Beatles Remasters released
Beatles Rock Band released
iTunes 9 released
Beatles on iTunes

Number Nine Number Nine Number 9.

;)

Your suggestion is not as crazy as you think. And the timing is nothing short of impeccable, what with special Beatles-themed versions of the new iPods, too.

This is awesome, I would imagine a new iPod touch since the new iPhone came out. I doubt there will be a new classic iPod, possibly but probably not a capacity boost for the nano, and no mention of a tablet.

after reading all related articles, I just made a conclusion.

1. new third generation ipod touch (the same size, the same battery life or little improvement, not OLED screen yet, camera feature (recording video just like iphone 3Gs, 8GB will be obsolete, new 64GB will be added. price; 16GB $199, 32GB $299, 64GB $399.)

2. new ipod nano (camera on the back, the same size, the same battery life, new 32GB. now it will be 16GB $149, 32GB $199 the same price)

3. possible update iTunes with cocktail features (but we won't see some kind of rumors which social networking combination on iTunes and last fm yet ---> actually iTunes already has internet radio since it has been first time). I am not even sure it will be coming true. why do we need that?

4. iTablet thing? NO. we won't see it until someday 2010. it's not ready, too early.

5. possible voice recognition will be integrated with new ipod touch, and ipod nano. I think that it is really neat feature.

6. ipod classic will be remain without upgrade (but it will be obsolete someday because Apple seems to make all ipods, iphone with flash memory which is better for anything)

7. one more thing? I don't know.

finally, it is interesting that Zune HD will be released September 15th officially. 16GB $220, 32GB $289.99, OLED screen, NVIDIA terga graphic chip, 33 hours music listening, 8.5 hours video playing, HD radio, wifi (b/g). just like previously what MS did, the price will be easily down anytime soon.

I can't remember exactly from last year, but how long before the keynote was the event announced and how long after the keynote were the new iPods available? Thanks.

Insanely Obvious

Scheduling a keynote event the same week the remastered Beatles catalog ships has got to be one of the biggest tells of all time. Taken with all the other Beatles announcements this year, its too obvious to ignore. The Beatles on iTunes will be the big announcement of the day. Followed by the perfunctory iPod/ iTunes upgrades. The Classic will continue too live, much like the Mini. That is until the HD's cease to be manufactured for insufficient market.
I'll actually be disappointed if they don't also release an insanely priced limited edition Beatles iPod with the complete contents of the stereo box set preloaded. Requisite engraved signatures on the back, of course.
And if any of The Beatles show up in person, no way on earth Steve won't either.

can't see the new ipod touch if there is one being available until after 18th September. mainly because thats when the back to school promotion finishes. :):)

and? if they do, they just won't include the new ones. Simple as that.

Apple better be taking notes....Zune HD is looking mighty good, and I know A LOT of people who are planning on getting one. I'm a Apple guy all the way, but the iPod interface is starting looking a bit dated in comparison.

Even though the classic and nano both got tweaks to their UI last year (or was it 2007) its still dated. How about add some shots of snow leopard UI in there? Blacks and dark blues

who even has FM radio on media players. let alone who uses it?

OLED is nice, the 3.3 inch display has no multi-touch tho

a lot. Also its HD radio with tagging (tag a song and you can purchase it)

Radio is good if your on the bus to work and want to listen to the news.

any clue what the next iPod touch will be called?

iPod touch 3G, iPod touch S, iPod touch V3 or 3V

iPod Touch. simple.

doomed? Seriously?

I'm as excited as anyone about the new iPod Touch models coming out....but I'm thinking that the Zune HD has so little influence that it's hardly worth mentioning. They could release the new Touches the day before Christmas and they'd still sell more than the <name-your-next-iPod-killer> or Zune HD.

I'm buying a touch. this is going to be my 3rd one. The 1st one's screen cracked a week before the 2ed gen launched.I now own the 2ed gen, and i'll be upgrading to the 3rd. Not intrested in the classic anymore, nor the nano.

I'd buy a large captaincy touch if there were ever one. i want my whole library with me at all times. I know some rather chose and pick their songs/videos, and that's fine, but I'm the type that doesn't what to think how i fell later on in the day.

iPod touch

Period.

That made me laugh. I don't get why kids think things like that. Same ones who call it the iTouch, and want an iphone nano

Yes the new Zune is multi-touch. Saw a video of it. I think people are under-estimating how well this thing does. I hope I'm wrong, but there is A LOT of positive buzz about it.

OLED, HD radio, even the stainless steal back is a few reasons why its receiving positive buzz.

Come on apple, the chrome backing, is getting real old..

