While unlikely... I think its time for a new itunes Logo. The Musical Note has changed colour and even the note itself has changed over the years, but not lately... perhaps the branding now is stronger than ever and thats the reason they wont/dont change it... but they've changed the quicktime icon, and so why not the itunes logo? The CD has little to do with their business model these days (I've not bought one in years!) and while the iTunes name is also now kind of deceptive as the application does a whole lot more than just play tunes, its safe to say they won't change that any time soon... Anyway, just something I'd like to see for the 9th: A NEW ITUNES LOGO?!

Win!

I've just read all 16 pages... I think i'm going to go lay down now. That was too much of an insight into the stupidity of some users.

Have noticed a few predictions suggesting that the Touch refresh will leave off GPS which for me, personally, would be a disappointment.

Inclusion would square functionality with the iPhone so as to not leave the Touch feeling like an inferior product

That's the point. Quit being cheap and buy an iPhone.

All kidding aside, the iPhone makes more money for Apple. They want to get more people along that path than the iPod Touch path.

While unlikely... I think its time for a new itunes Logo. .... A NEW ITUNES LOGO?!

Might I suggest you take a look here

Like I said, some of the best innovations Apple did last decade weren't Jobs ideas, like iPod or clickwheel interface. iPhone was his baby yes, but can we say that for anything else? Mac would have existed without Jobs for sure, so would OS X.

iTunes music store was one of the biggest things though.

And I was serious about Next. They had to drop hardware business due to low sales and became software only company. I wouldn't call it a glamouring success.

god, give me a break already. os x wouldn't be osx without Steve Jobs. the freaken software is based on NEXT. and apple was surely headed for disaster before they brought Steve back. what the heck, I tried to be understanding of your opinion but I don't see the point. have a good time at macrumors, I'm done with this topic.

I just read your user name "iBug", are you kidding me? haha alright you got me. jokes on me. have a good one.

Beatles on iTunes, Rock Band

Thanks to the The Beatles Rock Band I've discovered The Beatles music. I would love to have Beatles on iTunes to go with The Beatles Rock Band on my 360 on 09.09.09.

I think you've nailed it. I think the day is the announcement of the entire Beatles catalog being made digitally: on iTunes, on Rock Band, on wherever else they want to make it.

Are you talking about 20 years back? What I meant is OS X can survive NOW without Jobs. Or are you assuming it'll be Jobs to find what next OS Apple will use?

Oh and NEXT is based on free bsd, so you'd "argue" that Apple would have headed for disaster if there was no free bsd?

Personally I am finding it difficult to get excited over an ipod touch with a camera. I hope apple comes up with a new product with features that are totally surprising and unexpected.

That would be cool.

Apple's $80 2-Way In-Ear Headphones Are Awesome & Bargain Priced

They just updated headphones last year, and I am overall happy with the In-Ear Headphones, although they seriously need a boost in the bass department and should be black.
All you need to do is go into the Music Settings and choose the Loudness EQ setting to get your bass and treble boost where they should be. I am thrilled with my Apple In-Ear Headphones. :)
I think Apple should quit the earphone business altogether and only sell their standard white earphones, not in-ear ones. Anyone who is remotely interested in HQ sound from iPod already buys a 3rd party in-ear-phone which sound much better than Apple's offerings at a lower price. Apple can't specialize at everything.
You must have not gotten the memo. Since last January Apple has been shipping $80 2-way in-ear headphones that beat out other brands costing twice as much. I have a pair of Ultimate Ear 2-way headphones that cost me $240 and they are not any better than Apple's $80 model. :)

What third party sells 2-way in-ear headphones better than Apple's for $40?

I'm pretty sure UE's are better than Apple's but they are not for you. There are several brands for in ear monitors and all of them sound totally different.

Even within the same brand models have quite different sound signature. You need to try them out to find what suits you the best.

So the reason you'd think Apple's sound better would be that their sonic signature suits you better, but I'm sure if you looked at all the models of Shure/UE/Westone/Etty you'd find one as good or better than Apple's offerings, and cost around the same. (Granted you won't find something which costs less than 80$ at hi-fi earphone market, but stuff which cost around 100$ should sound better than Apple)

But after all, better sounding earphone is subjective. If you are really happy with Apple's offering, then look no further. I myself listened to them and didn't like them at all, but I own 500$ish costing flagship earphones from several brands and they are heads and shoulders above Apple.

