It will be interesting to see if Apple really has fixed the failing ear test problem. I had believed for a long time it was a design flaw, that the microphone position allows it to get blocked up with ear wax.
Ah, the days of "it just works..." are but a fading memory. RIP Steve JobsIt's not an Apple product if it doesn't have a repair program.
I think the comment was more about the continuously declining quality control in design and manufacturing.Am not sure if that is a positive or negative comment.
According to me Apple does care for their customers more than 99% percent of the companies out there.
Less than 5 years with these non-replaceable-battery headphones. Once that battery is dead, it's dead. There was a time when a person could buy a pair of high end headphones and use them "forever". It seems that everything Apple makes requires endless bug fixes, factory recalls or becomes obsolete in 5 years
You can do mail-in service... they overnight the replacements, but they put a hold on your card until you send back the faulty ones. Once they’ve received the faulty ones, they will remove the hold after determining if the swap is covered or not. You don’t even have to get on the phone with anyone. You can do it all through support chat.Apple should have allowed mailing it back rather than having people come to their store during a pandemic and wait in lines or risk getting Covid-19.
I made that realization after my first gen lasted barely over 2 years. I almost didn’t get the Pros, but I figured with the AppleCare this time around, I could replace them right before 2 years and make that set last another 2 years. Now that I’ve gotten both replaced after a year because of this issue, I’m not sure if that plan will hold up as well. I guess I might still be able to get the case replaced if the battery is beaten, which I’m sure it will be.Less than 5 years with these non-replaceable-battery headphones. Once that battery is dead, it's dead.
Wait, they included the other sizes? I didn’t see any others in any of the three replacement boxes I received or else I would have assumed to keep them. I didn’t want the medium ones since I use the small ones so I sent them back.I didn't include the tips, they just want the airpod itself.
I just did the return thing and the person told me specifically not to include the tips. So there shouldn't be any charge. And they didn’t subtract that from the rebate amount on the credit card hold?
I didn’t think they’d want the tips, but the drawings include them, so I wasn’t sure whether not including them would cause Apple to charge me a few bucks.
Hah. They replaced mine back in late August for this issue. What’s funny is they replaced the wrong one and then sent me the other so I got a new set. Hopefully these are fixed enough.I literally just called Apple about an hour ago about this issue and they told me they couldn't find any related issues related to the crackling noise. Lol
I had each replaced under warranty because I two different issues, left had a clicking sound when there was motion or if I touched it when ANC is turned on. (Loose internal mike?) When I got the replacement, I noticed the whistle sound when I touched the other old one does not occur with the replacement. I had the other one replaced at the Apple Store and decided to get Applecare due to my problems To be safe. Now both was before Oct., so they will be replaced even without AppleCare if it occurs again.I literally just called Apple about an hour ago about this issue and they told me they couldn't find any related issues related to the crackling noise. Lol
That is normal, the ANC issue I had, I believe, is a loose or bad mic. One, I believe was loose, had a clicking sound from it moving inside. If I turn ANC or Ambient off, which no longer uses the mic, the noise went away. I also had a squealing sound when applying pressure near the mic which the other one was replaced, at a different time.I think I have ANC issue since a long time but how can I gauge that? I know that using some Bose in the past the sound was completely clean and no background whatsoever . With the AirPods I can hear background, soft but I can hear it. Is this correct?
Originally, I only had one replaced, my son said there was one advantage of having one replaced. The battery life was slightly shorter on one. It would die slightly sooner than the newer one. This comes handy when on a call, he takes the dead one and charges it while still on the call with the other, then swap it, I rather have both new. But since they wouldn’t replace both for him, he sees a strange but useful advantage.I only had the issue in my left but I had them replace both. Didn’t want one old one and one new one.
Both the left and right side had the thumping/rumbling noise for me. Happened whenever when I moved my head around, was very annoying. On my third set right now and it's starting to come back again. I hope Apple has somehow finally fixed this in a new hardware revision or something.I had this. It was as if there was a loose wire in the device. If you moved it would cause static. Eventually it got bad enough that if I spoke then it caused static. If I was perfectly still and just listening it was OK.
After I replaced the left one I realized the right side also had a problem. Not quite so bad. If I walked while using these then the right side would produce a sort of "thump" or "thud" with each step. Contacted Apple and they also replaced this one free of charge. I bought them in the fall of 2019.
Interestingly enough, I went to the Apple store to get the second one replaced. The tech used a lightning cable to connect the charging case to his laptop and ran some sort of diagnostics that told him it needed replacement.
Thanks for explaining it.That is normal, the ANC issue I had, I believe, is a loose or bad mic. One, I believe was loose, had a clicking sound from it moving inside. But this is amazing! My right earpod have begun making distracting and fairly loud clicking sounds when in ANC/transparent mode when I walk around or eat fx. Super annoying. Can’t even use my left because I am hearing impaired.I literally just called Apple about an hour ago about this issue and they told me they couldn't find any related issues related to the crackling noise. Yes. Only one was crackling, and they replaced that one.Wait, so you only returned 1 of the 2?
