I don't blame Apple for the price increases, but I think this will ultimately hurt their bottom line. The professionals are gonna do what they need to do, but so much of Apple's customer base are tech enthusiasts (like me) that upgrade at a regular cadence just to have shiny new stuff. This is going to cause of lot of us to rethink our spending habits.
Perhaps.

I get your point, but for conversation: The fact they didn’t raise iPhone prices now reflect that they are considering the general consumer. In that people will continue to update to get the shiny new features, while the general consumer is not buying a new computer every two years.

Anyone who buys any of these products at those stupid prices deserves to be taken advantage of, Apple is doing their usual pure greed BS.

they will not lower their margins and we have to suffer, let them lose users.

The "ecosystem" is overrated anyway.

Seems like we all are paying for AI whether we use it or not. Don't worry, in a couple years if it ever becomes useful they'll start charging subscriptions for it, too.

Uhhh, Claude and ChatGPT offer subscriptions of all varying prices. For coding and other professional uses the cost is already $200 a month subscription.

That's a bold move raising the price of a nearly 4-year-old Apple TV by 54.3%. Given that they make most of their money off of subscription services AFTER they sell you the Apple TV, and that will hopefully see a new model in the next few months, they should've eaten more of the price increase and just sell it for cost or a single percentage profit margin. Unless that's what they really did, but that would be crazy to see the cost increased by 50-54%. I was holding out for the new model, but my 1st gen 4K died a few months ago, that worked out that I bought this model when I did.

Tim is definitely taking the hit on his way out so the new guy doesn't have to and then immediately step in dog poo.
The opposite - there will be temporary sales boost because of pre-announce with a small delay. So in terms of sales this quarter will be fine, but the next one - oh boy.

Have you seen the prices for refurbished? Its pretty close to a brand new one.
Anything from apple website is a rip off today. However third party vendors haven't updated their prices.

Few people truly need an m5 device. M1-m4 are so overpowered that you can buy a 1-2 year old device with high ram and storage for much less.

The only exception is if you want to use the mac for vide editing professionally. That's when the latest soc can offer a meaningful advantage.

Wait until they found out the profit margin Apple made on every single device they ever bought from them. You've been getting screwed for a long time.
Thousands of products have much higher profit margins. Do you ever watch Shark Tank? Products are made for 49 cents and then sold for $19.95.

Apple is truly doomed. It’s so over for them. May they RIP in peace.
RIP is from requiescat in pace, latin for rest in peace. as for apple dissolving from this I suspect the chip fabricators may have a bumper ride if the AI ride turns downward (remember chip fabricators are a deep cyclical industry)

That, is Nvidia's and the others ultimate goal, they want to kill the PC market stone dead and for you literally to pay them a sub as you said to use a PC, and I bet that will spread to phones and tablets too. Apple will happily go along with it as long as they can make billions and so will many members on here who are Apple share holders. Jensen is so utterly deluded he thinks you will have a 10 grand supercomputer in every house, or outside your house on YOUR land will be a Ai server using YOUR electricity and internet buy you may NOT even use it.. He has literally said all this.

Thankfully many companies are fast realising, after laying staff off and moving over to Ai systems, they do not actually do anywhere NEAR what they were promised to, because it is one big fat lie, and are having to spend more money to undo the damage and try to build relations back up again lol. Serves them right. Ai is fake, sold on nothing more than hype and empty promises but companies are making billions off the lie!
Yep and this is what I was saying in my earlier post. AI has its uses, but it cannot replace people. So I blame the companies and shareholders more than I blame AI. As a developer, it’s a very nice tool, but it is nowhere near viable to even replace a human.

If anyone wants to do their part to fight these prices… just make a decision not to buy unless and until prices come down. Oh… but you want your new toy now? Fine. Then don’t complain. The same goes for cars or anything else.
