Not at all, the technology is still very new. If it were only going to be around 2-3 years?...sure. But that's not the case.

iOS 6 will probably be released on Sept. 12 after the unveiling of the iPhone 5
 
Wow, now we know what it's going to be called, yet there's nearly 900 comments so far of people STILL arguing about the name! Good grief.

So I guess we will have to wait a few more weeks after the 12:th before the 5 arrives.

dont think so, we will get the GM build. ios 6 a few days later.
developers need time to push their updates to apple, and the cant do that till GM.
in past its usually a few days after the keynote
 
All the people who said this was going to be the iphone 6 are strangely silent in the early replys....

It appears that 5 does indeed precede 6
Who would have thought???

I just thought of something. Perhaps the reason they didn't release the invitations tomorrow, which would have been exactly a week before the press release, is because they wanted us to know the 5 was referring to the product and not the date tomorrow (September 5th). Doesn't really matter, just a random thought.

Either that or we shrugged our shoulders and moved on.

The official name of the device is probably the least important thing about it. Hell, they could call it iPhone 12 or iPhone 69 for that matter.
 
And after the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5S will come out.

It will be faster and have faster gfx processing. SAME body, SAME externals.
ios6 will get so bloated, you'll need the 5S to run it.

How are you guys still talking about the name? what is wrong with you people! Get a grip folks, the name of the phone doesn't matter! :rolleyes:
 
They are releasing the iPod Touch 5 and all the other iPod updates. The iPhone will have another event in October. I'm so wrong on this. Maybe.
 
Still don't think it will be the iPhone 5.

I just think there are 5 new products... All 3 iPods, iPad mini and the new iPhone.

2 cents, that's all.
 
The phone

Ahhh, the debate still goes on. So... Here's my 2 cents.....

Although it would be the 6th gen iPhone, the last release was 4S. If they released it now as a 6, people would want to know where version 5 was. It is a version number not a generation number.

So, the (allegedly named) iPhone 5 is the sixth generation iPhone.

I hope the next one will be iPhone 5.2 and not 5S.
