No, iPad dropped naming scheme because Apple had the iPad mini in development and they were going to release it in 2012. iPad and iPad mini makes sense, iPad 3 and iPad mini does not, iPad 4 and iPad mini 2 etc. You get the point. Currently there is only one type of iPhone, and Phones need a naming scheme for marketing purposes more so than iPad etc.

Maybe. This is another possibile conclusion for sure, but I continue to think they also want people think of iPad as synonym of new generation pc.

The 3rd Generation iPad which Apple calls "The new iPad" simply says "iPad" on the outside of the box. Why would they change and print "The new iPhone" for this upcoming model rather than follow iPad's lead and just print "iPhone"?

Wow, quite shocked that the rumors are so accurate. I mean, stock trading guys could actually make money based on the rumors.

What if some media member just held up that complete iphone 5 from that trade show? Talk about embaressing.
I think because they want so much volume ready to release in so many countries at the same time (within weeks), there is just too many in production and to expect 1.2 million employees (foxconn) + all the supplier employees to be quiet. Some defective parts are gonna get a quick photo taken. They are probably blurry cuz they are taking the picture while taking that 'defective' part to the recycle bin.