You can try Westone UM1 which sells for 100$.

My Predictions:

iTunes 9

We'll get Twitter and Facebook integration, as well as Blu-ray support. It'll be faster, and it'll be 64-bit. Possibly some updates to Genius playlists as well.

iPod Touch 3rd Generation

We'll get a 3.2 MP camera with video recording just like the iPhone 3GS, a mic, same faster processor and more ram like the 3GS, the oleophobic coating on the screen, and a GPS for geo-tagging and use with Maps.
We'll also get the updates brought with iTunes 9. Unfortunately no OLED screen.

Price and capacity:

I see three possibilities.

8GB - $199
16GB - $279
32GB - $349

or

16GB - $229
32GB - $299
64GB - $399

or

16GB - $199
32GB - $279
64GB - $349

I think the second option is the most likely. I really can't see them keeping the 8GB on the 3rd gen. They may keep the 2nd gen 8GB for $179, like they kept the iPhone 3G 8GB.

iPod Nano 5th Generation

Not much new here, except for the camera. Even though there have been reports of the 3.2 MP camera, I think we'll get a 2 MP camera like the iPhone 3G. No video capture here, I don't think.
We'll get the iTunes 9 updates like the iPod Touch 3rd Gen.

We'll also get a capacity bump for the same price.

16GB - $149
32GB - $199

iPod Classic 7th Generation

I'm still debating whether it'll get a camera or not. I'm guessing it will, but it'll be 2 MP like the Nano. Also iTunes 9 updates.

Capacity upgrade, but the same price.

160GB - $249

And Steve Jobs will be back to introduce all of this.

I'm guessing the "one more thing" will be the arrival of the Beatles on iTunes.

Westone Single Driver Headphones Cost More - Dual Driver $300

Granted you won't find something which costs less than 80$ at hi-fi earphone market, but stuff which cost around 100$ should sound better than Apple.

"Should Sound better"? Doubtful the will. Those are single driver and cost $110. Their UM2 dual driver headphones cost $300.

Hmmm. Might have to dive in for an iPod classic. This could be the last year they are around. It'd be nice to have something where I can happily tick sync all songs and playlists, rather than fussing around like I have to with my iPhone.

And the idea of the new logo sounds good!

The amount of drivers is not a concern. Single driver Etymotic ER-4S sounds better than 3 driver ShureSE530 for me. You should just listen to one and decide for yourself.

And the "should" is coming from all those brands being specialized at one thing and one thing only, earphones, while Apple is a computer company. When you want to buy a Hi-Fi you don't go and only try Apple Hifi (they discontinued that right?) but you check the real Hifi brands.

Have noticed a few predictions suggesting that the Touch refresh will leave off GPS which for me, personally, would be a disappointment.

Inclusion would square functionality with the iPhone so as to not leave the Touch feeling like an inferior product, plus the Nike iPod functionality would become greatly more usable than it has ever been on the Touch or the Nano.

It would similarly seem ill at ease with the general Apple push through iPhoto in particular towards geotagging. I carry about a Sony Cybershot as a day to day camera and manually geotag my images. For me, what I might lose in camera fidelity for day to day snapshots using the Touch one would be compensated by having in GPS a feature which is pretty rare in compact size cameras.

+1

I was so excited for iPhoto '09 but when I finally got it I found out that the Faces feature is quite buggy and can only recognize faces if all those pictures were taken on the same day. it sucks at finding faces in photos

No biggie I still have Places right?, no I need an iPhone or a camera with a GPS chip in it. when I went camera shopping we could not find a single Digital camera with GPS. I guess it's only in those bulky $500+ SLR cameras. Thanks Apple I paid $1,000 for your computer and to use one of the features I must pay an extra $500

a new logo might happen. there's no way they'd change the name tho

iTunes has been iTunes forever and I doubt they're going to kill off the name they've had forever. what about the old commercials that have iPod + iTunes?

I was going to get one but the screen in too small

Anyone noticed the date will be 999, itunes 9 is coming...
lucky 9, 9 for nine new things?

or 666 - the return of the Devil? Steve Jobs coming back to do the keynote?

could go on and on..

music is so overrated now... just click whatever you want on the web via your Apple device and poof it plays. What's the big deal... we want new revolutionary products, not candy dispenser cameras in old devices.

You do realize that ipods and iphones do just a bit more than play music right?
