i guess i don't see how they could sell this cheaper than the new iPod Touch?

Would be nice....and we have to see...

But based on the price points, I could easily see getting a windows8 - tablet if the price if the 'iPad mini' is too high

Price will be important.

Mark my words: the iPad Mini will be Apple's flop of the century, if it's just launched as a smaller iPad (and not as a pure ebook reader, for instance).

Tim, you still have time to stop it; don't let this happen.

Also being launched next week: iPad Socks in 12 different colors.

Marked.

Haha totally disagree. It will be lower priced, great for families, great for holiday season, great for reading, it will not be a flop.

iPad lightning bolt upgrade, same size screen, no border you can drive a truck down, available in all the iPod colours...

oh and they finally announce there no longer manufacturing desktops, because this is a post pc world, laptops soon to follow unless the surface does well enough

well we dont know the internals yet. if it has the A6, 1gb ram and retina it wouldnt be a downgrade, the smaller size will be more portable for some

i doubt those specifications would be cost effective. it IS supposed to be a cheap tablet

Uh yea... Doesn't quite work that way.
Nor should it.

if you make the arguement that you have a 3rd gen. iPad... and you request a 3rd gen replacement, i dont see why not.

it should totally work that way... or they shouldnt be renewing the latest ipad thats just 6 months old

Nononoooo .. this is going to be huge (if priced agressively, which I believe they will).

Also the socks are long overdue for a color refresh .. about time.

Sweet! I have an ipad 3 but I can already tell that I would use the ipad mini a whole lot more. I take the DC metro to work and would never feel comfortable whipping the ipad 3 out on a crowded train. Hell, people would probably mistake it for a kindle.

Okay now my turn to show off for my deciphering talent.

The leaf of the Apple's logo is an eye. Eye = i
The top portion of the apple forms an 'M'. M = Mac

So... 'iMac' :D

It may seem like excess today, but in the future these devices will be everywhere and people will have more than one. You'll attach them to walls and have them perform certain functions, you'll leave them in the living room because they perform a function there, you'll have some in the kitchen, because they do good there, some in the bathroom, some in the bedroom, and you get the idea. Who thought we'd ever have more than one television in a house, and look at where we are now. Even on the USS Enterprise they had these things scattered about like magazines at a doctor's office. If you imagine a use for one of each and you can afford them, I say go for it and enjoy both of them! :)

Here here! :D

Now can you please explain this to my wife :p

Too much hype about too many things. We all know how many things didn't come true for the last few releases, so people think they're all going to come true at once?

I really doubt iPad Mini, updated iPads, Mac Mini, MacBook Pro Retina 13" and iMacs (Retina) will all be updated at the same time. I'd be excited to be wrong, but I doubt they'll do them all.

Why would they do all those at once, it doesn't even make sense from a news cycle standpoint. Things get lost in the news cycles.

I'm a HUGE Apple and iOS fan and read all these boards I just realized yesterday that the new iPod Touch was taller like the iPhone 5. hings get missed, I was just happy it got refreshed! T I will point out this is the first time that I didn't watch the full keynote too, but I still kept up.

Do the iPads. Then in a few weeks do the MacBooks with Retina display, iMacs and toss in the Mac Mini with that...

No, the most important thing will be the resolution of the screen. :p

For me, I want it to display PDFs very well, so that they are readable on a device of the Mini's purported size. Don't care about price, I'm looking for functionality. If I was only interested in price, there are some great 7" devices out there I'd be looking at instead (and I may be looking at them if the Mini's resolution isn't very good, because those lower priced devices are all higher resolution than an iPad 2).

Let's hope we both get our wishes, that you get a low cost device (which is still great) and I get a high-res device. :)

sounds like you want an ipad 3 lol

I've been working on the tagline:

We've got a little more to show you

OR!!!

Weave Gotye lit all moor tush owe ewe

which obviously means that Gotye will unveil his muslim heritage by mooning a sheep and lighting on fire a handwoven IOU... not sure what that means for possible iMacs though :(

And Safari will be snappier and Steve would never... oh forget it. I'm going to Moe's...

Not sure I follow your logic. Surface RT tablet is $499, 10.6". Same price as entry level iPad but with 2X storage. How do you get from "If 7" mini is too expensive I'll buy a 10.6" Surface." It seems to me either you want a 7" or you want a 10.x" and then go from there.

Look at the background... the way the colours are splashed around...

iMac's are going to be available in a variety of colours!

I know this was just a joke, but I think the background actually does mean something. If you go back, the iPad invitation was also paint splatters, so that's probably the reason for that.