This is HD radio. Comparable to satellite/subscription radio. So it's not just your standard old FM receiver.

My Sony iPod dock has HD radio. I love it.

no where

He works for Fusion-io, a data storage and server company, in Salt Lake City, Utah as their chief scientist

but he also remains on apple's payroll so he does some PR things for apple here or there (nothing major)

he is also doing speaking engagements

don't forget dancing!

Does anyone know if they are going to update the ipod touch to 64gb?

they might. If memory was cheep enough they could even bump it to 100Gb or more.

Take a look at past iPod/iTunes events and see how many computers they introduced.

Starting now won't hurt

my bet is it will be held the day after the back to school offer runs out because they won't want to be giving any new iPod Touches away for free

sigh...

they dont have to give the new ones out. they would be excluded. Simple as that my friend.

Few of my ideas for the touch:

  1. unibody design. I'm surprised no one said that yet. The back will feature the wi-fi attena, a black shinny logo (Don't worry, it won't light up) along with "iPod" in black. It may or may not ship in colors. (I'd be buying the black and sliver one if it does :D)
  2. 64GB storage added
  3. OLED Screen (if not, then an LED screen)
  4. Perhaps a larger screen (4.1" 16:9 screen)
  5. Camera
  6. iPhone 3G S like specs, minus the phone part
  7. Cable is no longer white, but rather black.
  8. The ****** stock headphones now come in black
  9. 16GB $199 32GB $299 64GB $399
Ideas for the nano:

  1. 32GB storage added
  2. Larger screen. Bumped to 3"
  3. no camera
  4. Same colors as the 2008 update
  5. If in fact there is a larger screen, expect a new design. (Can't see a long tall screen with a small click whell, expect the same hight and width as the touch)
  6. New UI. More snow leopard like.(darker colors)
  7. 8Gb dropped, 16GB $199 32GB $299 64GB $399
ideas for classic:

  1. No major changes.
ideas for the shuffle

  1. nothing. Its still a new product.
Ideas for iTunes

  1. Bulit from the ground up
  2. Faster performance on the Windows verson.
  3. 64GB support
  4. itunes store gets a new look almost like this:
  5. Social networking feature is false.
  6. Blu-ray support will come at a later date
  7. new program icon

Apple better be taking notes....Zune HD is looking mighty good, and I know A LOT of people who are planning on getting one.

I hear this every time Microsoft announces a new Zune, yet it never happens. I've never seen a Zune in the wild. No lie. Just in dusty display cases at stores.

I'm not sure what all the buzz is about this time. OLED? Sure, nice, but a major selling point for the typical consumer? No. HD radio? Give me a break. We all bought iPods to get away from crappy radio. I don't give a flying fig if they've upped the audio quality - the programming still sucks.

Microsoft has worked its user base into a frenzy over the Zune with its traditional astroturfing spectacular (remember all those Zune fan sites that magically appeared before the first Zune was even launched?), but the sales don't tend to follow. You read the Engadget commentary and it appears MS will sell 10 million of the things at launch. But it's all just smoke.

You tell me what the average customer would choose in their music player: an OLED screen, Tegra processor and HD radio, or a camera they can use to shoot photos and videos of friends and upload them directly to Facebook or YouTube? (If the camera rumor pans out, of course.) Microsoft has never understood the customer or what the customer wants, and they're always two steps behind in this particular race. They pre-announce a new Zune months in advance, seed the astroturf like crazy, and then Apple drops a bomb on them at the 11th hour.

The PMP war is over.

why would they price the nano and touch the same for the same base model?

16GB: $229. 32GB: $300 64GB: $400

double the memory, drop the base model, and keep the same price

they did that for the iPhone and the Time capsule and now it shall adhere to the touch and the nano

I'm hoping they release a revised iPod shuffle with buttons (that resemble the side volume controls of an iPod touch, small yet pressable) I know it sounds like something Apple totally wouldn't do but a man can dream

I don't know if this has been mentioned, or when it changed, but the Back-To-School promotion now ends September 8th!!

I'd say that guarantees 9/8 or 9/9 for the event.

As said above kid, it does not matter if the new ipods come out before the promo ends. They will not be included in the promo.

SIMPLE AS THAT

You never know for sure what apple will announce on a keynote.
I am hoping for a small macBook Pro update as I'm planning on buying new macbook, so maybe it's worth waiting till after 7-9th of September.

maybe BluRay option? cause of the expected BluRay support in iTunes 9

i really hope there is a price drop to the imac line announced at the keynote.

WWDC was the summer keynote, announcing price drops for the macbook pro's

so now this keynote is the Fall version, and since rumors state they are planning on dropping the price of the imacs in the fall, it should happen here.
