This delusional, victimhood way of thinking is so childish. Yeah, straight, white males are so disadvantaged... not being raped in an alley at night, not being brutally beaten or murdered because of your sexuality, not being profiled by police while driving or even just wearing a hoodie, not being refused a job because of your skin color... you have it so rough. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
No, I did understand just fine.
You talk about "victimhood way of thinking" yet you try to justify discriminative recruiting practices such as this one by talking about unrelated victimhood stories, such as people "beaten by their sexuality" or "raped".
The only fact here is that a sex based recruiting event or any other initiative that is sex-exclusive is a blatant discrimination, the same practice that their promoters try to fight against.
I'm pretty sure he strongly believes in diversity seeing that he is..............Maybe Tim should step down and be replaced by a woman to show how strongly he believes in diversity.
“Discriminatory”. You’re funny. Sorry your opinion is wrong.

“paid less” LOL, any sources for that ? and I mean sources that take in consideration the Position, Experience, Responsabilities, Time in the company, Hours worked, etc ? Because if we assume your argument is true, then every employer would hire women to save some money wouldnt they ?Your post nicely illustrates why being technically correct is often a worthless goal.
Yes, technically, this program discriminates against men.
At best, however, your criticism could be that it either corrects a problem that isn't there, or overcompensates it.
…so?
It doesn't change that, 15 years later, stories of women being paid less, being ignored at meetings, being passed over for promotion, being sexually harassed and assaulted, and receiving rape and death threats happen at major technology companies are happening several times a year and you'd have to be uninformed or lying to pretend otherwise. And no, similar stories of men don't happen at anywhere near the same rate.
Cool.
Once again, you post anecdotes and hearsay without any real proof to back up what you're saying. It appears that you're just parroting info you've been told.Your post nicely illustrates why being technically correct is often a worthless goal.

After reading this website regularly for 5+ years, I created an account just to quote your response.
Now, I've worked at Apple Retail for those 5+ years I've been visiting this site. I can say first hand over the last 2 years, Apple has made a tremendous shift toward hiring minorities. Yes, being a woman qualifies as a minority. I've seen promotions go to FAR LESS qualified candidates simply because they were women. Its not pretty. This is discrimination, and there is really nothing more to it.
You racist misogynistic son of a bitch! /sI'm tired of seeing this gender-only, ethnic-only or whatever-only type of things. Forced diversity is a joke. If women want to get into IT, they will. The reason there are not many women in the IT sector is because of evident natural sex differences.

"You're wrong because... eh... I say so"
Anti-diversity? Who said anything about that? I said forced diversity. There is a difference. In essence they want to force or at least coerce women into a profession that on average they are biologically not predisposed to enjoy or have an interest in. Engineers are predominantly men and physicians are predominantly female, big freaking deal....I’m just here for all the white male, anti-diversity comments like yours. Thanks for not disappointing.

This.
A hole lot of implicit claims yet no sources. Raped in an alley way, yeah right, it's become an epidemic!!! Being brutally murdered for your sexuality? Last time I heard that happening was somewhere in the Middle East..This delusional, victimhood way of thinking is so childish. Different brains for starters? Interesting that you seem to be on the side of "there are no differences between men and women other than their genitals"... at least that's what I assume you think. If that is indeed the case, I am wondering why you would want a gender balance in the workplace, considering that women are no different than men, so what are they going to add? This also applies in the opposite scenario (before you get triggered).…such as?
I tend to simply refer to it as discrimination.Reverse discrimination is still discrimination.
Regardless, I'm all for more women becoming developers and not being shunned or stereotyped due to their gender. I've worked with plenty of very intelligent and smart women engineers.
It must be nice to have nobody tell you you can’t do a job because of who you are.
It must be nice to not need programmes that only aim to help and even out decades of oppression.
It really is like beating a dead horse....I keep trying thoughArguing with these people is not worth the effort. They will remain unconvinced.
You'll notice I gave no indication for which side I lean towards but I'll give a hint. It's the one that tends to stay away from ad hominem and thinks the hiring process should be based on the rational and obvious; something that rhymes with ferret.

You got an article of an instance of gay bashing! Well done! Now we have solid proof that it has become an epidemic!https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc...er-charged-hate-crimes-faces-15-years-n937141
That article is from 10 days ago. I’ll feel free to ignore you now. Bye!

What’s with your childish obsession with “SJW?” It’s cute that you think that’s somehow an insult![]()

Obsession with SJW? Do you need me to google for you what obsession means? Also I don't think SJW is an insult. I use it in its proper context.
But you do know how to use Buzzfeed though.I’m not sure you know how to use Google.
How do you get to prove your merit when you're walking into a boys' club where you're automatically disregarded? How about accept people based on merit and not because they were born the wrong gender?
