Yeah. Noticed an evident reduction in the effectiveness o NC and the left pod makes some kind of radio noise when put on the year. They sound now like or worst than a 30 bucks earphones.

I am a very busy person and not having to spend time dealing with problems in very expensive tech gear was one of the reasons I moved to Apple from other ecosystems. But it seams that this is becoming less and less the case.

I was just communicating by chat support, and the person who was chatting with me wasn't aware about this programme. If I wasn't aware about this programme, I was definitely charged lol

Is this replacement valid for air pod pros out of warranty mine were bought October 29th 2019 so just outside the warranty period as no Apple Care

I think that's the idea. This program launched just as early adopters' warranty coverage expired — hopefully it will cover those who need it for another year.

I was told by the live chat that airpods replacement cannot be posted and I have to physically visit stores or Ads in order to use this aipods programme. it's crazy especially when a lot of people do not feel comfortable taking public transportation and visit the stores

I am not so sure that they have a solution and have fixed the issue. I think Apple are just going to ride it through and replace faulty units until they release the second generation which are rumoured to come out next year.

I reserved a time slot and went to the Apple Store today and got both of my AirPods Pro replaced under the program. I'm literally one day out of warranty. Lol. They were generous enough to replace both of them for me despite having only one having the issue.

Dang, was hoping it’d be for all the other issues multiple pairs in our house have.

Namely;

-loses settings (I have left for Siri, right for anc on/off, transparency disabled) when not used for a day or so.

-Multipoint connection flakey, sometimes works between iPhone/iPad, sometimes doesn’t.

-Every couple of weeks need to pair/unpair.

They get worse over time, and with updates.

Ironically, when they’re actually connected the sound is fine, ANC is fine, the connection is stable. Never had static.

When the batteries on these are spent, I’m going back to wired wireless, and my XM4’s when conditions allow.

I like a lot of Apple stuff, but the experience is poor with certain products. I love my HomePods, but I hate how inconsistent they are.

“Hey Siri, volume down”

“One moment”

Long pause.

“Done”

Doesn’t happen all the time, it usually works without pause or feedback, but the above should never happen full stop.

I’ve had intermittent crackling on my left AirPod pro for a few weeks. I will have to get them replaced as it’s a fault. Sooner rather than later as we might be going into lockdown soon and the Apple store might get closed.

I’ve had a crackle in mine for months. Just assumed it was the way the ANC worked, it’s noticeable when walking. Spoke to apple and a replacement is on the way. Interestingly they said the program was for persons who have no warranty and mine would be covered under AppleCare.

Glad I just payed apple $90+ dollars to replace one of mine that had this exact issue smh
You messed up and didn’t do your research then. Your AirPods are still under the one year warranty. Had both of mine replaced for free last week (no AppleCare).

This is absolutely correct. APP 2nd Gen redesign is the fix. Gen 1 were a faulty design. I'd be a very unhappy camper if Apple didn't make replacing a faulty Gen 1 unit with a Gen 2 an easy process, or at least issue a partial credit.

Apple's QC and rushing this product needs to be addressed. Perhaps this will lead to an organized effort to gain some type of relief from all the bologna with Gen 1.

Don't drink the Kool Aid on this one.

That is just lucky, most times they will NOT do that. They only replace the faulty one.
My partner and I had both of ours replaced too. I said we didn’t want to encounter crackling in the old pair down the line, so they sent us two new pairs when only one was faulty.

Is "servicing" an AirPod a euphemism for Apple chucking it in the bin?

Well I’ve been on Apple Chat for 25 minutes and got as far as giving my serial number and repeating that I have AirPods Pro. I think I will just have to make a Genius Bar appointment as this is very inefficient

There's no mail-in option for this? Seems ludicrous considering much of the world is now in, or going back into, lockdown.

It annoys me that they only replace one. You end up with one dying way earlier with age. I have had this with my 1st gen. They only replaced the left one and then I ended up with the right (old) one running out of juice like 30% earlier.

also why can’t we just send them in? Our Apple store in Berlin has no appointments open all week

I've been having some connectivity issues when using them on iPhone X. sound randomly drops off and is a pain to reconnect

I’m sure bot has taken over Apple chat today. Despite explaining the isssue is with crackling in the lef AirPod pro. I’m being asked what device am I pairing the airpods to and do I have trouble pairing them to devices.

Will Apple replace faulty ones with AirPods Pro manufactured after October 2020?!?! 😳😭😭
Or will it be an ongoing event for unlucky people receiving earlier builts🤔😣

Funny that this just happened as I just had my right AirPod Pro replaced yesterday. My left Airpod has worked flawlessly since the beginning. It was the right that always gave me problems. So far the replacement has worked just fine. Hopefully it will stay that way.

It's not an Apple product if it doesn't have a repair program.
More than fair.

TBH pretty much every darn tech company out there has a rainbow of quality issues. Most simply deny; and if you're lucky they quietly replace the product and hope not enough momentum gathers for a class-action.

So do all AirPods face this issue eventually, or is it only for certain AirPods? Is it worth sending mine in for repair even though I haven’t encountered the issue?
