Some questions about the promotion….

1. From past experience, are the Back to School promos ever expanded to apply to new models coming in the Fall?

The promotion ends September 26, so that’s not happening, right?!

2. How do we *know* that the promotion applies to the upcoming M2 MBA?

One can't add that model to one's bag on the Apple site to check!
Although Apple specifies certain models, they never explicitly state that M2s are included!
Product CategoryEligible ProductsPromotion Product
iPadiPad Air (5th generation)
iPad Pro 11”, 12.9”
$100 Apple Gift Card
MacMacBook Air
MacBook Pro 13”, 14”, 16”
iMac 24”
$150 Apple Gift Card

3. Does “while supplies last” ever come into effect?

“This offer is valid only during the Promotion Period, while supplies last. Eligible Products and Promotion Products are subject to availability.”
4. Do I read this right? Qualified Purchasers can get *two* gift cards — one from a Mac purchase and another from an iPad purchase (provided they are on the above list)?!

“For eligible Mac purchases, only one (1) Promotion Product per Qualified Purchaser may be obtained during this promotion.
For eligible iPad purchases, only one (1) Promotion Product per Qualified Purchaser may be obtained during this promotion.”
If true, and one is shopping for a new Mac and iPad, that's a pretty sweet deal!

2. It should. MBA2 is right around the corner and I give this promotion at least 2 months (total guess btw)
4.) It sounds that way, yes.

Can I load the gift card onto my Apple card somehow to apply towards my monthly balance?

If my kid had to choose between a MacBook and an iPad I would recommend the MacBook.

https://www.apple.com/us-edu/shop/back-to-school this page shows the following:

MacBook Air

Portable. Powerful. All-day battery life for college life. Get MacBook Air with the M1 Chip, or the completely redesigned MacBook Air with M2 Chip.

MacBook Air with M2 chip available next month.

Easy, by looking at the photo and seeing an M2 MBA in it.

Also only Apple designs the new 14" & 16" MBPs screens incredibly fragile, so they crack even without any external pressure. Thanks Apple! The first Mac I was forced to get Apple Care for.

M2 air included since it’s already announced. I don’t think it’ll include any yet to be announced ipads/macs according to what happened in previous years

They also used to give rebates for free printers with the purchase of a mac, but I think that was available to everyone, not back to school customers.
what's a printer? seriously, we have a nice HP printer and it is rarely used. Even when my daughters were in college, everything was usually submitted electronically.

a104, thanks for that! I didn’t pay much attention to the glitzy advert, but went over Apple's webpage that had the legalese and details of the promotion! (See my earlier post.)

Along the same line… NotNick had a good reply to my question:

”How do we know the promotion applies to the M2?”

Easy, by looking at the photo and seeing an M2 MBA in it.

LOL! 😎

Yeah, missed that completely. I routinely ignore brightly colored, slick promo photos!

I think this is great. I mean, can't you use the $150 towards Apple Care within a couple weeks of the transaction? Seems like a great way to get most of that coverage then with the free GC.

I am not sure you can do that, I have been trying to purchase a MBP-16 since this morning with hopes of applying the $150 gift card right away but it’s not working.

The curious thing is that it says “-$150 promotional” in the bag, but you are charged the whole amount in the payment screen. 🙄😡

Really disappointed that Mac mini isn’t included in this… what gives??
In the past, it seems only the "portable" devices aimed at students/educators are eligible.

We should be happy the M2 Air is included. In the past, they've excluded certain new-ish Macs and iPads.

Not enough margin.

Same reason $329 iPad not included. That’s the epitome of a student portable device.

This is only true if you are doing monthly payments for AC. If you pay in full you can use the gift card immediately after you the purchase the machine. Monthly is a recurring charge and needs a billable source, which would not work a gift card.
No, I did pay in full and still couldn't use my balance.
You can only use the balance if you buy it with the product at the time of the original order from experience.

So could I drag my neice into a Apple Store and buy her (and by her I mean me) a MacBook Air and get the education discount and the gift card?

Completely forgot about the Air. Just might, since it has the M1 Chip.
I have an Air and long for a Mini. I regret buying an Air and not holding out for a new Mini... This is obviously very subjective but the Mini suits my needs better. I use my Air about half as much as I used to use my Mini 4. YMMV
