Did you really think that Apple would just stop supporting the iPhone 12 with software updates so quickly?

Another reason for the 12 to be discontinued entirely, is the parts shortage.
There’s probably enough similar parts between the 12 and 13 that would benefit Apple by having just one model.

Made sense as well. A lot of the tooling would be the same between the 12 and 13 as well, so to save money/capacity, might as well put them all for the 13.

Of course not, it was sarcasm. I expect Apple to support for 5 years but its slippery slope starting to name stuff with such branding we all know what happens then.
