Well, I guess I was right. Apple ditched the program. Then when the heat was on, they had to rush to try and put it back, and they will be getting rid of some stock of cheap headphones. Thanks Apple! With every move like this, I lose faith in my once favorite company. Record profit...... here's some cheap plastic headphones as our gift. No thanks.
Wow you're losing faith because they are giving something free away with a Mac purchase that you don't approve of?

The sense of entitlement in this thread is stunning. Students already get a discount year-round. This is FREE headphones (not a rebate, just free) on top of the discounted Mac. So even if these headphones were total crap (which reviews say they aren't), how is this the disaster people are making it out to be?

Students don't need overpriced luxuries, they need money to save for things that count.

just here? i know they're currently en-vouge but almost everyone i know either just hate them, have one just because it's cool (it's more an accessoire thing), didn't know better or don't like music not dominated by bass (because thats just not cool :)). but yeah maybe i'm too old, i just finished college...
So you decided to pic a small portion of my post in order to make your point? That small portion of my post was connected to a point I was making that some people here suddenly love the iTunes gift card that they were complaining about last season, only because they hate Beats headphones. I don't like them either. I have a nice pair of Bowers and Wilkins P5's and P7's, but I can recognize when something makes sense and Apple including a pair of Beats with a Back to School Mac promotion does make sense. I'll bet 99% of the kids getting new Mac will be ecstatic about getting them.

And obviously you don't know many people (in terms of who hates them) because those headphones wouldn't be successful today if so many people hated them. Whatever the reason they like them or want them, the sales haven't declined and that says a lot. Remember, the promo is to entice people to buy Macs for Back to School. Including a pair of Beats Solo's will do that.

Hi everyone,

To everyone who bought a Mac in the past little bit before this promo kicked in today, call in and they will add the headphones to your order no problem, at least the girl who I talked to did but YMMV. I asked her "Do I have to return the Mac and reorder or is it possible to add it?" and she got it added.

Cheers.

It would still be a better device for free, which is my point.
I seriously don't think so. I would love to see the reaction of people here if Apple included their aging iPod with a new Mac sale, especially when the value of them has gone down due to near everyone having a smartphone. So trying to sell an iPod is basically a waste of time. Giving something for free that is very popular in the eyes of kids and college students makes much more sense.
I just love the attitudes here suggesting, "If it's not for ME, it's a bad deal".

touché. 1) yeah i did that ;-) and yeah it's a gift... 2) how did you come to that conclusion? i specifically know people who'll only buy beats - it's just that they only like what i would call bass dominated music.

btw: they aren't actually crap, it's just they're not "high fidelity". it's basically earphones with a built-in equalizer stuck on a cranked up bass. very 60-ties. if you ask me...

Worst Apple promotion ever.
Exactly, because before this promo the iTunes gift card was the "Worse Apple promotion ever". And before that the iPod Touch was the "Worse Apple promotion ever" because it was only 8GB and before that promo they were offering a 250GB iPod Classic. And when the iPod Classic was a promo it too was the "Worse Apple promotion ever" because before that Apple used to offer a $100 towards anything in the online store. Try again sir.

There are no choices. App Store or iTunes gift cards are something everyone can use AND you have choices about what you get. This is the equivalent of a Back to School promotion where you get Taylor Swift's new album and for $10 you get Nikki Minaj's new album. Everyone in my house has access to really nice headphones already. This is a waste, unless they're trying to unload warehouse's of non-selling product. I think this Beats acquisition has been a negative for Apple.

Oh Well. This is the problem with Today's People. So much entitlement. "How Dare You Give me something free I don't like". Just remember sir, Apple doesn't really have to or need to do a Back to School promo. They have too much money and they are on the top of the food chain in in terms of most valuable companies.
