Am not sure if that is a positive or negative comment.
According to me Apple does care for their customers more than 99% percent of the companies out there.
Yep, I wish Bose would. I was SHOCKED! SHOCKED! on how bad Bose is. I felt so 100% sure they were top notch customer service but they are NOT. To many complaints out there and they hardly ever do recalls or replacement programs. I'm one of those that had the Bose earphones Soundsport Free issue and I still have a bad pair in my drawer waiting for a recall as they are out of the 12 month warranty.

Seeing as today is October 30, 2020, my question is how could any be in existence that were manufactured after October 31, 2020? Or is it a reverse entropy situation like in that Tenet movie?

The point, which you missed obviously, is that Apple has essentially acknowledged that every one made up until very recently has been faulty. This is a big deal for headphones that cost as much as Air Pods Pro. Good for Apple for acknowledging the problem though. Better late than never. But seeing as I got mine replaced a couple months ago with zero argument I figure they knew it was an issue long ago.
I had this issue also. I only had the issue in the right bud. Apple took care of it with a mail in return claim. They sent me a new one and haven’t had problems since.

I bought my AirPods Pro 6 months ago. Have used them everyday for calls, audiobooks and music. And so far I’ve not had any crackling issue. So definitely not all units are affected. I knew about the reports before I bought them, but I hoped it was not a problem with every unit. Thankfully seems I got lucky (at least so far no issues).

Now the whole reason I bought these was bad Powerbeats pro’s. Those things have a definite design problem. They never get seated properly and half the time you open the case, they are dead. I called Apple and shipped them back. But Apple returned them saying there is no issue. Long threads on forums complaining about the same problem. Guess, their quality control has been slipping. I gave up and bought the AirPod pros. So far I’ve been impressed. Just hope mine don’t develop the crackling problem now.

I literally created a thread on this just 2 days ago!

2 replacments so far with the same exact problem of crackling sounds on movement or even opening my jaw, since we dont have here an apple store it has to be shipped abraod and wait 1 month for a replacment. Currently waiting to get my replacement back soon, been 3 weeks now without APP

lol - my air pods pro had this issue.

Do they realize how inconvenient it is for people to go to the store? They should have end users destroy their air pod pros - send a photo - and apple send new ones.

When I chatted with Apple via the website they offered to send a new one (left AirPod Pro) in the mail.

Don’t they offer this everywhere?

I'm on my third set of AirPods Pro. This exact thing happened to the previous two pairs. I've had this pair for a couple of months, so I expect they'll also become affected at some point.

Props to Apple for replacing the previous sets, both times, without complaint or issue. It's nice to know they've identified the issue so the next time I have to replace them, I'll get a pair that'll go the distance.

Hey Apple how about fixing the last firmware you automatically downloaded to all 1st gen AirPods? It was faulty there are numerous threads and videos of people saying the left or the right bud loses connection for no reason. Mine have this issue and while they still charge and hold a charge there useless when they lose Bluetooth connection. Maybe that was Apples intention to send out a faulty firmware so you would buy the AirPods Pro.

Forced to resort back to my wired buds, they just work, 🤔

I had this happen in July/August and when I spoke with Apple about it, the representative made it sound as though I was not the only one having the issue.
This is not just ANC, If you are using transparency mode it happens too. its almost as if the external mic becomes loose and rattles around.

Interesting I just had both my AirPods replaced for this. When I chatted with Apple they first wanted to me reset them and wait a few days. If I didn’t noticed any improvements then I should contact them again. Only then that’s when they offered to replace them.

I didn’t realize many of us had the same issue. No wonder they launched this service program before people start suing them lol.

Wow, it's good to shine some light on this and read the testimonials of the like-minded.

Like a number of others here, my left AirPod (Pro) began seeming to emit errant anti-noise in response to the impacts of my steps from walking and jogging, or other sudden movements like shaking my head. That one was replaced under warranty. I happened to ask Apple Support last night about the same issue occurring in my right AirPod, discovering the warranty coverage had ended. That would be true for every earliest adopter of AirPods Pro, and this announcement – which I was naturally delighted to read today – seems purposely timed.

The advisor from my first chat with Apple Support after the announcement of the program told me this AirPod wouldn't be covered, but my second conversation ended with a repair setup. They still reserve the right to determine whether the unit qualifies; we'll see how that goes.

At the least, I feel less burned today than yesterday by the issues. Apple products have always been highly reliable for me, and it was disheartening to begin feeling the most expensive device in a category should be the least reliable.

I see there are quite a bit of users experiencing this issue, can people elaborate on their specific issue with the device. I feel like the ANC part would be difficult to prove?

Just tell them you have a blown driver(similar to blown speakers), it’s what happens when you play your APP loud where it sounds like the bass sounds like it’s static and noisy. It’s normal wear and tear But Hey if apple wants to say it’s an issue worth replacing I’m all in.

Apple today announced the launch of a new service program for AirPods Pro sound issues, which is designed to address AirPods Pro units experiencing static or crackling sounds or problems with Active Noise Cancellation.

Faulty AirPods exhibit the following problems, according to Apple:
  • Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone
  • Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise
Affected AirPods were manufactured before October 2020, and those who have AirPods experiencing issues can take them to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for service free of charge. Apple says that the AirPods Pro will be examined prior to service to verify that they're eligible for the program. AirPods Pro earbuds demonstrating the issue (left, right, or both) will be replaced.

The program applies only to the AirPods Pro and not other AirPods models. It covers AirPods Pro for two years after the first retail sale of the unit.

AirPods Pro users have been complaining about issues with crackling/popping sounds during movement and problems with Active Noise Cancellation for months now. Affected users see the crackling or popping sound appear over time, and it appears to occur when something causes the earbud to move or vibrate.

I have an issue with my AirPods Pro and wonder if it’s the same issue:

When I first got them, they worked fine. I’m 99.9% sure that they passed the noise cancellation “fit” test, and ANC was working.

After a while, I had a problem with charging the Right AirPod Pro. Apple replaced it for me under warranty.

Once I paired the new Right AirPod, i noticed that when I walked, I heard a “click” in my *left* ear (the opposite one from what was replaced) in sync with every step I took. Music sounded fine if I stayed still, but if I walked I heard “click, click, click” with every step.

So, I did the noise cancellation “fit” test again, and was unable to ever get a “pass” from them. The left AirPod always failed. I tried all the different tips - same issue.

If I turn ANC “OFF”, the clicking goes away. So, since I walk every day, I’ve just decided to leave ANC “OFF” forever.

Now I hear about this “crackling” issue. Is that the same issue I’m experiencing?

It sounds exactly like the crackling issue that I had.

Is this replacement valid for air pod pros out of warranty mine were bought October 29th 2019 so just outside the warranty period as no Apple Care

I had a crackling issue before. When I cough it’s really annoying. But It just disappeared months ago.

The biggest problem I have is poor charging contacts, despite being clean, etc.

If an AirPod is in the case but not making contact, it is assumed to be 'connected' or actually DOES connect to a device, which then drains the battery on the offending bud even faster so it's almost always flat when the other is 100%

They need to improve that design somehow.
Yes, I was going a bit nuts/crazy because it happens very rarely on my side and makes me wonder what I just did... but sometimes I take them out from the case and the left says 85% and the right one 15%. At some point I was even thinking that it charges them in bursts one side at a time.

I guess I’m one of the lucky ones. I’ve had mine since launch day and they’ve been absolutely fine. Good to know that Apple is repairing/replacing those units that have issues.
