No, the only way of getting around the mail in rebate is to be a resident of Connecticut or Rhode Island where it is an instant-rebate at the point of sale. They just reduce the price of the iPod to a penny and so there is no UPC to cut out or form to fill in correctly. Post it on craigslist and you could probably sell it that very day ;)

Any idea if this would work for someone who isn't a CT resident but makes a purchase there?

Currently on a iBook G4, and looking to upgrade soon. I'll be able to access the HE store from my university here in the UK, so that'll give me a nice discount. Then on top of that, I'll be able sell off my iBook, and probably get back about £350 easily. (still got applecare for several months, and its one of the last revision model). Then.... if I get a free iPod with the promo... and if I sell THAT for around £150 probably...

I'd probably be able to pick up a brand new Macbook for around a hundred pounds!

But then there is that part of me that would REALLY like a Touch. Then again, the money could also be spent on so many other things, ie: Time Capsules, :apple:TV...

It hasn't even been announced yet here in the UK, so hopefully we'll see some revisions on hardware before then. And by then, I'll have made up my mind!

I sent the mail-il form 2-3 weeks ago, should I worry if I didn't receive anything yet? On the website, they say I need to wait few weeks and when I click on the page to check my rebate status online, they say I can only check 4-5 weeks after the submission.

This means I shouldn't worry, but it seems like most of the people received their rebate within a week :/ ...

By the way, I bought from the canadian store.

Okay well Apple sent me an email two days ago saying that they have received my submission (that's about time :/ !) and saying that I should have my rebate in the next six to eight weeks.

edit (august 1st): just received my cheque =O
