Selling Macs with less RAM is the plan.Apple is not going to sell many at that price.

Why stop at less? Why don't we take out RAM entirely, Humans function without gallbladders, appendixes, etc ... maybe we can make MacBooks that function without RAM? /sSelling Macs with less RAM is the plan.
I love my Vision pro but damn, $5000cad was already insane enough, now it's $5300 cad.Vision Pro got a bump to 3699 from 3499 as well.

Correct. Apple isn't going to give away profits. No business would. This isn’t a money grab. Apple held out longer than most companies. You want to place blame, blame AI.
Lol. That one had me laughing. Raising prices on a basically discontinued product that absolutely no one wants to buy anyway. Hilarious.Vision Pro got a bump to 3699 from 3499 as well.
Remember when people here were saying "Don't buy a Neo now because a newer one will be coming out soon." haha
I don't think going for pure quantity has ever been Apple's plan. Instead, Apple typically seeks to maximise profits, so it is possible to raise prices (to cover higher costs), project to sell a little less, and still end up making more money overall if they believe that demand for their product is more on the inelastic side.Apple is not going to sell many at that price.
If I were The Ternusator, I would double prices - then you only have to sell half as many!I don't think going for pure quantity has ever been Apple's plan. If you sell a lot less than the price increase covers, you lose money. This gigantic price hike is going to sink their unit sales below the profit curve I'm sure. Apple stocks plummeted today.

Inventory. Just about everything is build to order (ever wonder why some models take so long to ship? Because they are putting them on ... ships. Some carbon-zero nonsense (as if ships aren't insane carbon emitters).False. This is not about giving away profits, which Apple already made on their M4 models. It's about greed, and hedging their bets on the M5 line up. There was no reason to retroactively hike prices on the M4 models.

That was yesterday - it bounced back over 3% at +8.63 USD today. I'm watching because I want to pick up 5 shares in a week (or so - this is BS speculation but there's a lot of chatter on Ai and other partnerships atm - but I'm not a licensed broker and don't take advice from me. I'm just dipping my toe back into AAPL).If you sell a lot less than the price increase covers, you lose money. Apple can absorb the RAM and NAND price increase, but they are more concerned with appeasing their shareholders. Also they have seen others like Sony, Microsoft etc raise prices so jumped on the bandwagon. It's 100% a monty grab. Their ram price tripled... from like £12 to £36. so yah that's really translating to the £200 across the board increases. If it wasn't a money grab it would be a price increase to the increase component cost, not an increase to profit margin, which this is.. because 60-400% or whatever wasn't enough.
Apple has screwed their customers over and made some think they've been doing us a favour. What a joke.
I tried local models yesterdays. Did so on the 14 inch M1 Pro 32GB 1TB i panick bought one hour after price hikes where announced. Now I can run a 15GB laege model with ease including on trains or planes where WiFi might be unreliable.Maybe Mac Studio M7 with >512 GB RAM if local AI models will be useful to me.
