Why would an iPhone 4/5 owner want to downgrade to powder blue? Ever hear of a case?

Here's a crazy thought for you... what if... are you ready for it? Are you sitting down? Okay, here it comes.. what if the phone was not for existing iPhone users but for people who are buying their first smartphone or wanting to "upgrade" from a cheap Android they had before.

Stop being so closed minded, just because you don't like the colors try and appreciate there may be a big market of people who will love this phone.

I see plenty of white & graphite... oh wait, I thought this was my Ishihara color-vision test.

So each of the dots on the invite represent the new colors available?

I see white, and I see gold, but no graphite or slate....

Dual led flash.
Can't innovate anymore my ass.

AllThingsD can NOT confirm anything as they are not Apple.

It says nothing about AllThingsD "confirming" anything.

Why do people keep insisting that sources other then Apple can 100% confirm future Apple plans? I don't understand why people keep thinking like this.

It's pretty simple, there are a multitude of reasons. First, Apple routinely has events on or around September 10th. Secondly, Jim Dalrymple was part of the "confirming sources" who has almost a prefect track record of confirming this sort of thing. Third, when there's a rumor multiple unconnected sources all repeating the same exact information tend to increase the chances the rumor is in fact correct.

People wouldn't "keep thinking like this" if there were repeated rumors of Apple events that turned out to be totally incorrect, but for the most part these speculations turn out to be pretty spot on.

I hope I cleared some things up for you.

1. No phone has been announced, this is merely an invitation to a keynote on September 10th.

2. Apple has been releasing stuff like this for years. Note: iPod, Photo, Video, Shuffle, Nano, mini, Touch, Classic, etc. The list goes on. And guess what, they're all iPod's. And all sold VERY well.

3. How is a retina iPad mini any more earth shattering? Retina displays already exist, but what your saying is by putting it on an iPad mini - which most people expect to happen at this point - it would restore your faith in Apple as an innovative tech company?

:rolleyes:

1) Ok so then this entire thread is pointless if we are to assume no phone because not announced.

2) The Nano, touch and shuffle were very different from classic ipods. I dont see the analogy. The alleged low rent iPhone C creates a throw away who's only attribute is being powder blue or lime green?

3) Retina ipad mini improves upon an existing product line. I am sorry you cannot make the distinction between improvement and going backward. Changing colors on a stripped down phone is an effort to go after low end market share.

Certain people in the financial industry who follow the company have already opined that they see weak sell through of this line. Part of Apple's selling point is the event itself of having the highest end, latest, greatest product in the market.

This phone is a fail on so many levels. When did Apple get into making skittles? Why would an iPhone 4/5 owner want to downgrade to powder blue? Ever hear of a case? Does this open a new market for them? Sure, perhaps. But I also think it cannibalizes high end sales to a degree. Lower margin to grab market share. Happens when companies peak or reach a saturation point. I guess once you can't find something to improve upon you can change the color and call it a new product.

Still waiting for iWatch, iTV, and retina iPad mini.

And you know the details on what Apple's profit margin on the "C" phone will be eh?

Please share that information with us.

5C

C is the 3rd number of the alphabet, 3 + 5 = 8 + 10th september = 18

25 dots on the invite poster

25 - 18 = 7 = ios 7

i = 9th number
o = 15th
s = 19th

9 + 15 = 24

24 - 19 = 5

iOS is 3 letters so 3 in the alphabet is C which means

5C!

:eek:

I'm actually pretty impressed that you figured this all out. Nice work!

That option exists. It's called the iphone 4. As for color, you can buy a case.

Even though it is an iPhone fest, I'm really hoping for a cue to Mac Pro announcements, but relative chance of hearing anything about the Mac Pro is about 0.05%.

I will fix up the typos there.

The September 10 date was first rumored by AllThingsD last month, and was quickly also rumored by a number of other sources. Official invitations for the event were expected today given Apple's usual one-week lead time before such events.

AllThingsD can NOT confirm anything as they are not Apple. Why do people keep insisting that sources other then Apple can 100% confirm future Apple plans? I don't understand why people keep thinking like this.

Yeah, but there is the possibility of it being a controlled leak, right? So it was, in many people's minds, "confirmed" by AllThingsD

Here comes the flood of haters how predictable where this thread is going, listen up, Apple doesn't need to completely reinvent everything they do with every release including the iPhone their products are solid and they've been serving me in my daily needs well enough yeah yeah, you can bang on about how your Samsung does a million useless things more and it does it better, heard it all before, how iPhone 5 is old and the 5S will bring nothing new but just a hardware bump, on and on...

Stick with Samsung, whatever I myself am really excited for the event to see something good turn into something even better.

My day will be brightened once I'm able to ditch my temporary AT&T Android Z998 for my new iPhone 5S.

Although Android 4.3 seems to have a few more features and tweaks than iOS 7, it doesn't have the same user friendly fluidity and feel as the iOS 7 UI.

It's been well advertised that this "C" model is an attempt to gain market share over Android at low end. While I admit I do not yet know the gross margin, I would bet the ranch it is less than the company's current margin level. Which is ok, since they need to grow top line and most companies sacrifice margin to do it.

I still prefer cambookpro's design.
