The real effect is MUCH more severe than that, basically blurry at any distance.
There may be some other issue, but it's not that one.

Focusing close is much harder than far (since depth of field is so small).
That's why again, this probably isn't the problem mentioned here.

Try to do the shot in broad daylight to see if there is a difference.
Since focusing is a lot easier in good light.

Again with this issue, there would be problem to focus even in very good light.
You could try to use a flash to see it makes a difference.

Use a tripod and do the same shot with one of your friends with a similar phone to see what the problem is.
Low light shots suffer from blurriness from high Iso? (also makes it harder to focus)
(causing a decreased resolution)
Are you using the stock camera app?
Hmmm, my camera is MUCH worse at focusing than it ever wa sin the past, and it has not been abused/dropped/anything weird. I do have a second set of shots that I set to Apple that I took with photo lights and a light tent, and this was the result of those, below.
Anyway, I'm hoping that it will be resolved soon. I emailed the supervisor who had been helpful and told him that I still hadn't heard form Apple yet, and he must have done something, because I just received the form to give them a CC number so that I can be on the hook for my old one until it gets back to them, and I'm totally fine with that.
And, yes, I am using the stock camera app AND I have not downloaded ANY of my iCloud apps. I set it up as a new phone to test it. It's not something that I've put on it. Anyway, if they get a different phone to me, I will be happy with that.

UGH--can't upload right now. Well-lit is very blurry too.

Okay, it attached this time--light tent/photo lights at five feet. This started about two weeks ago. It was decent before that--not on par with my Nikon, but I wouldn't expect that!

Well, that's a bigger problem since in this case, light is good. Apple had serial numbers for the batch that had issues? Is your phone in those serial numbers. It's possible you have an issue but it's simply a different rarer one.

Yes, my phone WAS on Apple's "potential problem" list, and I still had to argue that it wasn't focusing right. I baby my tech toys--seriously. I knew that it had without provocation suddenly stopped focusing. But it was like they just didn't want to acknowledge that. Anyway, if they take care of the issue as I'm now expecting, I'll get over it and be a happy Apple customer again. . .

Found this thread when searching for answers about my iPhone 6+'s sudden onset inability to focus past the 6-8" range. I live four hours from the nearest Apple Store, so I sent my malfunctioning, totally immaculate iPhone 6+ in to get its camera replaced, only to be told that it was being sent back to me without any service because they had determined that it wasn't affected (even though it takes badly blurred pictures past the 6-8" range, AND is in the list of potentially affected serial numbers). That didn't work for me, especially when I have almost two years of AppleCare+ on that phone.

I have spoken to ONE helpful supervisor at Apple, but they have still done nothing other than *say* that they would be replacing my phone. They have not shipped it yet or put a hold on my credit card (which they said they would do before sending a new one). I'm not happy with Apple over this incident. I'm starting to wonder if they are really planning to do anything at all. I have blurry pictures (which I have emailed to two supervisors), AND I have offered to go to ANY local business (like my Verizon store that sold me the phone) to have someone verify that I have again (3x) done a factory reset without the problem being solved. I've always had top notch service from both my Apple products AND customer service in the past, but they stink on this one--totally, completely STINK.

Did you put your serial number into this webpage and say it was affected?

I went through the online chat function on Apple's website. The rep saw that my serial number was in the effected batch, and he immediately sent me a replacement iPhone 6 Plus that I got two days later. I put my original in the return box and sent it back. The process was much easier than going to an Apple Store and have a genius inspect it and only replace the camera. Since it sounds like you're making progress, online chat may not be an option right now, but if the Apple Store doesn't give you satisfaction, it would be worth trying the online chat help option.

Thanks. I *think* it is being taken care of now. I did begin with chat, but I was told to send my camera in. Then a week later I received an email saying that my camera was performing according to Apple standards, so nothing needed to be done to it and it was being returned to me. That's when it went downhill! Again though, I think I'll have a replacement on the way soon. Last night they sent me the credit card form to put a hold on my CC until I get a new/(or refurb?) one and return the malfunctioning one. I'm fine with that, assuming it happens and that the new one has a good camera. I also asked them if my remaining year of AppleCare+ transfers to the replacement phone, but they didn't answer that question. I would think it would have to. . .

Are you saying that now matter how bad they treat you, if they finally resolve the issue, you will.be Happy again.. you realise that because of this weird unwavering loyalty, that is why they feel they can treat you bad and get away with it.. because you will Continue to roll up every year and buy new itoys. .. talk about taking folk.for Granted. Jeez. .

What I mean is that I will discontinue my campaign to wage my little war for justice, because I'll have justice in this situation, and I'll be thankful for a positive resolution. However, that does not mean that I won't be watching the new phone like a hawk for any weird behavior. . . ;-) Tell you what, after seeing a 68-page thread in the forum on lag issues with the iPhone 6S+, I'm pretty thankful NOT To have had an upgrade coming this year! At least everything works but my camera.

Good, I hope they resolve it to your satisfaction. I was told that my AppleCare+ did transfer to the replacement.

My iPhone qualifies for this but I don't have blurry pics. Have people just sent it to apple to get it replaced anyways as a preventitive measure?

I talked to a rep today and they said they could do an express replacement service but it would cost $29?

Did other people have to pay something to get it replaced via online chat? That seems somewhat ridiculous.

I don't know about the Express part--mine went to them and returned for free, but it took a week. Apple WILL test your phone, and if they find that your pix are not blurry (or in my case, not as blurry as they thought the pix should be), they will send it back to you unserviced. No point in sending it unless your pictures are blurry. HTH!

My iPhone doesn't qualify b/c of serial # not on the list. I bought it in Jan 2015. I was going to get a new iPhone this Dec. 2017 before I found out about the program. Apple won't cover my camera just because apparently I'm in a different Batch. Apple DOESN'T CARE. They want to charge me $ 349 to repair. I'll put it on my card and dispute it@! My pics are blurry, and looking at screen while taking looks wavy. Crapple!
