets released soon though, I don't want to be without it! I love this thing so much!

Maybe for you but not for 99% of the people that will buy and love iPad 2.

2011 looks like it will be an AMAZING year

Lion
New FCP
iPad 2
SB based hardware
IOS4.4
iPhone 5
The NC Cloud ...
and more....

So much for all the never ending nay sayers and BS supply chain analysts.

Apple continues to set the pace for innovation and an incredibly rich pipeline.

Go Steve & Apple Team!!!!

IOS 5.0 bro when the Iphone 5 comes out.

They might even preview IOS 5.0 next week....

While i don't expect the "retina display", i would like a better resolution. Compared to my iPhone 4, my iPad looks straight up blurry. Especially when you're typing and the little magnifying bubble pops up when trying to place the cursor. Sorry, but the iPhone 4 screen quality is SO good, that it makes everything else look like crap. I do understand the issues this could cause with the app developers, so it isn't like i'll be one of those irate fanboys fuming over the "latest upgrade fail".

My wish list: Faster Processor, higher resolution, cameras. If it only has a faster processor and cameras, i may not upgrade. If they bump the resolution, i'm upgrading for sure.

Excellent news.
I will be buying on release day.

:D

I guess they could have cleaned up the corners a bit, but unprofessional?

You're right unprofessional is the wrong word, it looks a bit sloppy. Like you said, the corners could use some touching up. The bottom of the invitation with the grey sides also looks odd to me as well.

On another note, it should be an interesting event.

ALL THESE RUMORS!

Been a great week for Macrumors, and for us. To think, we get the new MBs tomorrow, and then an event in a week. Fundom.

What are you talking about man?

The IPAD 2 will have the A5 chip which will be a dualcore Cortex A9 at least 1 GHZ or greater...and lightpeek port...Not other tablet has this port...

People are missing the hint, the major news out of this won't be iPad 2 (which of course will be announced) it is what 2011 will be the year of... CLOUD COMPUTING FROM APPLE. They will demo iOS 5.0 and the free MobileMe (or whatever they might rename it) services such as iOS wireless backup and sync, photo/video/music cloud computing and more. Perhaps even cloud computing initiatives that sync with Lion, but this is going to be the year Apple gets real with cloud computing.

I'm kind of surprised that the image of the iPad behind the peeled back calendar seems to be the exact same one as the current iPad. This doesn't necessarily mean that it won't look different, but you'd think they would show off a corner of the new version...similar to how they did with OSX Lion when they announced that event...

Is there any reason why the bevel needs reducing?

I would like the bezel to be thinner. I don't need that much blank space just to hold the device, I can hold my iPod Touch without any problems and it has a bezel of like 3 mm on the sides. The iPad could be much smaller and could look much better with a thinner bezel, and I'm sure Apple would do everything they can to reduce it if technology would allow. Apparently, it's not possible just yet.

Retina Dispal

So, a fairly obvious hint that this is the new iPad in the picture. And we also notice the only icon that is visible is the Maps icon. Something new with maps? Apple rolling out their own service?

If you look at the iPad image in the background, it has the same wallpaper the iPhone 4 had when they intorduced the Retina display. I wonder if this is also a hint...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8C148)

YES!!!!!!!!!

YES!!!!! I've been waiting for this day for so long. Watching the rumors and finally we get the invite sent out. My birthday is in March so isn't that convenient....wonder what to get :D

I don't care what it has, I'm getting it. And I'm pretty sure they will ship as soon as it is announced. Cannibalism is going to happen if it doesn't. Osbourne effect anyone?

The iPad is just grainy to me. I use it to read scientific papers all the time and have to pinch/zoom ~125% in to not see the grain in the text. I don't know if I've been spoiled by the iPhone 4 or not.

I'd say so. The PPI on the current iPad is 133ppi. That is more than most laptops and about the same as the current MBPs.

The highest spec I could find on an announced tablet was the Xoom at 152ppi (if I remember right). Not that much different. The iPhone is over 300ppi.
