Didn't Apple and Palm patten the he11 out of Multi-touch

I don't see how Palm had it after Apple, how does Microsoft have it now?

Will the iPod classic be discontinued?

Signs point to "yes."

It may stick around with the same specs and get a price drop to $199 - at least until the iPod Touch gets a capacity bump to over 100GB. And I don't forsee that happening until next year.

But there have been reports that no one has purchased any ipod-sized high capacity hard drives lately.

8 years is a pretty good run for an Apple product.

The screen isn't HD, it just has the ability to output HD video on a TV

Can the current iPod Classic or iPod touch do that?

Apple better be taking notes....Zune HD is looking mighty good, and I know A LOT of people who are planning on getting one. I'm a Apple guy all the way, but the iPod interface is starting looking a bit dated in comparison.

They still sell those Zune things?

no where

He works for Fusion-io, a data storage and server company, in Salt Lake City, Utah as their chief scientist

but he also remains on apple's payroll so he does some PR things for apple here or there (nothing major)

he is also doing speaking engagements

He also wrote a rather engaging autobiography.

Its a solution in search of a problem.
Never met anyone who wanted to use their portable as input to their home system. Myriads of waay better ways to do that.

Tell that to the people who buy it and return it based on misleading naming.
But seriously... by all means run out an buy one. Have fun squirting content to.... oh yeah.. no one to use that useful feature with either.
And then discuss its virtues on the 'ZuneRumors' site with the other 5 people.

Beatles

09/09/09 - the new beatles box set with digitally remastered copies of all of their albums comes out, so a tie-in with this event is not out of the question. :)

Apple is too small a company to introduce more that one product at a time.

the Apple TV and the iPhone

the iPod touch and nano and classic

the new unibody MacBooks

the new updated desktop line last March

they can and have release more than one product at a time

but I agree that iPod touch, iPod nano, new iMac, tablet, snow leopard all out launch in one event would just be too much. it's an iPod event and shall probably just have the new touch and nano

Oh, I won't be buying the Zune HD. I will be almost certainly be getting the iPod Touch 3rd Gen, because of the App Store. Unless the Zune HD has a crazy App Store or the ability to connect to Xbox Live I won't be touching it. I was just trying to defend it because it is shaping up to be a great PMP that some will really love to own.

"Peace out" as they say. :)
Microsoft's 'me-too'-ism is just too much fun to mock at times. Hard to resist.

now thats funny:):)

Didn't they just release updated Macbooks, a new iphone and 3.0 amazing what a small company like AAPL can do. lmao

As for size, Apple's market cap is ~150 billion, and MSFT's is only 50 billion more. Some are postulating a switch in position within a year.
Hardly 'tiny'.

As long as they create great products, I don't care if they took inspiration from another company because it is only better for me as a consumer.

iTunes 9 on 9/9/2009 makes perfect sense.

same thing I was thinking. Apple always does Keynotes on Tuesdays tho (except WWDC) so I'm still going for September 8th

and I don't think Apple will acknowledge 9/09/09 since the 3.0 event was on St. Patrick's day and no one acknowledged it or said anything about it. well except for one of the developers onstage but the other devs didn't say anything about it nor did Greg or Scott

This is the next transition of the Mac OS X platform... ARM
ARM will power this tablet
This tablet will test the ARM with this hybrid OS X system
Get ready for it! I am.

my bet is it will be held the day after the back to school offer runs out because they won't want to be giving any new iPod Touches away for free
