Are you sure that list is right?

Wasn't iTunes 5 out for only like a month and then replaced with iTunes 6?

a birdy told me...

September 8 - ipod/music event led by the one and only Phil Schiller

October 13 - Macbook Event - introducing the new "tablet" device that will sit within the macbook lineup similar to how the macbook air is a subset of the macbook line-up. This event will be led by the one and only Steve Jobs.

That's certainly plausible. The tablet is starting to sound less like something that would fit into the iPod/iPhone lineup.

I still have my doubts about exactly what market the tablet will serve, but that's a rant for another thread.

Are we all betting the Classic is dead? Will Apple come out with something to better compete against the Zune HD?

When have the new updated iPods typically been available after the media event? Immediately, or more like a week later?

I almost forgot how quickly iTunes jumps version numbers.

yeah, I don't think I ever realized it was every September like clockwork. Goes to show you how different I think each new version is. 😉

Also, I doubt the tablet will be discussed at this event unless it's really just a media accessory - which would be a big disappointment.

can't see the new ipod touch if there is one being available until after 18th September. mainly because thats when the back to school promotion finishes. 🙂🙂

Apple has released prior to the end of the promotion before. They simply exclude them from the promo, obviously. It isn't that difficult.

Apple better be taking notes....Zune HD is looking mighty good, and I know A LOT of people who are planning on getting one. I'm a Apple guy all the way, but the iPod interface is starting looking a bit dated in comparison.

- 2008: Apple held a "Let's Rock" event to introduce iTunes 8 and new iPod touch, nano, and shuffle models.

- 2007: Apple held a "The Beat Goes On" event introducing the original iPod touch alongside updates to the remainder of the iPod line, an iTunes 7 update, and iPhone price drops.

- 2006: Apple offered the "It's Showtime" event introducing iTunes 6 and iPod updates, as well as a sneak peak at the "iTV" that launched several months later at the Apple TV.

- 2005: Apple's "Here We Go Again" event introduced the Motorola ROKR mobile phone with iTunes support alongside the release of iTunes 5 and saw the introduction of the original iPod nano to replace the iPod mini.

It's fun to see the list. It's clear that the event titles don't give much of a clue about the announcements to come.
